1. nothing to do with womens votes
meg ,   Israel   (02.12.09)
I know plenty of men who decided not to vote for Meretz. Its nothing to do with womens rights, it is to do with our security and as we have seen we have the enemay within, who you tend to suck up to.
2. figures don't lie, but liars figure
eliezer ,   jerusalem   (02.12.09)
face it, Meretz lost big because the people realize that the left gave us nothing but terror attacks and shelling. If Meretz truly wants to attract more votes, they should become a extreme rightist party instead of a extreme lefty group of die-hards.
3. Reason he lost
(02.12.09)
If Jamus doesn't understand that Meretz is irrelevant, he should quit. Meretz' national platform was adopted by Kadima. People who want to ethnically cleanse Judea and Samaria and setup an Islamic dictatorship voted for Livni. People who felt that Kadima is too Right-wing voted Hadash, which also has a real social platform. Hopefully Ilan Gilon will join a different party. He is the only Meretz parliamentarian who ever did something useful.
4. Actually Oron is being quite reasonable
Ilan ,   Ariel   (02.12.09)
I doubt that even a single Meretz voter from last election went and voted for Yisrael Beiteinu. They seemingly voted for Kadima, and it is reasonable to assume that they did so to block Netanyahu. It was a bad idea that did nothing to help. The larger problem was the shift of the entire public right ward in response to the obvious failings of the peace camp's world view. Reality betrayed them not the voters.
5. What percentage of Israelis are 'left' ? 6% !
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (02.12.09)
'Right-wingers outnumber lefties 2-1' Poll shows 30% identify as right-wing, 13% center-right, 24% center, 13% center-left, 6% Left.
6. good ridence
Asaf Golan ,   Sugar Land   (02.12.09)
nasty party on the left has been whitewashing pro-Arab (racist) legislation for years. They opposed Israel's self defense and lobbied to expel Jews from their homes. And where did they get their support from? Gays and atheists who really really just want gay marriages and buses on shabbat.
7. Meretz
Jeremy ,   Hula Valley Kibbutz   (02.12.09)
Women groups are not the reason that Meretz lost so many seats. Face the truth, the party lost seats and the Left lost in general because the citizens of the country are tired of your fail ideas. Social ideas are good, however attacking Lieberman as a campaign slogan was wrong. Most off all you lost because the people want security, not let;s give up everything including our Jewish identity to placate Europe and the Palestinians. Gal-On has been a done nothing but make me sick, the same with Shelly. Look I am a kibbutznik and I wouldn't vote for your party even if you paid me too.
8. You stand with the enemy you fall with the enemy!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.12.09)
Meretz' attitude during both the Lebanon War 2 and the recent Gaza Operation was, in short, despicable! The actions of Zahava Gal-On were on the verge of treason! Our soldiers were in the battle field and she and others stood shoulder to should with those who work for the destruction of our country and the driving of the Jewish people into the sea. This is a land of "wonders and miracles" and it is a miracle indeed that Meretz didn't fall by the way completely! They have only themselves to blame!
9. Probably those groups of women who
jason white ,   afula,israel   (02.12.09)
did not like kassams, mortars and grads falling on their families. Probably the mothers of soldiers. Those women. oren's name should be dumb ass, not jumass! And the gal-on dried up. she can always run for a seat in the p.a., if they ever have elections.
10. Excuses, excuses! You failed! You are failures!
Jake   (02.12.09)
When you fail once, you are given a chance to mend your ways and do a re-sit. When you continue to fail again and again, you are disqualified. Get it?
