1. Dippy Tzipi
B.E. ,   Whangarei, NZ   (02.22.09)
Dippy Tzipi, soon to be forgotten - thankfully.
2. # 1 When I see the letters NZ
Sagi ,   Israel   (02.22.09)
I get excited. When I see the name Whangerei I start to foam at the mouth. It's a long story, exactly a fifty year old one. You live in paradise, you are lucky.
3. How do you solve a problem like Tsipora?
Ran   (02.22.09)
Here's $25K off you go to Paris to do some lovely shopping (black pantsuits?). Then don't let her back in. Problem solved.
4. #2 No Sagi, I live in paradise, most of NZ now live here :-)
Scott ,   Sunshine Coast, Aust   (02.22.09)
Seems like more Kiwi's here than Aussie's now - Stop the Occupation!!!
5. Livni tricked voters by not revealing her "land give away"
Scott ,   Sunshine Coast, Aust   (02.22.09)
I cant say that I heard her saying very much if at all about giving half of Israel away - before the election. I don't think its at all unreasonable to state that she would not have received as many mandates if she had openly declared that is what she had in mind. Many people might have supported her - but not to go along with idea of handing over territory...and only half the country too...what an idiot! Israel is very lucky she is not in a position to form anything , let alone a government.
6. To #1,2,3: Wow! You have very short memories!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.22.09)
Maybe #1 doesn't know how we struggled to get rid of the corrupt, self seeking and generally no good Netanyahu Government! We even changed the law to ensure that it could not happen again, but, G-d help us, its has! Kadimah's voters voted for Kadimah. Netanyahu's Likud will succeed because of Shas and the extreme right wing. Netanyhau seems to think that all the voting papers of the right wing parties had "Netanyahu" on them. His very much mistaken. How can you expect Livni to go into a Government with Shas who brought down the Kadimah Government because she would not give into their demands for NIS1 billion and go and kiss the ??? of the Rav Ovadia? Netanyahu has sold his sole to Shas and it will be very interesting how the party that called Lieberman the "Amalek" and the "devi"l will sit in the same government with him. Also, when Shas demands that Lieberman gives up his demands of Civil Marriage and Electoral Reform, it will be interesting to how he will explain this to his voters! As for those who think that Netanyahu won't give away the Golan Heights and Territories, well, have you forgotten the Wye Plantation Agreement by which our dear Bibi gave away Hebron, the foundation stone of Judaism and left 400 zealots there facing 160,000 terrorists? Bibi will do exactly what Obama tells him to do! Even Begin toed the line with Carter. Only Shamir put his foot down with Bush I. As for #2's NZ comment, well, when I see NZ I think of the anti-Semitism in NZ led by former PM Helen Clark and a "Sign placed at entrance to pub in Kaikoura reads, ‘Israelis not welcome before Gaza shelling stops’". http://doctorbulldog.wordpress.com/2009/01/16/no-jews-allowed/ Nice enlightened country NZ! OK to kill Jews!
7. # 6 David
Sagi ,   Israel   (02.22.09)
Just childhood memories, very dear to me. You want to take that away from me?
8. # 4 Scott NZ is Paradise
Sagi ,   Israel   (02.22.09)
but I do agree that your location is the next best thing. Best wishes.
9. No reason for coalition
Yoann ,   Paris, France   (02.22.09)
There is no point for her to join the coalition. She would appear beaten and her influence would be crushed by Bibi. She has every reasons in the world to lead the opposotion, and is already targeting 2013. Very poorly written article by the way..
10. Down-under experts
Shachar ,   Eilat   (02.22.09)
Suddenly the leading experts on Israeli politics are from Whangerai and Surfers Paradise....that's funny. I think living upside down has caused the urine to drip into their brains. Tzippora has our backing to do as she sees fit.
11. Good riddance to bad garbage
Tony M.   (02.22.09)
12. Livni ain't exactly clever
Alexander ,   Herzliya, Israel   (02.22.09)
The fact that Livni ain't particularly clever is no news. She is no statesman and no real leader. She is just a simple politician. But even if we suppose that she was a clever egoistic politician that only cares about her career and cares nothing for her country, she would do everything in her power to get a career and ultimately popularity that would lead her to her long desired PM post. Many people in Kadima - including Shaul Mofaz, are mad at her for not joining a coalition with Likud. At this difficult hour, Israel must stand united and cast party politics aside. Iran and Iranian nukes don't care about who is Likud and who is Kadima. Our enemies want us dead no matter what party we may or may not belong to. If the country is dead, then how is she supposed to lead Israel? Two, if she only cared about her career, she should then make herself popular among the Kadima people. And joining a coalition would give Israelis the impression that she is mature and wise. She is neither. Her perverted lust and hunger for power makes her look stupid because she is a very very stupid woman - unfortunately.
13. Good for Israel ?
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (02.22.09)
Does the writer realy believes that a coalition of Likud, Yisrael Beiteinu, Shas, and Kadima is good for Israel. I don't think so ! It will not be stable and will have to obey all Shas demands. What about a coalition of Kadima, Likud and Labour ?
14. There real problem is that
Mike ,   Haifa   (02.22.09)
most Kadima people face with jail if Mazuz leaves his office. In fact, Mazuz himself can end up in jail. They have no joice. Ramon, Bar-On, Olmert, etc got out too easy but HaNegbi and other probably go to jail
15. #20 Has your backing...not OURS!
Jjjay3 ,   Israel, formely Aust   (02.22.09)
Dont speak for me or others please. I dont want to see my land given away to my enemies. As for your rude comments, people from Australia and NZ have a right to voice their opinions too! Its obvious to many outside of Israel that dippy Tzippi is pathetically useless and has accomplished nothing in the past but more appeasement and surrender.
16. Livni was a Terrible Foreign Minister
Joshua ,   New Brunswick, NJ   (02.22.09)
The foreign ministry and Israel's PR has been destitute since she took over the Foreign Affairs Ministry. Her own record speaks for itself in terms of governance. She subverted her own prime minister while still in office and had more to say about domestic policy than about expanding Israel's diplomatic relationships. If she blames this on Israel's need to fight the wars of the last three years, then she might as well throw out her entire platform. Obviously, the needs of the country would outweigh any sense in a two-state solution with a Hamas-Fatah Palestinian Authority.
17. You do not understand what goes into her decision
Sam ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.22.09)
Many Kadima people are investigated by police. they may go to prison. Sharon sold Gaza to avoid prison. Livni will do everything to avoid prison for her people. Forget ideology, forget everything.
18. P.S.#2 Hold onto your dreams.
B.E. ,   Whangarei, NZ   (02.23.09)
You personally have a return invitation to Whangarei any time. Those who never hold onto dreams, like the whole of Israeli land, don't deserve to have them fulfilled. P.O. Box 10062 Te Mai, Whangarei. My story isn't about luck. I was sent with my lovely wife to fulfill one dream, of building my own home on 10 acres in the country!! Yes!!
19. Haters of NZ???
B.E. ,   Whangarei, NZ   (02.23.09)
I spent 10 years in LA, was only goy in an all Jewish high school club. Have Abraham as my spiritual father, the Almighty as my God. You are welcome here anytime, despite Helen Clark and anti-semites everywhere. Love God's people, wherever they are. HAve taught in 8 unis in 4 nations, know something, and know what is coming - it's in the one book that will remain - even after what's coming down in this year and the next ten. Seek Him while He may be found, all Israel and all believers everywhere.
20. Tzipi Livni
Walter ,   Portland, USA   (02.23.09)
Ms. Livni comes does not come across very well. She is inarticulate in English, which is really a requirement now for an Israeli Prime Minister. Also, she seems to be rigidly fixated on negotiations with the Palestinians, whether they have any prospects of success or not. Finally, some of her comments in public regarding coalitions with other parties like Likud border on the petulant. Frankly, if I were an Israeli, I would cringe at the prospect of such a person leading.
21. Livni and the Magic Mirror
Mike ,   Tel Aviv   (02.23.09)
Tzippy keeps looking at the mirror and asking the same question. Mirror, mirror on the wall, whose the smartest of them all?? So far the mirror hasn't answered, but Tzippy is convinced she is the smartest. This is why she is so stupid. She has made so many mistakes and not ever admitted to any of them. Thank God she is staying out of the coalition. She is a danger to our country. Although I can understand why Bibi is afraid to make a right wing coalition, I think he will do just fine if that's what ends up being his only choice. Let Tzippy sit in the opposition, let Kadima call for new elections, and let's hope someone, anyone, takes her place. Our country and the Kadima voters deserve better. Much better
