1. New norms?!
Brian M. ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.26.09)
The 'new norms' referred to should really be called the 'new math:' She has nowhere near enough Knesset seats. The left got clobbered in this election, and it is about time this is made clear. Including the Arab parties, it was 65-55; not including the Arab parties, it was 65-44. Not even close. Deal with it, Anat.
2. Keep dreaming
David   (02.26.09)
I agree with the writer. Tzipi should continue dreaming. As long as she doesn't govern, it will be less harmful for Israel.
3. I did not vote for Kadima
Sagi ,   Israel   (02.26.09)
I certainly respect Livni for attempting to change our rotten system and for expressing her desire to keep to her word and change the way politcians and parties treat the voters who put them in their seats. I shall have less than zero respect for her if she gives in and joins the Government. I am sure she will, in fact it is a foregone conclusion.
4. #3
Michael ,   Haifa   (02.26.09)
Sagi's response accurately reflects my own view. He expressed it excellently.
5. Dreams into Realities
Rita ,   Israel   (02.26.09)
I agree with the writer. Livni is a breath of fresh air in the stagnation called politics in this country. I am tired of the politicians selling out for a minister's post. She won and should be the Prime Minister, but because of the way this system works, she won't be. Then, I say, "You Go Girl!" Tell them like it is! Stick to your principles and stay in opposition. Don't betray your ideals and the dreams you have for our children. Together with Labor you can make a strong opposition. It's about time for real change in this country. Let's move forward and stop the corruption in gov't. Stay the course Tzipi!
6. IT IS possible for a woman to be totally wrong. Livni.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.26.09)
7. A woman rigging a primaries is new how?
Ilan ,   Ariel   (02.26.09)
Lil' Tzip the zero got to where she is, the leader of a party of brigands and thieves, by rigging the primaries to beat Mofaz. Great example of 'new' politics. You'll find more principles from the women soliciting in our red light districts.
8. Excellent article
Rina   (02.26.09)
Excellent article. I voted for Kadima because of Livni's integrity. Hope I wasn't dreaming.
9. Dreamer???
frank ,   israel   (02.26.09)
I guess I was dreaming when she catagorically stated she would not sit with liberman, no way, no how. and then not a week later, Liberman actually has more in common with us...etc etc etc. The only dream she has is the same as every other politician. Power. Power=money. Me me me. Dreams of being powerful and wealthy. not a new dream by any means.....
10. Only if Bibi would stick to his principles
Ron ,   israel   (02.26.09)
The right didn't vote for Livni because we don't support the two state solution. BiBi don't betray us!!
11. Mrs. Livni please proudly go into oposition!
Sally Forth   (02.26.09)
Let the right go right ahead and lead themselves into another election that should teach them!
12. nevermind
LILI ,   jerusalem   (02.26.09)
women dreaming is less dangerouse than men dreaming .but neverminde it is only women talks
13. Livni is poltically naive and a failed negotiator.
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (02.26.09)
Livni must be the brunt of winks and jokes amongst probably every other MK when the talk turns to negotiating. She takes everything at face value and doesn't understand that a bargaining process is taking place. Imagine how the PA team must have chuckled when she left a meeting understanding that she'd believed every false promise they'd made. Mike
14. new norms
(02.26.09)
Anat Gov should know that Livni's faking election results to defeat Mofaz in the Kadima primaries was not new.
15. Don't stop dreaming
Alberto ,   Jerusalem   (02.26.09)
Full support to Ms. Livni. She's showing to have the guts of a statesperson, fighting for her convictions even against foes and friends. She's not the usual money-monger, ready to sell his mother for a post.
16. People die when you base policy on fantasy (dreams)
Nili ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.26.09)
No amount of dreaming will prevent terrorism or change the stated goal of the PA. WAKE UP - you have to get out of bed before you can sit in the PM chair.
17. #3
Ros ,   Tel Aviv   (02.26.09)
What govt. are you expecting? I hope Tzpi sticks to her beliefs! I believe in her.
18. Yes Anat her 'dream' team cost us dearly
nightmare price   (02.26.09)
More than all the other parties put together. Dream 'n Spin A.A style. What a disgrace.
19. BUT TZIPPY IS REALLY DREAMING
carlo   (02.26.09)
TZIPY WANTS 2 STATES FOR 2 NATIONS. NAMELY SHE WANTS A PALESTINIAN STATE. THE COUNTRY OVERWHELMLY (60%) VOTED OTHERWISE. SHE MAY STICK TO HER PRINCIPLES, BUT THEY ARE FOOLISH PRICIPLES. ONLY A MINORITY WANTS TO CREATE ANOTHER ENEMY STATE. THE MAJORITY DO NOT WANT TO DREAM. THEY WANT TO LIVE.
20. LIVNI MISLEAD VOTERS ABOUT 50% LAND GIVE AWAY
Nudnik   (02.26.09)
Never forget it. That is what she said straight after the election. Livni the dreamer thinks its a good idea to give half of Israel away for 'peace'. Now, if this deceptive person had been honest with the voters - there would not be a situation as it is now - as no one except morons would vote for her. She can stop dreaming - what a crap article.
21. Wake up Livni: peace begins at home...
Ohev Tsion ,   Israel   (02.26.09)
...so make peace with the Likud before you go running after Abbas and his corrupt P.A.
22. Bibi is going to Bushwack all of us! Let him do alone!
(02.26.09)
then Mrs. Livni can proudly stand in the Barak Obama position and fix the mess that is left behind! Only real question is will the State of Israel and its people survive another term of with Mr. Bibiyahoo!
23. Livni's dream
MC ,   Uk   (02.26.09)
#19, is absolutely right. It's Livn's policies that are so damaging that's the problem. Her dreams are most people's nightmares! The 2 state solution is dead and shoukld be buried this is what Livni needs to wake up too. There's a country to run not to demolish!
24. #15 Ha'umnan?
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.26.09)
Livni had no convictions but just wanted a Volvo when she betrayed the Likud voters who got her in the Knesset to join Sharon in Kadima. Last week Zippy was begging Avigdor Lieberman to recommend her for PM. Wake up, Zippy is as greedy and corrupt as any Kadima member.
25. Politics vs integrity
common sense   (02.26.09)
Unfortunately the two terms aren't compatible in State leadership. Olmert is considered a good PM and yet his integrity tends to 0 . Nobody is perfect, much less in politics . That's why Tzipi is doomed to fail .
26. Livni would be best qualified as a nursury teacher
Norman   (02.26.09)
All the chidren can dream with her. Plus she will not destroy our nation.
27. #26 - sadly like Tamir she would teach them to dream
redbourn ,   Tel Aviv   (02.26.09)
of giving away 1/2 of the country. Mike
28. We should all be proud of Livni's norms and the fact
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.27.09)
that so many people voted for her, and by so doing have voted for improved norms in the conduct of public policy.
29. Thank Gd she's said no, but who knows
dreaming on ,   for now   (02.27.09)
...with her and her 'dream' team... a few visits to the pubs again, arms in the air, and it could all change...
