During the last several years, the Venezuelan government has been making anti-Semitic statements, denying the existence of the Shoah, etc. Now we see outright violence against Jews by armed terrorists (not vandals - these were terrorists, YNET). This violence will only increase. I do not make a practice of calling for every Jew in the world to leave their countries and go to Israel. I usually find such calls to be annoying and dislike the narrow-minded idiots who usually make them (Jews have a right to prosper anywhere in the world G-d created). But Venezuela is an exception. Jews need to get out of Venezuela; it is no longer a remotely safe country, and Jews should not allow themselves to be held hostage and used as scapegoats and "examples" by Hugo "Little Fidel" Chavez and his would-be communist dictatorship. I feel sad for the decent democratically-minded voters of Venezuela that you would be leaving behind to fight the good fight. But recognize that becoming hostages is no way to help them.
