1. Israeli Failures
Goliath   (02.14.09)
This is another proof of Hamas victory in the last war.
2. Israel release of TERRORISTS make Israel a pathetic GHETTO!
GET REAL ,   USA   (02.14.09)
"17 life sentences"! Why weren't they executed for murder? Killing Jews in Israel is always rewarded by the state. Terrorists live in a country club prison and then are freed! Terrorists in prison get married and get college degrees!
3. crime responsibles
judea ,   Negev   (02.14.09)
It was not wise to see your child dead but it is the responsibility of the governement to bring to those in crimes to justice.
4. releasing murderers is a crime
Yosi Dan   (02.14.09)
releasing murderers is clearly taking part in murder of Jews - a crime unforgivable.
5. With all my respect
(02.14.09)
But the IDF killed thousends like your inocent son and they are all free and their leaders are free .... you know how many thousends of fathers and mothers their hearts bleeding like you ... we should push our governments to make peace or the blood shed will never stop ... let's pray together from all relegions and to ask God to bring peace to the world ... we all sufferd enough .
6. My heart goes out to you, Mr. Tzur
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (02.14.09)
Because you and I share this in common: we each buried a son, lost to terrorist animals. But we also share this in common: we buried our sons. We know where they are; we have a place to go visit our sons, talk to them, place a small stone. Only the most delusional person believes that Gilad Shalit is alive. We know that any discussion is over repatriation of his remains. We also know that there is no reason to believe that Hamas will do even that; they enjoy torturing us. But in the simple expectation that enough pressure can be brought to bear upon Hamas, perhaps Gilad will come home. And then -- like you and I -- his family can lay him to rest; will have a place to visit him and talk to him, as you do your Asaf (z.l.) and I do my Daniel (z.l.). I am troubled at the thought of endangering Jewish lives by letting terrorist scum out of prison for, in all likelihood, nothing in return. I am nauseated at the prospect of what will no doubt be grand "victory" celebrations for them. Our sons, Mr. Tzur, died horribly, but they died instantly. There can be no doubt that Gilad Shalit died following horrible and prolonged torture. We need to do everything in our power to lay him to rest at home. And -- whether or not Gilad Shalit comes to rest -- we can make very sure that every parent in Gaza -- suffers the way you, I and the Shalit family have suffered. May Ha'Shem forgive me for saying that -- even for thinking that. Nehumim, sir; nehumim.
7. 17 life sentences!? They should be delivered dead
Historical Observer ,   NY   (02.14.09)
I don't understand how someone convicted of murder and given SEVENTEEN life sentences could be allowed to walk out of a prison so easily. Their release is not contingent on them living. At the very least tag these people with a microchip in their skulls so they can be monitored for their movements. They lost all right to live freely when they committed such deplorable acts of violence.
8. How much is Shalit worth?
Leon ,   Los Angeles, USA   (02.14.09)
Is a release of one soldier worth unleashing 1000 hardened terrorists who might take thousands of lives? besides, Only the parents or relatives of the victims should have a right to decide whether these terrorists can go free.
9. Sorry,
Moshe ,   Israel   (02.14.09)
but life is not always fair. Learn to get on with your life. Shalit must be freed and there is a price to pay.
10. Release Of Terrorists For Shalit = Stupid
Dan ,   USA   (02.14.09)
I have never been able to understand why a country, surrounded by enemies, would let one kidnapped soldier's life be more important than Tzur's or any other civilian or service person killed OR YET TO BE KILLED BY RELEASED TERRORISTS. It is suicidal and stupid.
11. let them release them
m ,   jerusalem   (02.14.09)
israel can release all 11000 prisoners, because as everyone knows the prisons will be refilled with different Palestinian prisoners within a few months its an ongoing saga so dont worry release them all. The last time israel release 250 prisoners that same night israel went and arrested 300 other people its just a way of recycling the prisoners in the judicial system. so this way mahmoud abbas and hamas look good to the palestinians that they released a thousand prisoners but when it really comes down to it all they did was release shalit.
12. A decision that might cost many victims.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (02.14.09)
Who will be responsible for the victims killed and injured ant/or kidnapped by the Arab murderers as the consequence of the released Arab prisoners in exchange for Shalit, The Shalit family? The Israeli politicians? What will they have to tell to the families of the victims?... Real leaders have plenty of power in the refusal to bargain. A leader should be strong and courageous! More over the problem of kidnapped soldiers at : http://xrl.us/em3de
13. No. 2 Get Real
NYC Girl   (02.14.09)
While I agree with the premise of your comment, it should be pointed out that not all the Israelis who died in terrorist attacks were Jews. There have also been Muslim and Christian victims of Palestinian terror because the aim of the terrorists is to frighten and demoralize the country as a whole. But, apparently, the State doesn't give a damn about innocent civilians regardless of their religion.
14. Death penalty for terrorists
rachel ,   usa   (02.14.09)
they want death , give them death ....these people don't understand anything else .....
15. #5 stop blaming the IDF blame Hamas for using civilians as
rachel ,   usa   (02.14.09)
sheilds .It was simple ....all they had to do was stop sending rockets
16. Shalit
Malone ,   Hfx   (02.14.09)
While I hope he is alive,I doubt it. He hasn't been seen in a couple of years. I hope this time the foolish leaders have enough sense to get a visual sighting of Gilad, before releasing hundreds of murderers that will no doubt kill again.
17. #15 RACHEL
Moshe ,   telaviv   (02.14.09)
Rachel you are beginning to sound like a broken record.
18. Mr. Macho Malone #16

19. #18..Uri
Malone ,   Hfx   (02.14.09)
I have two sons, both of whom are in the military and have done tours in Afghanistan. What, exactly is your point,or do you have one???
20. #18..Uri
Malone ,   Hfx   (02.14.09)
I didn't think you did!
21. #19 Mr. Macho Malone.
Uri ,   Israel   (02.14.09)
Humans need closure. Dead or alive, Shalit needs to come back home to his parents no matter what the price is. How dare you sit back there in Hfx and play God with the emotions of the Shalit family. What if it were one of your sons? If you dont have something that will ease the emotional suffering of this family, then I suggest you shut the F. up. Comprendez idiot?
22. #21..Uri
Malone ,   Hfx   (02.14.09)
Sounds like you need some anger management classes buddy. I'm being realistic here, like it or not. Lighten up before you have a stroke.
23. #22 Mr. Macho Malone
(02.15.09)
The problem with you people is that you have a cowboy mentality. You have no considerartion to others. You feel you can Rambo your way around. Well guess what? There is more to life that shooting people and pretending to be tough when its other peoples kids that are in harms way. Show some consideration will you?
24. #23..Uri
Malone ,   Hfx   (02.15.09)
What the hell are you talking about???? Where are you getting this stuff.? Where in my original post #16 to I appear to be a Rambo. You must have me mixed up with someone else or you've had too much Scotch.
25. #17see if I care ....well it seems no one is listening and
rachel ,   usa   (02.15.09)
