31. 30 Ilan , as i'm against civil marriage
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.01.09)
for the reasons i told already , people's records can be hold by the state . And will civil marriage not cause problems to a child who wants to marry a religious ? Yes , problems can arise too .
32. Tradgety and suffering
Yehudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.01.09)
Civil marriage in Israel will in many case result in children who are not Jewish. In fact there would be many case where the children are mumzerim. This would be a great tradgety for our nation. It would produce great suffering.
33. The monopoly of Haredim makes me sick
Ze'ev ,   Haifa   (03.01.09)
How is that all your very "important" laws (mamzerim, divorces, etc.) are not applied to Jews coming from abroad? How do you know that someone who came from England and became religious in Israel is appropriate for your daughters? What can you know about his parents? Your laws can't work in an absolute manner anyway, so stop oppressing us.
34. Marcel #27: I know you hate the Jewish race.
Steve   (03.01.09)
This is about saving the Jewish race. I know in your view the Jewish race is "not cool." I know you want the to see the Jewish race destroyed Marcel. Why spew your hatred here?
35. Mohammad #19
Steve   (03.01.09)
I'm sure you are a good man. You are a deist. You are not a devout Muslim even though you live in Jordan and little doubt both your parents are Muslim? Only if you broadcast your views in Islamic society -- if you said these things publicly in Jordan, Gaza or Saudi Arabia -- chances are you and your Catholic wife might be tortured and or murdered.
36. Thank God for intermarriage
Moishe   (03.01.09)
We'd be wrought with diseases (Crohn's, hemophilia, etc) in an extreme way if it weren't for intermarriage. We've survived this long, so who thinks anything will be different???
37. #33 the rules are applied
Yitzchok ,   Israel   (03.04.09)
An oleh who marries here has to provide the rabbanut with proof of their Jewishness through appropriate ketubot, birth certificates, confirmations from recognized Rabbis etc. They don't just look at the "nation" on the ID card (if it's there) and go by what the Interior Ministry accepted as proving Jewishness.
38. Civil Marriage?
J. Silver ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.04.09)
Excuse me but this is a Jewish country that was given to us many many years ago on the condition that it would follow the Torah. I know that YOU may not believe it but We need to thank G-d everyday for the gift that we have. If there is someone that wants to intermarry....eat pork....only have a civil marriage....then please feel free to go to American or Europe where ANYTHING GOES! But Israel is not that in category....dont think that democracy means that you can just go by any rules that you want. THIS IS OUR JEWISH HOMELAND and we have a right to live by the Laws that we were given as a People. If more people would keep to the Laws...we would have alot less problems here. Like I said.....if you arent happy with the way things are done here....then I think you should consider moving....this is a Jewish country.....and has been for thousand of years. Read the Tanach and maybe if the kids were learning Tanach in the schools as they had years ago.....the Jewish sense of what is important would be more prevailant. Have a Shabbat Shalom and a Purim Sameach
