1. why not rally your palestinian government for peace?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.20.09)
then you'd get not only more land and justice, but also you'd get better lives and a better reputation (well, actually it's hard to have a worse reputation than palestinians already have, so anything would be an improvement). you know, peace - it's a good thing. then again, if hitting one's head against a wall makes one feel like they are accomplishing something, who am i to say otehrwise?
2. On fences and borders
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (02.20.09)
The United States has a very long fortified border fence with Mexico. It doesn't work all that well, but it's there. I'm sure there are fences protecting borders between any number of hostile nations, too. Of course, if the good people of Bilin don't like the fence, they are free to pack up and leave. If they all were to do that, Israel can then dismantle the fence. Oh, happy day. (Not for nothing, but has anyone noticed "fence = no border infiltration by terrorists and suicide bombers")?
3. PROOF THAT GOOD FENCES NEVER HAVE MADE GOOD NEIGHBOURS!
stude ham   (02.20.09)
in fact good fences, like those built in israel, only attract, as proved in israel, the venomous vermin.
4. How come they don't talk about other border fences?
EST ,   Miami USA   (02.20.09)
Like the Saudi Arabia-Yemen one which "...Saudi officials told ... the "barrier of pipes and concrete" could in no way be called a "separation fence." ...is a barrier of pipes full of concrete, aimed at deterring infiltration and smuggling… Saudi authorities built a barrier ...according to the Saudis, most of the explosives and weapons captured by Saudi security forces in recent months have been smuggled in by Islamists from Yemen." Or the Afghan-Pakistan border fence??? where "...Paktika Governor Mohammad Akram Khpalwak told RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan today that the fence being erected by Pakistan represented a seizure of Afghan territory...." How come the rest of the world doesn't get involved in other nations' clashes with militants, terrorists, smugglers and insurgents yet they are obssessed with the State of Israel's defensive actions? Is it because Israel is the one and only Jewish state in the world? If that is so...then all these protesters are full of bull--- all they are is anti-Semites. Otherwise they would be protesting the numerous border fences around the world that do the same thing to other groups as the anti-terror fence in Israel does to Palestinians. Nothing else left to say about the issue.
5. Why Was The Fence Built
USABorn   (02.20.09)
Israel has every right to defend its borders from terrorists. If there were no suicide bombers or others wanting to enter and kill innocent civilians, there would be no need for a fence.
6. 3#, where were you in 2002?
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (02.20.09)
TwIce a week I take the bus from the Golan to my job in Tel Aviv. Now in 2009 I can sit back in relax, Yet in 2002 I always was convinced that each bus trip would be my last. I didn't know if a suicide bomber would blow up the bus in Afula, Hadera or Netanya. Thank G-d the northern part of the security fence is finished and I hope soon the government completes the whole route of the fence.
7. With every stupid protest, the fence in legitimized
William ,   Israel   (02.21.09)
Nevermind that the fence was built in response to the racist actions of the violent Pals, and that since it's construction both suicide bombers and stolen vehicles in Israel have ceased. Infact, even the mayor of Jenin in 2004 went on record to applaud the fence for driving the criminal element from his town, southward towards Jerusalem. Maybe Pals should rally for peace from average Pals. Rather, they protest the fence - a monument to their own self-righteous perspectives and lack of responsibility - and get violent, thus proving the worth of the fence, every Friday.
8. #3 Stude Ham
Raoul ,   Israel   (02.21.09)
You've got to be blind not to see that the security fence has been instrumental in saving a great many lives from suicide bombers. That is its one and only purpose.
9. Fences everywhere
petra ,   uSA   (02.21.09)
and only Israel is singled out. Must be anti semitism. No arabs on Americas fenced borders either "Good fences make god neighbors", "especially if they're Pals.
10. Issue is location--not fence
Oren ,   USA   (02.22.09)
Palestinians aren't against a fence separating Israel and Palestine--they just don't want the fence built on their land which is the current situation. Build a barrier along the Green Line, and there wouldn't be a problem.
