1. Whose to blame
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (01.30.09)
People should stop blaming Spain or the Arabs. It was the Meretz-allied organization "Yesh Gvul" which called for this farcical and anti-semitic investigation.
2. A HOAX? No such "news" in Spanish media!
WORLD_GUARDIAN   (01.30.09)
In El Mundo Miguel Moratino sas [in a viedo] "Israel's response is Israel. Spain supports Legal Justice, and wants just peace to be achieved".
3. #2 - Oh YOU are the guardian of the world!!!
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (01.30.09)
I was wondering for so long who that was. Thanks for clearing that up, but I think your name should be "WORLD ASSWIPE."
4. Spain- Moratios
Luisa ,   Spain   (01.30.09)
This did not make headlines here- it looks like a judge and lawyers trying to get into the international spotlight- making a buck- opportunists.... probably even cheating their misguided clients. israel should sue the pants off those guys for defamation of character for starters- make them wish they'd never heard of Gaza-. Totally trumped up charges outside their jurisdiction.
5. Yeah, because otherwise a bunch of Brits, Americans,
Zvi   (01.30.09)
Iraqis, Iranians, Hamasniks, Russians, etc. are all going to have to be prosecuted in Spain too, right? Or not. Blame the Joooooos.

7. DENY THE COURTS? THEN DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE BOMBS
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (01.30.09)
You have to give the Palestinians a feeling that they can seek justice somewhere. If they see that the courts are denied them, they have no choice but to resort to bombs. If you sow these seeds, don't complain when you reap the whirlwind.

9. AN OUTRAGE AGAINST WESTERN DEMOCRATIC IDEALS
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (01.30.09)
"Justice Ministry sources expressed their hope that the Spanish judge's decision would be canceled following diplomatic and political pressure. " In the US, a judiciary independent of political pressure is SACRED, enshrined in our Constitution. The UK and other European countries also value independent judiciaries. The US is trying to introduce independent judiciaries into Iraq and other Arab countries. The idea of using political pressure to thwart the courts is very damaging to this concept. Of course, we've seen that IDF and the PM ignore Israel's Supreme Court at will. This is just moving Israel farther and farther away from the West toward the Islamic East.
10. As predicted law suit comes to nothing
Danny   (01.31.09)
I wonder if the "law suit" made the news in Spain....
11. To Arik Silverman
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (01.31.09)
"If they see that the courts are denied them, they have no choice but to resort to bombs" So you're justifying violence and terror against innocent Israeli civilians, when things don't go your way in court. Jeez... By this logic, if ynetnews editors deny my petition to block your disgusting and utterly stupid posts, I guess I'll have no choice but to bomb you.
12. #7 i would agree with you if very recent history didn't
(01.31.09)
prove that whenever they get something it proves to them the righteousness of their ideology. the israeli withdrawal from gaza, was an indicator in their minds, that israel is giving up on land terrotories, therefore they can try freeing the rest of israel as well from the jewish hands.
13. The lawsuit filed by a convicted terrorist
Ana ,   Spain   (01.31.09)
He was convicted of collaborating with ETA Gonzalo Boyé behind the lawsuit against former Israeli defense minister Behind the lawsuit brought against the former defense minister and six Israeli military is Gonzalo Boyé. The lawyer met conviction for collaborating with ETA and held the defense of an alleged ETA member in addition to supporting the official version in the trial of the Madrid bombings. (Libertad Digital) The judge of the Nacional Audience, Fernando Andreu, admitted Thursday the pending lawsuit filed by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights against the former Israeli defense minister, Benjamin Ben-Eliezer and six soldiers. They are charged with a crime against humanity for an attack in the Gaza Strip on 22 July 2002 which killed a Hamas terrorist and fourteen civilians. Behind this lawsuit, which has led to a confrontation between the two countries (the current defense minister described as "crazy" the decision of the Court and the ambassador has warned that relations could be complicated), is Gonzalo Boyé, as one of the lawyers of the Palestinian Center. The lawyer was a member of Chilean MIR and collaborated in the kidnapping of Emiliano Revilla on behalf of ETA. Along with three other members of the organization, he followed the movements of the entrepreneur, for which he spent ten years in prison, convicted of collaboration with a terrorist gang. While in prison he studied law at the National University of Distance Education. The lawyer has defended ETA terrorists and people linked to ETA in recent years. He also represented one of the victims of the Madrid bombings during the trial. During the entire judicial process he vehemently defended the official theory of the attacks, to the point that he stated that what the experts said about the explosives used in the attacks was irrelevant. They have'nt to interfere in the courts . Such a problem occured some years ago with the Belgian justice . So Belgium WISELY changed the law . If a person , of a DEMOCRATIC state , where there is a FAIR justice , is accused in Belgium , and when this complaint is admissible , this file is TRANSFERED to this country . So Spain can transfer the whole to Israel , no diplomatic problems , no interference in justice .

"Iraqis, Iranians, Hamasniks, Russians, etc. are all going to have to be prosecuted in Spain too, right?" They will never prosecute Russians for 100,000 killed Chechens women and kids and for destroyed Georgia. They buy gas in Russia.
16. Who else will this schmuck prosecute?
Albert ,   Buenos Aires ARG   (01.31.09)
will this ignorant gallego prosecute the Chinese Gov for Tibet? will he prosecute the Myanmar Gov for the monks slaughter? will he prosecute the muslims who kill Darfur people? or will he be an inquisitor ONLY FOR JEWS?
17. #13, thats interesting
Danny   (01.31.09)
the PCHR filed exactly the same suit last year - and it failed that time. I think it is time to sue them for either libel or get the lawyer struck off for vexatious lawsuits.

If you mean that lawsuit, it was filed in 2002 (if I remember properly). Why has it been admit now? During the Gaza op, we have had here anti-Semitic episodes. The disgovernment has taken the terrorists side, where it belongs, and this is the result. I hope it ends in nothing. If this were successful, this would mean that you can attack a country and file a lawsuit when it defends itself. They should also try many people, such as Solana, a member of the Socialist Party, now in office. Nato bombed Serbian civilians intentionally to put pressure on the government. When they had killed over 3,000 civilians, Solana, then NATO Secretary General, issued a statement in which he justified the killings and said they would keep on. And why don't they put hamas on trial? This terrorist group targets civilians. And what are the international tribunals meant for?
19. #18, Actually the event happened in 2002
Danny   (01.31.09)
and the PCHR brought a suit in 2008 which was thrown out...

I am sending you this for you to see the atmosphere. Not everybody here is like that. Israel and the jews have many friends here. The problem is that the disgo vernment has caused all this to happen. 31-I-2009 The starkest anti-Semitism is back EDITORIAL The most skewed treatment of the conflict in the Middle East throughout the West and the support provided by many politicians to any expression of contempt for Israel has allowed the loss of the decency to express aloud hate for the Jews. It is customary to question or qualify of exaggeration that certain views -written,stated or even drawn with remarkable frequency in the Spanish media-, are called anti-Semitic or Judeophobic under the excuse that to criticize the actions of Israel is perfectly legitimate. And of course it is. But with almost perfect unanimity, criticism of the state born as a refuge for the Jews has at least one of the features Bernard Lewis considers exclusive of anti-Semitism: double standards and the accusation of universal evil of all Jews. Thus, it is frequent to reproach Jerusalem actions which are ignored or even celebrated when others are responsible. The errors of the ISAF forces in Afghanistan in its fight against the Taliban have caused many innocent victims, but it is understood that this is error. Instead, Israel is accused of using precision bombs against a founder of Hamas when it could use far more expeditious and secure means , but which exactly are discarded to prevent more innocent people from dying. On the other hand, the universal evil of the Jews, even if it can be expressed almost literally, often takes another form: that of the equation with the Nazis. In Spain, and in almost all the West, the followers of Hitler are the very embodiment of evil, a fate that no other genocide have suffered with more than enough titles for the medal, like Stalin or Mao. Rate of Holocaust or genocide attacks which have claimed the lives of little more than a thousand people in what is often defined as "the most overcrowded region in the world" would be bizarre if it were not clear that it is a clear expression of hatred for the Jews, equating them (and as a collective) with those who did the most to exterminate them from the face of the earth. After the demonstration in favor of Israel on the outside of the stoned embassy in Madrid, a journalist of Libertad Digital noted with astonishment how the passenger in a passing car near the place shouted, his voice filled with hatred: "Jews!" Not even "Israelis" and "murderers", no. Jews. The most skewed treatment of the the Middle East conflict in the West and the support provided by many politicians to any expression of contempt for Israel has allowed the loss of the decency to express aloud that hatred for the Jews which they share exactly with those who embody the absolute evil. It is not surprising, therefore, that a synagogue in Barcelona is attacked a few days after they stoned the Israeli and and that graffiti appeared in a center of Jewish studies, however much unfortunate it may seem. While politicians continue to attend anti-Israeli demonstrations along with armed hooded people or call protests using the effigy of a terrorist, we well have to continue regretting more and more incidents of this type. It is somewhat ironic that those who proclaimed themselves the banner of modernism are precisely those who encourage the oldest hatred. www.libertaddigital.com
