1. If not after this election, not after the next one either
Ilan ,   Ariel   (02.24.09)
Kadima has every right not to give up it's policies in regards to the Palestinians, but that right also extends to the Likud. Kadima might be able to force early elections, but even they do better next time around then the Likud will feel obligated to sit in the opposition.
2. A right wing coalition being unmanageable or monstrous?
Adam Eliyahu   (02.24.09)
Why is that stated as a fact? That deeply disturbs me. It seems to be totally acceptable to entirely ignore what a clear majority of the voters want. It would be a moral choice for Bibi to actually represent the voters, something the politicians and press seem to forget. Let me state an opposing fact, one that actually has facts to support it, unlike Mr. Barnea's brainwashed propaganda. A left wing or unity government does not represent the people, would alienate the majority of the population, and in the past has led the country to war and ruin. I could say that Kadima epitomizes government corruption but that is only mostly accurate.
3. Bibi has sold his soul to Shas!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.24.09)
He made his bed. Now he must lie in it and look forward to the next general election in 6 to 9 months time!
4. gave away hebron/armed yasser arafat's"police"/demoted
known record of ,   betrayal so far   (02.24.09)
the right wing likud member feiglin out of jealousy and fear of a real right wing leader that he felt threatened by. so yes netanyahu has a track record of betrayal of the right wing. once bitten rwice shy----i wouldn't trust him---why else would he want kadima and labor to join him other than to complete the formalities of their surrender to hamas and fatah?
5. Amplification on post #2
Yehudi   (02.24.09)
It is illogical to reject some rightist coalition partners just because they support a unified Land of Israel. When one says "Land of Israel" it conjures the image of a Greater Israel. But if one studies international law – particularly the San Remo Resolution of April 24-25, 1920 – one comes to the amazing discovery that this agreement and the subsequent boundary convention meant the international community was legally obligated to include the entire Land of Israel within Palestine. Thus, the presumed dissonance between the State of Israel and the Land of Israel is belied by the legal-history. Please, you owe it to yourself to read the most comprehensive and up-to-date book on the subject Howard Grief's The Legal Foundation and Borders of Israel under International Law, available on Amazon.
6. Livni and preconditions
Brod ,   USA   (02.25.09)
Livni needs to live with the rest of Israel. She should not be setting out preconditions. The fact is the majority of the people have elected the Right Wing components. Hence, she could not and should not put up preconditions that would discriminate any of the Right Wing components. They are a fabric in society that stands on solid ground.
7. Unity
Fred ,   Greenwood USA   (02.25.09)
Unity is unity which should include all, right, left and center. Besides an atomic bomb kills everything on its left, right and center. You can talk politics after your threats have been taken care of.
8. Bibi - Rightists betrayal
DT ,   TA Isr   (02.24.09)
He already has and I was certain he would. His betrayal was as certain as night follows day
9. #8: His betrayal started with Faiglin, and it cost him
Adam Eliyahu Berkowi   (02.25.09)
Hindsight is 20/20 but only if you use it. Bibi obviously doesn't. Faiglin has very strong and loyal support, something Bibi lacks. Had Bibi kept Faiglin, he would have gotten that extra seat and beaten Livni.
10. Likud must stay right-wing
Steve   (02.25.09)
The right wing bloc got 65 seats. The leftist and Arab parties got 55, but they cannot be considered a 'bloc' because Livni, Barak, the Arab parties and Meretz aren't exactly getting along with eachother. The public has chosen the right wing parties to run the country. The public did not choose a left-wing government. They want right wing policies. I like and respect Benjamin Netanyahu, but he needs to stick to his right wing policies. I used to support Kadima, but after seeing all the stuff ups I shifted my support to Likud. If Bibi makes Sharon's mistake and shifts to the left, next election I'll be more than happy to throw my support behind Yisrael Beitenu.
11. Loyalty not puppets can seek self respect for the People.
Martin ,   Johannesgurg north   (02.25.09)
Bibi walks into Pres Peres office on the back of the Right wing group. With respect the Pres say make a unity govt. He was not voted by the electorate. So with a right wing power base he get asked to form a leftwing govt for whose sake. Is the pres not overplaying his position. Surely Bibi should not turn his back the religious right wing becuase the left wanted to be in oposition. Surely they made their choices. Bibi you went into the election fighting leftwing with a right wing platform now you have changed your platform just because Pres asked so nicely. Surely you are politically compromised by an ex Labour senior member and you dont even think twice about dropping the right. Can we trust such game playing if loyalty goes out the window . Can anyone trust you. The country needs good believable trustworthy leadership before pragmatics. Now we must be naive to believe. You said you trusted in the A-mighty when you anounced your government. The puny excuse the the country face an economic and security crisis gives Bibi the right play compromising games and make all sorts of concessions inthe face of the right whuch was your platform. surely your thought and vision for the country you lead are based on stronger stuff the appeasing politicians to suit the occassion. Are we a football or a Jewish country deserving of forthright direction. Your right to choose was based on the words you utter. Be true to yourself or lets have a proper new election. The pres may well want to steer the ship to suit his loyalties and socalled competances of the players. I dont think or Bibi have the right to make fun and embarrass us. Livni also offered the right all just to lead. Lets have strong leaders not puppets.
12. #8 and #9: You are right
Avraham ,   los angeles   (02.26.09)
Left and right are so far apart but left is in the majority. The left with Natanyahu in charge are: Likud, Kadima, Labor and if you notice they are always smiling and friendly one with another The Right are Yisrael Beiteinu, Shas and other far rightists but they are always fighting, This is so ridiculous. The country is facing many dangers from in and out. If 80% of the country are for Feiglin and Lieberman, No nation will stampede it.
13. 12 Reasons why Netanyahu should tell Livni to get lost
JJ Youngblood ,   Yuma, Arizona USA   (03.01.09)
12 REASONS WHY NETANYAHU SHOULD LEAVE LIVNI OUT OF HIS GOVERNMENT AND CONSIGN HER TO THE DUSTBIN OF HISTORY: LIVNI AND THE LEFT LOST THE ELECTION BY A MARGIN OF 65 KNESSET SEATS FOR THE RIGHTIST CAMP VERSES 55 SEATS FOR THE COMBINED LEFTIST-ARAB CAMP. THE PUBLIC HAS REJECTED HER DEFEATIST SELF HATING LEFTIST POLICIES !!!! Livni wanted to surrender Jerusalem to Hamas and Fatah. Livni wanted to surrender the Golan to the Syrians Livni wanted to surrender Judea and Samaria to Hamas Livni allowed Hamas to rebuild the tunnels and they are now once again firing rockets with no Israeli retaliation Livni intended to release thousands of Hamas and PLO suicide bombers and baby butchers. Livni intended to expel anywhere from 100,000 to 350,000 Jews from Jerusalem, Judea Samaria and the Golan. Livni is just as corrupt as her fellow defeatist mentor Olmert was and will disgrace Israel. Livni and her corrupt Kadima party believe in "land for NO peace". Livni and her Kadima party will do nothing to stop the Iranian Nazi's from obtaining the bomb just as they did nothing for 4 years. Livni's Kadima party represents leftist self hate and hates those who practice authentic Judaism. Livni and her fellow extreme leftists have destroyed the Israeli economy Please click below to visit our website: WWW.LIVNIMUSTGO.BLOGSPOT.COM Please forward this urgent email to all of your friends and neighbors.
