1. What a beautiful family!
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (02.20.09)
And what a heartwarming story. We look after our own. The Arabs could learn something from that, if they wished .... there would be no Palestinian refugees had they simply been absorbed by any of the 21 Arab states.

6. I hope members of the Yemenite community look after them
Aharon   (02.20.09)
These poor people have no idea what they're getting themselves in to. Still I'm glad they've come and I hope they find the transition to life in Israel as painless as humanly possible.
7. I hope they will be treated well . . .
Shalom   (02.20.09)
unfortunately ever since the disgraceful way the Yemenites were handled in the 50s, there has been discrimination against them. Within the last 10 years, a large % of those making aliyah ultimately left for NY because they were shocked by how they were being pushed to abandon their religious lifestyles. The Jewish Agency has got to understand that these people have the right to be settled amongst other religious Yemenites, and be given all the help they need in establishing themselves within the religious community. I wish them a lot of luck and hope they make it.
8. The little girl on the left of the photo...

9. Some Things You Must Know:
Ben-Zait ,   Herztliya   (02.20.09)
Welcome home, brothers and sisters - we love you!!! We Israelis are a strange bunch, and you need to know a few things about our society so you can fit in well: 1) We are rude to you if you seem fine, but we will open our home and heart to you if you need help. 2) Don't mind the ultra-Orthodox - they live in their own world and sometimes they can be quite insane. But they are wonderfully warm people, so do not fear them, but do not challenge their views without being prepared for a scandal. 3) You may think that the secular Russians are not even Jewish, but most of them are (or have jewish descent and are coming back, or are converting, or intermarrying), and even if not religious, Russian Jews are the most fiersest Zionists you will ever meet. Many of their children serve with distrinction in special units and fall while protecting Israel. They are also generally quite brainy. 4) You'll find that in our society, if you are seen as smart/strong/successful, you will be treated as such. If you seem weak, you will be walked over. Somehow this and fact in #1 of this guide work together without contradiction. Don't be a freier. 5) We love our little country with all our hearts. Secular/relgious/Ashkenazi/Sephardi/white/black/brown/Anglo/Russian/Sabra/Jew/Muslim/Circassian - we all collectively shed blood for it. You're expected to carry your burden. Your children will likely carry arms in defense of our county. Be ready, be proud. 6) Make sure to try the falafel stand in Eilat at the southern edge of the beach run by an Arab by the name of Mohammed Ala - you think you're in heaven. We're so happy you've come to join us...welcome home!

Forcing a population to leave and assimilate them in another country is a crime. Don't expect the Palestinians to abandon their true home: Palestine!

NYC Girl   (02.20.09)
That's a statistic that can't be repeated often enough. In fact, it's an absolute disgrace that the plight of those million refugees has virtually been consigned to oblivion, while the Palestinian victimhood narrative is played out ad nauseum.
17. WELCOME HOME! Kol HaKavod to theJewish Agency.

18. GUH , the big LIAR
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.20.09)
Most of those palestinian "refugees" left their home because they were told to do it by their leaders . "you will return in the footsteps of the victorious arab armies" they were told . So not FORCED . Jews had to flee from arab countries , their life was endangered
19. welcome home

20. #8 She is a beutiful example of a Jewish Girl dressed ...
Yitzchak ,   Yerushalyim   (02.20.09)
What a beautiful picture of these Yelid'im The girl on the left is a beautiful example of a Jewish Girl dressed modestly something you will not see with Jews tainted and scarred from Western Catholic lands! As Rav Yosef Karo states in the Shulchan Aruch it is proper for a girl ot have her head covered when she goes out into the market places (in modern speech out shopping).
21. #18 So true Charles
Cynthia ,   USA   (02.20.09)
60 years later the Palestinians and their supporters still push this lie. The Jewish fighters won a war in 1948 started by Arab armies and militias who told the Arabs to flee in advance of these invading armies. Now they want what does not belong to them and continue to blame Israel for their own poor decisions. The mess Hamas leadership made of Gaza is part of this ongoing saga. In sharp contrast, Jewish refugees have been resettled with a helping hand extended from all parts of the world.
22. # 13

Where did Sarah say anything about forcing anyone to leave?
23. Yitzchak # 20
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.20.09)
If you would meet her in the street you certainly would think she's muslim . I hope she will change to a more Israeli outfit , she's not a woman yet , only a young nice Jewish girl . And what Rav Yosef Karo states , that was hundreds of years ago , irrelevant in the 21st century . שבת שלום
24. #13 guh you have double standards for jews and arabs
catherina, israel   (02.20.09)
as jews are suffering from discrimination and anti-semitism in arab countries. there is no other country except israel that is mostly inhabited by jews, but had there been, i am positive you would tell the jews in israel to go live in that other jewish country, because israel belongs to the arab world, although arabs owned only 5% of the land of palestine according to ottoman papers . even now, that there is no other country with a jewish majority except israel, you call for jews to live elsewhere, but not in israel, because israel belongs to palestinian arabs according to you. jordan is inhabited mostly by palestinians it is 4 times larger then israel the jews have one country israel one doesn't have o be too clever, even you can do the math to figure out where the solution is arab population of palestine has quadrupled in 60 years before the creation of israel due to arab immigration to paletine. ottoman population count in 1885 stated 230,200 arabs in palestine a few years after the zionist immigration began. alongside mandate papers that listed there wasn't just a jewish immigration, but an arab immigration too. you seem to forget arabs of palestine wanted to be a part of greater syria in the early years of british mandate, after the division of the original palestine. as you know after the collapse of the ottoman empire original palestine was all the area of israel+jordan . league of nations in 1922 stated palestine to be 80% transjordan for arabs and 20% palestine for jews. jordan is inhabbited mostly by palestinians even though they slaughtered 10,000 palestinians in jordan. you shouldn't point the finger at israel, but at the other 22 arab countries, that do not allow citizenship to their arab brothers, even though many arabs just went back after a few decades of protesting against jews living on arab soil in israel, not to mention they have relatives that live in other arab countries for centuries.
