1. MIZRACHI IS RIGHT TURKEY COMMITTED GENOCIDE TO ARMENIANS
ALEX GOLD ,   TEL AVIV   (02.14.09)
MIZRACHI IS RIGHT TURKEY COMMITTED GENOCIDE TO ARMENIANS AND TO THE KURDS.
2. Truth
David ,   USA, exile   (02.14.09)
The General spoke the truth and should be honored for it. Instead he is betrayed. This is very sad. Diplomacy has its limits and to chastise the General undeservedly is beyond all reasonable limits.
3. Mizrahi's comments did not represent the army's position.
Don Saliman ,   Nahal Oz, Israel   (02.14.09)
Well maybe it should. It seems like everyone can tell Israel, what to do and they can call Israel all sorts of names but heaven forbid,Israel should say anything bad about countries that hate Israel. It seems Turkey relationship with Israel,is not so important to them. It is about time Israel should stop turning the other cheek and start defending the state of Israel and put up a hand and punch back
4. Turkey's genocide
Larry ,   Raanana   (02.14.09)
Maybe General Mizrahi does not represent the army's position, but he certainly represents the Israeli position. STOP GOING TO TURKEY
5. The truth hurts
jj ,   montreal canada   (02.14.09)
6. Dhimmis
Sidney ,   USA   (02.14.09)
Didn't Erdogan just criticize the Israeli people for electing a rightist government? Why can Turkey criticize Israel but not the reverse? The people in power in Israel have a dhimmi mentality. Cheers for General Mizrahi.
7. Absolutely correct and courageous Gen. Avi Mizrahi
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (02.14.09)
This should be the reply of all our politicians and diplomats to ErdoArrogant rant. Make Gen. Avi Mizrahi next IDF Chief of Staff
8. RIGHT ON!
Debbie ,   Jerusalem   (02.14.09)
Go Mizrahi - you are RIGHT!!! Too bad our army is too scared to back him up.
9. IDF: DHIMMI BEHAVIOUR
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (02.14.09)
10. Mizrahi is right.
Vicky ,   Ashkelon Israel   (02.14.09)
They also start on any majority. Why should he appologise for telling the truth? Thats whats up with our government officials. The Turks and every one else likes to tell us how wrong we are but we can't point our their faults ! Double standards.
11. Armenians
Ruth Rosenthal ,   Ashkelon, Israel   (02.14.09)
We shouldn't expect from the Israeli establishment to speak out against the genocide of the Armenians. That's not opportune to our military and commercial interests. The ADL only 'recognized' the genocide by the Turks of the Armenians after heavy pressure. Hat off for a general who speaks the truth and says what many of us are thinking!
12. Mr Erdogan- Israel is not a political opponent in Election
Alan ,   SA   (02.14.09)
13. Rant?????
Ofer ,   Israel   (02.14.09)
Why do you call it a rant? He was speaking the truth.
14. Spineless politicians.
Elvis Megisto ,   Miami, USA   (02.14.09)
The general -of course- was right, and should be given a medal, not reprimanded for telling the truth. The fact is that Turkey killed 1.5 million Armenians, invaded Chipre and has killed scores of Kurds. Erdogan SHOULD look at himself in the mirror, before opening his stupid mouth. I congratulate you, general, for telling it as it is.
15. Apologizing again
Malone ,   Hfx   (02.14.09)
This gov'tcan't go soon enough. Instead of backing their people when they're right, they fall all over themselves being politically correct.Same thing happened with Mubarak. The General was right.
16. "Genuine Audacity of Truth!"
Naomi Phillips ,   Las Vegas U.S.A.   (02.14.09)
Although it is a given, in terms of political pragmatism, that the IDF had no choice but to disavow General Mizrachi's comments, it neither negates nor diminishes the truth of his words. It appears that 'Political Propriety' finds it perfectly acceptable to dictate 'who' should lead Israel and consistently meddle, threaten and coerce with lies, deceit and ill concealed contempt for Israel. General Mizrachi is to be applauded! Israel cannot be a sovereign nation if it consistently allows itself to be pressured by tyrants, colonialists, dictators, presidents or prime ministers past and present. Israel must act as every other nation.... in its own self interest.
17. A non story. IDF grow up.
Gideon Reader   (02.14.09)
What BEE ESS!!! If the General told a FALSEHOOD he should be disciplined. If he said or made personal commentaries regarding his own damned opinion of a nation, people or political echelon within a particular nation. You(the IDF Polititurds) just shrug your shoulders and release a very short statement regarding freedom of speech and an open society, etc. Then you forget it, after suggesting confidentially to the General that posibly it would be more conducive if his comments were held a bit closer to his chest and not, regardless of the provocations by an individual more suited to the idiot role in "Deliverance" than to an alleged head of state, such as an anti-semitic clown of a head bumper from a murdering, genocide producing, facist and corrupt nation, using as an illustrative an example, Turkey. Good job General. Take another Star or falafel, knife and fork.
18. General Mizrahi is completely in the right
Michael ,   Boston, USA   (02.14.09)
Whether his comments were that of "citizen Mizrahi" or "general Mizrahi" should not be the issue. The bottom line is that his comments ring absolute and distinct clarity in response to Turkey's accusatory comments of the IDF Gaza operation. Well done, General. I can only hope that others will follow in your footsteps!
19. REFUSE EXCUSE! A Good Change to break relations with Zionism
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (02.14.09)
20. Turkey wants enquiry on claims
Ertan ,   Yıldız   (02.14.09)
Turkey is ready to hold an international conference or investigation into the claims. Turks dont have any fear. Our history is clean
21. Maj. Gen. Avi Mizrahi
Sar haPanim ,   Israel   (02.14.09)
The good general is right. Israels' leaders playing the same revisionist game with history as the Palestinjuns. We might as well call what happened last month in the Gaza strip an operation by the Health and Safety Department / Buildings demolished due to poor foundations. There is a name for those that stretch it as much as they like!
22. haha
(02.14.09)
a lying bloodthirsty military rebukes a general for calling the kettle black. turkey/israeli relations = "dont talk about our crimes and we wont talk about yours". thick as thieves.
23. Why is our gvt. so afraid of Turkey?
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (02.14.09)
Why are we so reluctant to call a spade a spade? Turkey has no moral right to lecture us or criticize us and how we deal with our enemies after what they did to the Armenians or how they treat the Kurds today.
24. He spoke the truth; humanity knows it, the Turks deny it
russel ,   tlv   (02.14.09)
Ask the Armenians or the Kurds; what's left of them, that is
25. THE TRUTH !!!.
Orao Stranka. ,   Tsarigrad u Srbia.   (02.14.09)
MAJ.GEN. AVI MIZRAHI - I SALUTE YOU !!! - SIR !!!. Orao.
26. Avi Mizrahi is brave Israeli Army General
Alon Levi ,   Israel   (02.14.09)
and he said truth about real facts! He isn't member of Turkish government and he isn't accountable before Turkey! Turkey must not manipulate Israeli generals! Israeli people support Shimon Peres, our Government, IDF and its Generals - may God Almighty protect them and bless them abundantly.
27. Totally true!
David ,   Ukraine. Israel   (02.14.09)
Army distanced himself from general's statement. BUT. He told total truth. Overall, it is unclear why Turkey, and Erdogan particularly took such extreme position against Israel. It is so strange, considering their own REAL genocide acts.
28. Army Should Not Be Involved In Politics
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (02.14.09)
Almost all countries,if not even all, have a " skeleton in the cupboard ",that is to say they have dirty linen that could be washed in public to appear as repulsive and disgusting. The army should remain confined to its profession as military defender of the state and its citizens, nothing more and nothing less. The IDF officer who made the statement must have been quite hurt and excited by remarks of Turkish prime minister. But he should have remembered that any Israeli politician could have on the spot criticized Turkey and reminded it of its history. No Israeli politician has so far done that, not out of emotions, but rather out of concern for mutual relations and interests that have bound the two countries for long. I still remember one top US Army officer making funny remarks about Saddam and his escapades just a few weeks before Operation Desert Storm was launched in early1991. Believe it or not that US army officer was immediately fired by the top US Army Command for recklessly making unnecessary statements that were irrelevant to his duty as a military figure...
29. Tayfun you deserve the Islamofascist leaders you have
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (02.14.09)
and much worse is about to come your way at their hands soon you will be like the poor masses in Iran fed the Quran day and night but no real food to put on the table every day. but you are not as lucky as Iran is, being so close to Europe. Europeans will wake up like in 1912, 1914 and 1917 and send you all back to your native Uzbekistan returning Asia minor for its native inhabitants Greeks, Kurds, Armenians and many others. You opened a Pandora Box with your vilification of Jews and every single enemy of Jews in history always ended up in a big disaster
30. stupid political move to appease
JO   (02.14.09)
but not truthful. What the General said is true and most people think the same way if they are truthful. This is a political move aimed at appeasing Turkey which, considering Turkey's outspoken comments re Israel, is not being fair or just. But this is diplomacy.
