31. as an occubied Gazan
from occubied Gaza   (02.07.09)
by Hamas brutal rule I want Izrail to come back and rule us. Yaani under Izrail there was work, food everywhere, good education for shabab, freedom to sbeak, building new houses, roads, much less corrubtion, safety from Fatah, Hamas and other idiots. i do not care about democracy or having one more 3rd World Arab country with a bloody dictatorship All I care about is having a good life as before for myself and my family, but I do not dare telling anyone that these are my thoughts because I will be dead in no time
32. Why?
Alex ,   Haifa Israel   (02.08.09)
Dear B. Michael. If you really think that Arabs will serve in the army joyfully, why then nobody in Israel ask them to do so?
33. army service as sign of loyalty
mother from north   (02.08.09)
ALL citizens...."even the Haredim"...if they want to enjoy the benefits of this society..then they must serve it ....the arab miniority should serve the country --as well the religious minority ..
34. Let Arabs Lead The Way During The Next War!
Ed Katz ,   New Haven USA   (02.08.09)
Lieberman's idea is brilliant! Put Arabs in special units of the IDF and train them to "take the point" during the next war with Fatah, Hezbollah or Hamas.
35. #18 Mikesailor - where do you live, palm island?
(02.08.09)
36. to Terry # 19: You are wrong...
Rami of NAzareth ,   Israel   (02.08.09)
Obviously, you read the news and choose to used only the part that is comfortable to you. While it's true Israeli-Arab Mk's called for the community no to even consider the national service.... you shoudl also know that tha majority of Israel-Arabs DO NOT agree with them.... in fact many alredy are doing national service. What the silent israeli-arab majority neds is someone in the establishment to give them a chance and if that is Liberman... then let it be...
37. to#22: Like a large % of Israeli-Arabs, I don't.....
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (02.08.09)
38. What's wrong with that?
Josh ,   San Jose, USA   (02.08.09)
A million Israeli Arabs eagerly joining the IDF and defending their country is a problem?? I say Welcome!! Israeli Arabs can become a loyal minority no different from any Jewish diaspora community. (The Israeli Druze community already does this.) Their behavior during the recent war in Gaza makes me think they are a fifth column but unlike the racists, I'd be thrilled if they proved me wrong.
39. Enough
Yakov   (02.08.09)
I highly doubt the vast majority of Israeli Arabs would be willing to serve in IDF. Which is why I would be OK with allowing them to join. We could right away see who supports Israel and who exactly the fifth column from within is. No IDF or national service-no residency. Period.
40. I am glad the writer sees Arabs as threat
Asaf Golan ,   Sugar Land   (02.08.09)
Yep, having beduim and Druzim in the army threatens the sate! (?) and therefore as the writer hints they should be removed from national service! (?) Of course he might be just joking because as we all know the Arabs are a national threat to Israel and what he calls "Palestinians" are Druzim.
41. RE: #31 as an occubied Gazan
Israel Watchdog ,   Israel   (02.08.09)
Although we feel similarly, I feel sorry for you. Although we have differences of opinion on the subject of occupation, there would be nothing better for you and us to be able to live side by side (not 2 state solution but neighbors), working together, laughing together, trusting eachother, having a good life. But in this non perfect world, the radicals, that in reality really don't care about life, ruin it for us all. Let "them" move to some other place. Heck, even they're own neighboring Arab countries don't want them.
42. Has anyone actually looked at Yisrael Beyetynu's policies?
Shane ,   Herzlia   (02.08.09)
I think Lieberman is misunderstood and demonised by thousands who are too ignorant to actually find out for themselves what exactly Lieberman wants to do, instead simply heeding the garbage spoon-fed to them by others. Firstly, why should some of the population do national service, and some not and still expect the same social benefits? National service doesn't have to mean army, arabs not willing to joing the army could do other forms of sherut leumi, the police, or helping in ambulances/hospitals. Lieberman in a way is moving towards equality, which today we dont have. Why must I spend 3 years of my life getting shot at for my country when my neighbour (Jewish) didnt do the army and gets the same social benefits? Bringing me to my 2nd point, not once are Arabs mentioned as a separate group in YB's policies. They want loyalty for all citizens, that means that those who don't want to do army and would normally just get out of it (Arabs, Haredim, Profile 21'ers) will have to do some other form of service. What is wrong with serving a country in return for benefits? This rule applies to everyone. Thirdly is the proposed 2 state system. How can we pull back to the pre-67 borders? Demographics have changed so much, YB's policy of changing the areas to be allocated to the future Palestinian state are far more logical after all these changes. I also think that in the spirit of freedom and equality, if we wish to maintain a Jewish identity in out state, the Arab population must be given their own state to maintain their own identity. What is so wrong with all of this? The proposed system by YB is thus a much better example of equality than the mess that we are dealing with now. I urge people before blabbering off in ignorance about any party, to do a little bit of logical thinking and fact-finding first.
43. Arabs join the army? Sure, and cows can fly...
JPS ,   Efrat   (02.08.09)
What's more likely, Arabs joining the army en masse, or Arabs voting for a single Arab party en masse? The answer = neither. Ain't gonna happen. Note that if the Arabs did indeed show unity and vote as one, they'd get 24 seats in the Knesset and be a tremendous force to contend with. As I said, ain't gonna happen until we see cows flying....
44. #24 and wouldn't u just love seeing it collapse
(02.08.09)
no need to answer a false answer, we all know the truth, even the leftists & all those who wouldn't admit so.

Balla ,   Vancouver   (02.08.09)
You said not because of the unconditional love that you have for Israel. At the same time you said you hate Arab leaders. You lost your identity, both sides will consider you traitor.
49. good job buddy
m ,   jerusalem   (02.08.09)
hey this guy is full of brilliant ideas, we can teach them everything and they can turn on us with our own weapons, and skills. its just like the brilliant jew who had the amazing idea of forming a group called hamas, eventually their plan back fired and hamas is one of the leading oppositions for israel. so following in the steps of the last retard here comes liberman.
50. are you israelis crazy????
(02.08.09)
imagine arab israelis, who are and do not feel themselves part of jewish israel....fighting against their "brothers" in gaza. can you imagine this will work? are you all crazy??? don't you realize that these arabs hate the fact that jews are living in israel and want to throw you into the sea. just listen to what their party leaders say like sana, bishara, tibi, zahalka, etc... they hate your guts no matter how nice you are to them. look at whom they supported with palestinian flags during the recent war! look at the riots and violence they created during the war. also, something you forgot entirely!!!! can you honestly feel safe next to an arab palestinian soldier in idf uniform? if they conscript un mass into the idf, your army will loose the endge as every move and plan of the idf and iaf will be relayed to gaza by these arab soldiers. they will be traitors for sure. who can trust them with military secrets??? you are all nuts. they should do national service but never, ever, ever, military service.
51. Equal rights ...

57. Palestinian youth edlistment to IDF
Lily ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.08.09)
I would like to ask you Mr. Michael how did you come to the idea of comparing the situation at 1954 to the one we live in now- after the Gaza war, which is called by the Palestininas (and not just Gazans) genocyde. I realy would like to see a Palestinian who will join the IDF. On line broadcasted war did it's work. Maybe like an Israeli you are not really aware of what was in Gaza, because of the fact that your media decided to "plaster" it
58. look who is talking...
oded   (02.08.09)
b. michael and his like have poisened our wells and souls for many years with their version of what""peace"" with arabs should look like..... and yet 60 years later the left is left with nothing..... is leiberman the best answer? it is the better answer then meretz or hadash, that's for sure!b. michael, you have contributed nothing over the years, maybe leiberman will accomplish more for all of us!
59. You would expect this kind of rubbish being posted on the Gu
YSL ,   Jerusalem Israel   (02.08.09)
This is the kind of garbage that the Guardian is flooded with. These authors that can find nothing good about Israel. He should write for the Guardian, with the other Israeli's there who trash Israel.
