1. it has been dead...
Igor D. ,   New York   (02.24.09)
peace process has died long time ago. back when rockets were fired into israel and when hamas took over gaza. palestinians have no one to blame but themselves for yet another missed opportunity
2. long dead "peace process"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (02.24.09)
the salami politics conducted by abu mazzen has never been a "peace process", but a "piece process", of extorting the maximum concessions, one at a time, from a gullible israeli government. not a single commitment by the palestinian anarchy has ever been honoured, but the price has kept going up. this can only be called a "peace process" in so much as it was a means for the plo to dismantle israel without actually going to war. the oslo agreements died when yasser arafat chose "jihad, jihad, jihad" over the interests of the palestinians, and launched his carefully prepared intifada. now abu mazzen wants to cry crocodile tears over its demise - in the words of the prophet: "ha'gam ratzahtah ve'gam yarashtah?"
3. They Gave You Gaza For Peace
USABorn   (02.24.09)
Abbas should take back Gaza from Hamas. Israel gave it to the Palestinians, now they are continuosly being bombed from there. Any land Israel may give up for peace is only putting the enemy closer.
4. Ha!
Ezra ,   California   (02.24.09)
Now we know there's hope for Israel.
5. A few kind words. The kind that gets...
Gideon Reader   (02.24.09)
your mouth washed out with soap,...and I for one am delighted to say Kaddish for it (the alleged Peace process").
6. peace process
PW ,   Virginia USA   (02.24.09)
As if Hamas and Fatah are not extremist...The peace will come when Arabs renounce war and terror and accept Israel as a free and Jewish state...Name to me one conciliatory gesture that the Arabs have ever done to move the "peace process" closer to peace...
7. The talks were only ever for appearances!
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (02.24.09)
The PA and Arafat turned down incredibly generous offers because they want the whole of Israel. And even Israel's die hard leftists couldn't agree to that. Mike
8. a coded message to bibi & obama
zionist forever   (02.24.09)
Dont form a coalition with the right wing under any circumstances form a liberal left coalition with Livni and remind Obama to turn up the heat make sure that Netanyahu & Livni understand that the only coalition that the US will accept is those two and not a right wing one. Already it seems Bibi has no desire to join the right. Its been 2 weeks since the election and we are still playing whose going to be in the coalition. Natanyahu has met at least once with both Livni & Barak who have both turned him down but he doesn't seem to want to take no for an answer and he hasn't been making any of these gestures towards the right who are the ones who are the reason that peres chose him to form a coalition over Livni. Lets get a right wing coalition have a complete change in policy towards oslo. For nearly 20 years we have been playing the same game over an over, different politicians, different names for the package ( oslo, Camp David, Roadmap ) but its been the same basic policy from Peres shaking hands with Arafat on the White House lawn to present day. Now lets start looking in new directions like accepting the idea Jordan is Palestine. The palestinians legaly become Jordanian citizens & Israel negotiates the return of some parts of Judea & Samaria to Jordan & the world puts together a financial package for Jordan to help them cover cost and as a way of saying thanks. A deal like that in principle could be with Jordan in months all it takes is for all sides to accept thats the way forward.
9. The Palis know what our gov't will look like?
Sharona ,   Jerusalem   (02.24.09)
Wow! The Oslo "peace" process died from Pali suicide/homicide bombers and from 10,000 rockets on Sderot. Nothing to do with this or any other Israeli government!
10. lol What else do we expect from the Zionist Entity.
RJBH ,   Methil   (02.24.09)
11. YES, HaShem wins!!!!!!!!
bemet ,   haifa, israel   (02.24.09)
Did they really think G-d was going to loose?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12. Poor baby, he looks so sad.
Douglas Miller ,   Detroit, USA   (02.24.09)
Crockadile tears, at best , from Abbas. What the Arabs mean by "peace process" is "whatever we can get the stupid Jews to give us without giving up anything." The PA as the lead terrorist gang is dedicated to the annihilation of Israel. You can't make peace with those who don't want peace. The free ride is over, Mahmoud.
13. Idon't think
(02.24.09)
Bibi is just bla bla man , when he was PM before in the begining he said Yaser Arafat is a terrorist and he doesn't deal with terrorist ... later he shaked his hand and he was one step to sign a peace deal with him .... bla bla bla .
14. "Peace process dead"
Translating Arabic ,   Mecca   (02.24.09)
What it really means: "Damn Jews elected a government that has a spine and won't let us walk all over them threatening their very existence. We demand the Eurabians attack the new government and put pressure on them to do whatever we demand!"
15. Peace Process Died when refugees rejected Camp David offers
Historical Observer ,   NY   (02.24.09)
Blame it on the incoming administration (really stupid since they haven't formed the govt. yet Abbas wishes to whine already), blame it on the war in Gaza (which was started by hamas not Israel), blame it on the war in Lebanon (nothing to do with peace with refugees, but alas another reason to blame Israel), or blame it on the fact that nobody is interested in peace yet. I'd say the closest to peace was when arafat and barack were at Camp David with Clinton. Instead, the PLO screwed over their people at the prospect of real peace with Israel. Why? Who knows, it's just my opinion, and maybe we'll never know...
16. He knows?
Michael D. ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (02.24.09)
How does he know the government that's going to be formed before anyone else?
17. mr. abas, with all due respect
(02.24.09)
if you can really look at yourselves, the palestinians, at hamas and the palestinian vote for a terrorist entity that doesn't believe in the existence of israel and jews in the middle east, at the violent bombing and terror done by hamas for the past 6 years, for the suicide bombing which forced insrael to make it tough for palestinians in west bank by erecting a wall to protect israelis from suicide bombers eminating from the west bank palestinian community.. you would do well to look IN YOUR DIRECTION, IN HAMAS DIRECTION AND IN IRAN/SYRIAN MISCHEIF, WHO DO NOT INTEND TO HAVE PEACE WITH ISRAEL AND USE YOU ALL TO FIGHT THEIR WAR FOR THEM. nothing that remotely resembles today's palestinian situation would have been possible without iran, syria, palestinians and hizbullah's influence. you would do well to look at the above, mr. abas and stop blaming the israelis for your intra fighting, religious intollerance and extgremism and for your history of conflict and war, revenge and blood shed wherever muslims live. if you want your own state, you have to accept the viability and existence of another instead of trying to do your utmost to destroy israel so that you can finally have a state.
18. Abbas realized his money is not coming
Zohan ,   Tel Aviv   (02.24.09)
19. Israel gave land and hot houses, PA gave bombs
David ,   Boston, USA   (02.24.09)
hmm, who ended the peace process? If the Arabs really wanted peace it would have happened overnight. They just want to make demands. Go back to Jordan Palestine. The reality is, no one really cares about you, especially your fellow Arabs. Everyone gives you lip service except for Israel and you send bombs to Israel in return. Think about this. This is why there is no peace.

let me tell you what you expected and got... in 2000-2001, mr. barak offered arafat during a meeting with clinton, prince bandar of saudi arabia and various politicians, the entire west bank minus 3%, the entire east jerusalem to be a palestinian capital of palestine and a complete gaza. ARAFAT WANTED IT ALL, WALKED OUT AND SAID NO! started the intifada in which scores of both israelis and palestinians died for nothing. now, abu mazen wants the same territories which arafat refused. so, what is the difference. we were willing to give up all for peace and arafat began to murder us in 2001, which lasted in blood shed for 4 years until israel put the uprizing and terror down by building a wall and fence to protect against suicide bombers from the west bank and gaza areas. this kind of palestinian and their leaders' behavior is not conducive to attaining a state whose population, after years of indoctrination and hate and revenge, refuse to live or do not want to live peacefully with others in this region. prince bandar, as well as clinton were furious with arafat's decision to walk away from the best offer he could have ever attained. it was a shame because palestinians could have had a state with east jerusalem as capital for the past decade now. but it was all or nothing for arafat, and with the help of syria, which, can never afford to have peace in this region (because then their regime would fall to the extremists in syria), pressed arafat to not accept the deal israel was offering. also, to create a homeland for the palestinians which have been used by the arabs and the totalitarian regimes in the most brutal ways, one has to build a state on trust, on showing that they can live without terrorism against another state, on creating a society that establishes a need to advance, to create, to study, to develope, to be peaceful, to coexist with an outstreched hand for peace and harmony in the region, a society that strives for cohesion, for success, for building infrastructures, hospitals, community centers, a good educational system free of incoitement, of hate, of propaganda and lies and demonization of others....a society that is viable to suceed is not the way the palestinians choose to behave or act. terrorism has brought nothing to both sides but blood shed and missed opportunities on the palestinian side for over 60 years. why not try something different? why not try to change the school system finish with unrwa and start working on making money yourselves absolve mosques and tv channels that produce extremism, hate, demonization and revenge calls. work on educating the young not at tghe point of the gun, but at the point of good history, good science, good social studies and good productivity. the palestinians could have done what the israelis in gush katif did while they lived in gaza. they built. they didn't destroy. they worked the land, built farmland, communities, civil societies, an agricultural system, etc... why could they suceed and not the palestinians in gaza? it's a matter of wanting, not a matter of being able to do it because we know that if palestinians wanted it and chose smart leaders that have their best interests at heart, the palestinians could have acheived a great democratic state of their own with israel's help, with the european and american help. giving gaza 900 million now is wasting money. you need to change your society!
21. Who's Kidding Whom?
Dan ,   Titusville, FL USA   (02.24.09)
There is no peace process...never has been. You cannot make peace with those actively murdering you, whose philosophy is to destroy you and your land, who teaches children that you are less than human and convinces adolescents that they can acheive their 72 virgins by murdering innocents.
22. Poor Abbas.....with his head in hands
Lior ,   Israel/U.S   (02.24.09)
Perhaps he should go and visit his friend Samir Kuntar in Beirut again. Perhaps Kuntar could bring Abbas comfort proclaiming neither will rest until all of Israel is destroyed. I just love how the Palestinians feel it is their duty to make moral equivalences when throughout the PA hang posters on every corner and in every school and in every home and shop and office showing ---->all of Israel Palestine. The world did this to them you know. The world enabled this outrageous sanctimonious BS we hear from Abbas and his terrorist followers. They need do nothing for peace themselves but blow up Jews and incite to virulent hate against us.
23. what? No more land for terror?
Golan ,   SL   (02.24.09)
You mean we are not going to give up any more land with one hand while with the other hiding our eyes and ignoring terror? You mean that the "korban hashalom" was nothing more than retzah meyutar? You mean the only two state solution is a Jewish "west" bank and an Arab Trans-Jordan? You mean the only way to end end friction between the two peoples is population transfer? (Jews out of Gaza, Arabs out of everything east of the Jordan River.) I can live with that.
24. What a Joke
Ethan ,   Eilat   (02.24.09)
Hamas and the PA got just the Israeli government they wanted. They know the ridicules whirled press will run with the absurd concept that Israel is preventing the peace.
25. No Israeli gov ever wanted peace
Sal the Saudi ,   Tayma   (02.24.09)
At least the Likud is honest about it.
26. Even if Israel had an extreme Left government with Arab PM
Jake   (02.24.09)
It would not make one lick of difference. Palestine still would not exist. The reason Palestine does not exist has nothing to do with Sharon or Bibi or Israel, but with the Arab, Moslem, and Palestinian backsliding mindset. They are moving backward, not forward. They have none of the trappings of statehood to become a state. Every Israeli withdrawal has turned into a Hamas or Hizbullah stronghold, where no state can ever have authority. Palestine is not even a virtual state. It is an abstraction. And this has absolutely bugger-all to do with Israel.
27. Peace Process dies when Abass orchestrated Munich Massacre!
Jjjay3 ,   Israel   (02.24.09)
Why doesnt Peres, Olmert and Livni ever bring that up?
28. It's just like an arab to blame a Jew for all his woes
Mike ,   Modi'in   (02.25.09)
29. just like PA and other...
smith   (02.25.09)
30. Oh come, come, come Abbas....
David H ,   Cape Town   (02.25.09)
What peace process? How much have you moved in any way? At the end of the day, YOU are responsible as YOU haven't compromised or given anything in the slightest. Not a millimeter. Nothing! What amateur dramatics on your part.
