1. Sorry, it doesn't work that way
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (02.24.09)
A sovereign state (such as Israel) is under no obligation to recognize a terrorist rabble. Only sovereign nations are eligible for recognition. Erdogan is a dumb cluck.
2. erdogan peace broker for iran
Alexi   (02.24.09)
Erdogan now can screw up the iran file as he does everything to please his palestinian wife who sees only israeli lies. The US will sadly find out where erdogan's heart really lies. He has little effect on hamas violence though he sees them as a version of his own party. Well, Bibi is not olmert who was a first rate coward with gentiles.erdogan can take his rhetoric and shove it up his ass. The Turkish military has succcumbed to the destruction of the ataturk legacy, gul and erodogan who put a suit on islamic radicalism put an end to entry into the EU, which is dead.
3. TWO STAES? DOES HE MEAN HAMAS AND FATAH LANDS?
stude ham   (02.24.09)
quite lately, this turk has shown unbelievable hostility towards israel.
4. Erdogan is a moderate Muslim....
Moshe ,   USA   (02.25.09)
... he blasts Israel gently and gives Hamas a verbal lashing with a wet noodle... not one of these leaders gives a crap about peace!
5. #2 Erdogan & EU
(02.25.09)
Don't be so quick to think that Turkish military and seculars would let this go on. Elections are on the way in March. Oh, one more note, most Turks have always been against the EU. EU has supported Erdogan to weaken Ataturk's legacy and the role of military in Turkey. Erdogan is a monster created by many different powers.
6. Read your history books
Rivkah Rybak ,   Israel   (02.25.09)

7. Erdogan Slams Netabyahu
Mick ,   Warrington   (02.25.09)
Irrelevant man trying to claw back some relevance. Too little too late. His rhetoric has already betrayed him and Turkey can no longer be an honest broker with him in charge

13. #3 Erdogan?
(02.25.09)
Who says Erdogan is a Turk? Yes, he is the PM of Turkey but he is of Georgian origin, his wife is an Arab, and most of his supporters are religious Kurds and some other minorities in Turkey. Most Turks are seculars and dislike Erdogan's Islamic politics.
14. Hamas and Hizbullah are glorified in Turkey
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (02.25.09)
Radical Turkish Islamists have been organizing nightly programs in cities across Turkey under the slogan, “A free Al-Quds [the Muslim term for Jerusalem], A world without Israel.” The halls are decked out with photos of Hizbullah Chief Hassan Nasrallah and former Hamas Chief Ahmed Yassin. PLO flags are draped over the speaker’s podium. At the events, Hamas and Hizbullah are glorified as Israel and Western countries demonized, and jihadist speeches are delivered. Participants are offered the chance to donate to the groups or even to enroll in training to join them in their terrorist operations. Similar events are frequently held in the mainly Kurdish southeast and east of the country, with huge audiences turning out as efforts are increased to indoctrinate those populations. 15. A preventive strike against a declared genocidal Iran ...
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (02.25.09)
A preventive strike against a declared genocidal Iran should not be postpones. A nuclear Iran has become an increasingly contentious issue as Ahmadinejad will not have any moral consideration keeping him from using the atomic bomb. A preventive strike against a declared genocidal Iran, will be a severe blow to world terrorism and will reduce significantly our problems with the terrorist state of Syria, the Hizbullah and Hamas. It will also remove the threat of a nuclear missile attack on Europe, Russia, China and India. The population in the West, as well as in the other peace loving countries will feel safer again. 18. Free Armenia you hypocrite!
Ariel ,   Judean Hills   (02.25.09)
19. Netanyahu already recognized the Palestinian Authority.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (02.25.09)
And he continued the Oslo Accords during his time as Prime Minister. Hamas, on the other hand, broke the Oslo Accords and called them null and void. So who is not recognizing whom here?
20. Question to Turkish Jews
Karen ,   NY NY   (02.25.09)
Would you be coming to DC again to advocate for your government? http://www.forward.com/articles/11847/
21. @talkbackers, and @#13: You expect hamas to recognize
JayZ ,   Jerusalem   (02.25.09)
You expect hamas to recognize Israel but, you don't even recognize Palestine, with whatever kind of democratic government their people chose. This is double standard. #13 In which year are you living? Armenia is already free and a recognized state, the problems between both Turkey and Armenia is almost solved, but keeps getting hits by the Armenian Expats lobbying against their own people and state before Turkey, just to gain some political power and sick selfish benefits.
22. erdogan needs to shut the hell up !!!!!
Me ,   planet Earth   (02.25.09)

26. This guy has no role to play. He should butt out.
Nudnik   (02.25.09)
Erdogan has already shown his bias and not in any way somebody to 'broker' anything. In fact - this guy is now just another interfering meddler that will make matters worse for relations all round - especially Israel/Turkey. He's a wanker.

29. "Hamas' refusal to recognize Israel's right to exist "
Asher (Truth Hurts) ,   Jerusalem   (02.25.09)
Very well said., Mr Turk. Just like hamas will never recognize, we do not have to recognize either. By the way, don't you people have a better word than the constantly used word "slam" So much slamming going around. A definite win win situation for Israel. The world has been for centuries trying to rid the jews. I gues you think your god is bigger & stronger than our G-d.
30. #21-- I think your reply is to #18
Dave ,   Ramat Gan   (02.25.09)
I agree with your points. Just wanted to make sure if your reply was to 18. There is so much misinformation here about Israel, Palestinians, Turkey, Armenia etc...so much opinion but so much misinformation on these issues...
