Yanni   (02.04.09)
99.9% of the readers do not know what the background is, and can only wonder where this village is, since there is no map. This is typical of the Israeli English-speaking press which is at such a low level of communication skills that to call it third-world would be a compliment.
2. Marzel is asking to be lynched
(02.04.09)
your crazy
3. Umm al-Fahm is an Israeli city and Marzel has all rights to
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (02.04.09)
be there;arabs can not impede him. Remember Sharon uproar in the Temple of Mount. We can not let arabs dictate what we have or don't have to do in our country. I am sure Marzel has no intentions to open discussions in that city but just to exercice his right. He must go and must be protected by Israel's Police in his will. He and his party want him to observe the elections in Israel. It is simple. Arabs must start getting used to it.If they are not happy, please:go to live among your arab brothers in an ARAB country. Here is ISRAEL!!!
4. #1 Nu?What matters where this village is?
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (02.04.09)
IT IS IN ISRAEL ,and that's enough for any Jew to go there whenever we wish! I don't understand your silly point. Not at all! ARABS must get used of us and OUR rules,if they wish to live here, and not the opposite, put this in your head alraedy!!
5. i say...
Nate ,   Canada   (02.04.09)
stop calling him "far right" and call him "Israeli patriot". Also, I'm trying to figure out why an Israeli town is banning an Israeli from entering it? This makes little sense to me. Sounds like Umm al Fahm don't want observers who are Jewish. Little racist, no?
6. Israeli Arabs see democracy as a one way street!
redbourn ,   Tel Aviv   (02.04.09)
How dare the municipal government threaten to ban and Israeli that is legally entitled to monitor ballot boxes from entering a town which is a part of Israel !!! Umm al-Fahm is Israeli and not Arab and when Bibi and Lieberman come to power it may find itself on the other side of the border. The residents want all of the pluses of being Israeli citizens but are not prepared to accecpt any of the responsibilites that go with them. Time for a showdown with them and then redraw the border because the residents of Umm al-Fahm are not loyal to the State. Mike
7. Time To Place The islamists In Our Midst In Their Placesa
Adina Kutnicki, ,   Israel   (02.04.09)
Some wounds needed to be opened in order to be cleaned of their toxins. This is perhaps one of them. Simply put, the Arabs in Israel who believe that they rule the land, and NOT the Jews, must NOW be put in their place. They are a minority living in our nation.IF they behave as civilized citizens and do not seek to assert Islamist rights, they will be treated accordingly. IF not,.........
8. Are Towns In Israel Allowed To Be Judenrein??
Adina Kutnicki   (02.04.09)
By the way, IF Marzel is blocked due to threats, and if the police do not adhere to the rule of law and get tough with the mobs , then the Arabs in Jewish towns must be also given notice. Why should they be able to walk freely in Jewish towns, or mixed towns, but not the other way around. Will Israel allow towns within Israel to be Judenrein? Fair is fair, or, don't we live in a democracy?
9. The joke of the year
Daniel Breslauer ,   Jerusalem   (02.04.09)
This is awesome. I haven't had such a good laugh in a long time. This whole circus is so funny it is impossible not to laugh. The solution would, of course, be for both the extreme rightists (like Marzel) and the Arabs to boycot the state and its elections, just like 'extremist Haredim' do.
10. Arrest Umm al-Fahm's municipal government
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.05.09)
They have declared themselves in rebellion against the government of Israel. This is nothing less than outright TREASON!
11. #2 - No - Marzel is asking to enforce the law...
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (02.05.09)
in the State of Israel. Um El Fahm wants it both ways.
12. #1 - Only .1% of Ynet's readership is so uninformed...
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (02.05.09)
and keeps abreast of the situation here at such a low level that it could make a stupid comment like that.
13. marzel-tibi
nossen tzvi ,   j-m   (02.05.09)
it is only fair to reciprocate and send TIBI to the hilltop boys to keep them honest on election day. Did Ben Gurion mean to include al-Fahm when he declared Umm shmumm?
14. Please Baruch Marzel dont test us, its fo your own safty, a
from um-elfahem   (02.05.09)
and the police wont be usefull, its um-elfahem you idiot, you need to think many times before coming, you still have time to rethink...
15. Marzel = Mamzer
John ,   Europe   (02.05.09)
16. Barukh Marzel is a terrorist.
Jonothan ,   Toronto, Canada   (02.05.09)
It is well-documented that Barukh Marzel is a terrorist whose purpose in life is to be a savage terrorist against innocent Arabs. It really shows the double standard of Israel when an Arab terrorist is killed but a Jewish terrorist is made election representative.... is this what you call the only democracy in the middle east?
17. Simple solution
Gerry ,   Boston   (02.05.09)
Remove ALL stations from this town. Arrange elections in, say Tel Aviv. Also arrest all members of the municipality. This solves all problem. Arabs can walk anywhere in Tel Aviv Jerusalem , Hebron, etc.
18. to 16, you belive that isreal is a democratic country? it de
from Um-Elfahem   (02.05.09)
isreal define it self as isreal the land of the jews, when u say a land is only for the jews, then you are being racist and thats now what democracy is all about, one of demoracy's main parts is acccepting others, and not defining them by thier religion
19. to #18- where does it say only for Jews?
David G   (02.05.09)
If Israel was only for Jews then why do you have the right to vote in the first place? Jordan and Egypt are Arab nations; does that mean you have to be an Arab to be an Egyptian or Jordanian? The UK is a British state many of its citizens do not have British heritage. For Israeli Jews being Jewish is more an ethnic and cultural identity then a religious one. I find it disturbing that I do not even live there and I know this fact better than you. I think it says a lot about the sorry state of Jewish/Arab relations inside Israel.
20. response to #3
response to #3   (02.05.09)
U and ur family who came after 1948are the only one who should leave this Land and keep it for its ppl ( Arabs).
21. #17 Very wise proposal ,and perfectly feasable.
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (02.05.09)
Better yet:If arabs from this town create problems, just don't let them vote. Anyway, this is a good solution for arabs in Israel ,who have rights but refuse obligations and besides ,are a populational threat to Israel, fact that can not be hidden anyway and must be sponken out because it is a real problem for us,among all other problems they create by being a fifh column in Israel.
22. true democracy
JOEL ,   ENGLEWOOD NJ USA   (02.05.09)
Baruch Marzel is just the person that we hope to become a true leader in Israel.Until the laws change all citzens of the jewish state have the right to vote even if the person is a sworn enemy of the state.Baruch Marzel has a well known goal to change this law however as it stands he respects this law and with the help of god when his politcal party comes into power this law will change and the enemies of israel will either leave the country ...
23. End the Arab Occupation
Eitan ,   Jerusalem   (02.05.09)
The time has come to end the Arab occupation of Eretz Yisrael. If we dont act now then we will have our very own kosovo/balkans in the Galil and Negev.
24. # 16 : terrorist ! Really ?
Ezra ,   Montreal, Canada   (02.05.09)
It is well documented that Barukh Marzel never killed anybody and has never committed any act of terror. It really shows the double standard of self hating Jews from Toronto who call a jweish patriot a terrorist and an arab killer a militant.
25. Equal under the law
Arie ,   BaGolan   (02.05.09)
Equal if you are arabs. You can march where you want;riot where you want;throw stones at police where you want;refuse national service if you want;vote for destroying the Jewish State if you want; live where you want and post hamass flags in public state-funded schools if you want:HOWEVER, if you are Jewish, the extreme left wingers and the Justices all find ways to disallow rights and freedooms. Freedom for one? Then freedom for all!
26. Because he didn't take a shower for a year(end)
Farid ,   Jerusalem   (02.05.09)
27. What happened to "respect for communities?"
Ken ,   Sharon, MA   (02.05.09)
This is garbage. Israel is the home of "when in Meah Shearim behave in accord with local dictates so as not to cause offense." Just let a secular party appoint a vocal secularist as an "election monitor" in B'nei B'rak. Funny how these "rule of lawniks" aren't willing to confront the thuggish mob when it's comprised of Jews.
28. If they want to prevent the Jews from coming into their town
Frank ,   USA   (02.05.09)
perhaps Jews need to prevent them from coming to any Jewish city in Israel.
29. We'll come on buldozers!!!
Avrom HaRussi ,   Hevron, Judea   (02.05.09)
We will clean up filthy stink from the Land of Israel. We will do a favor to humanity by dumping excrements across the border on arab land where it belongs!!!
30. There is no room for provocation.
