31. 23 Terry: Maybe MK Livni is tired of travelling.
Rivkah   (02.27.09)
32. I start to regret I didn't vote Kadima
Avner   (02.27.09)
Compropise is necessary to form a coalition but if there is no agreement on most basic directions such as 2-state solution then Kadima is better off in opposition from where it can achieve more for peace than selling itself to a National/facist camp.
33. Livni says won't join Netanyahu-led government
MJ Zielinski ,   Prague, Czech Republ   (02.27.09)
The whole world needs Tzipi, not just Israel. Bibi wouldn't join a unity government headed by Tzipi, so why should she join his.
34. On a two-state solution
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (02.27.09)
Perhaps I am wrong, but it seems to me that when Israelis talk about a "two-state solution," the implication is that the second state (for Palestinian Arabs) will be the territory known as Judea and Samaria (the "West Bank"). Why? First of all, dismantling the Jewish settlements in the West Bank will tear the very heart and soul out of Israel. There is no certainty that Israel could even survive such an act. Secondly, a two-state solution begs the question. It was initially proposed in 1947, and rejected. Six wars ensued, in Arab pursuit of the whole territory. The Arabs lost each time. They turned to terror, on a grand international scale. The second time they were offered a two-state solution, they walked away from it. Now, here it comes again. That elusive two-state solution. And Israel is expected to "fix" sixty years of chronic Arab mistakes, miscalculations, wars, terror, Arab-inspired international boycotts of Israel and other ongoing attempts to destabilize -- even destroy -- the State of Israel. The one common factor in every Palestinian organization that purports to represent the Palestinian people -- and there are MANY such organizations -- is that in each and every case, their charters call for destruction of the State of Israel and extermination of the Jewish people. With that as a core raison d'etre, why are we trying to fix their mistakes? Why do we persist in thinking that these are people who "negotiate" in good faith? They are not. They are a terrorist rabble. And -- given all the organizations that purport to be the true voice of the Palestinian people -- exactly which one is Israel supposed to "negotiate" with? Is there any presumption that, should a competing organization depose the organization "negotiating" with Israel, any agreements reached will be honored? An Israel without the buffer of the West Bank, and having to content with a fractious Arab population to its east and an even more fractious Arab population to its south, will be an Israel whose security will be under constant threat. I want Israel to be a Jewish state. I also want it to have the physical and geographical security it needs. I believe that the West Bank needs to be formally annexed; but since we will no longer be a Jewish state if all the Palestinian Arabs on the West Bank were to become de jure Israeli citizens, then we need to examine what should happen to the Arab resident of the West Bank. I think the solution is fairly simple: it is called Jordan, and it is a Palestinian country. It was carved out of Palestine and gifted by the British to King Abdullah back in 1927. The world will squawk -- even though the Palestinian Arabs living on the West Bank will be fairly compensated (which is more than what happened to the Jewish refugees forced from their homes in Arab lands). But they will have to leave. It is the only way Israel can preserve both its security interests and its identity as a Jewish state. One-third of the African continent is populated by refugees. It is not as if Palestinians consititute the only refugees in the world; in any event, if you are looking to place blame for the fact that, after sixty years, there still are Palestinian refugees, you need look no further than the 21 Arab states who have consistently refused to resettle their brother Arabs. And that is not the fault of Israel.

38. Livni is the friend of the right Bibi is its betrayal
zionist forever   (02.27.09)
Netanyahu knows that a coalition with Kadima would have to be at the expense of the religious and nationalist parties creating a liberal left government. Bibi would have been PM but because of all the powers he was offering to Livni and the fact that Liberman seems to be more left wing in its attitude to the peace process than than Likud and so she would be the default PM. Its only the fact that Livni decided not to join Netanyahu that we are going to get a right wing government. He hasn't even managed to put together a coalition yet and Netanyahu has been going out of his way to betray the right wing majority. Lets hope that next time Likud hold their primaries they will choose Felgin and next time round Felgin will be the PM
39. UNITY !!!.
Orao Stranka. ,   Tsarigead u Srbia.   (02.27.09)
"Unity is not just sitting in a government together. It also means sharing a way." YOU ARE ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF GOD GOING THE WRONG WAY. UNITY IS GREATER THAN PRINCIPLE BECAUSE PRINCIPLE IS INDIVIDUALISTIC BUT UNITY COLEKTIVISTIC COLEKTIVITY IS THE GRAETER THRUTH AND PRINCIPLE THE LESSER ONE. AND THE LESSER MUST SUBMIT TO THE GREATER ONE AND BE ITS SERVEANT, JUST AS ONE OF THE NAMES OF GOD, YEHOVAH Elohim/ I AM the Gods. YEHOVAH IS THE SELF OF ALL Gods/Angels/Principels. YEHOVAH IS THE GREATER THRUT AND THE TOTAL THRUTH, WHEREAS THE Gods/Elohims, IS THE LESSER THRUTHS, THE SERVEANTS OF THE GREATER ONE. Orao.

2 state solution then what does he want? In my humble opinion Israel should unilaterally withdraw from about 70% of the west bank, and give them the adjacent arab sections of Galilee, just grant the Pali's their independence period. Then tell them 1 rocket over the border 1 terror attack and Israel will move the border forward, expel the arab residents and send in setters, and then DO IT!!! No apologies no second chances. You lost deal with it. It'll just get worse for you if you keep on fighting!
42. Adieu Farewell Livni
ambrosine shitrit ,   london   (02.27.09)
thank goodness for that ...Now Bibi can make a Safer Israel under Likud
43. Which way forward?
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (02.27.09)
"Where is her self-respect?" Good question. Actually Livni, like a lot of people, is a prisoner of stale, discredited rhetoric from the past. Look, expelling Jews from Gaza showed for all time that destroying settlements does not create peace for Israel. Time for a new direction!!
44. OIY vey, c'moooooon....
Aaron ,   SF, USA   (02.27.09)
Livni, Lieberman, and a bunch of other small parties need to make up the coalition..... and then reform the Coalition system. Don't abolish the parliamentary way, just lower the mandate threshold to 60 that way stalemates won't last forever. In terms of the "two state, two people" nonsense..... have we not learned from Araft's corruption and Hama's uses of funds? Bibi is setting himself up to recognize that there are two states, but he will in now way fund Gaza like Olmert just did. The right wingers in Israel fear that the left sympathizes too much with Palestinians and the Left fear that the right will continue bombing the fuck out of them. Enough sympathy, what about empathy towards the Israeli people who just want a good working government already?
45. Tipi
Darla McDonell ,   Gladstone,MO USA   (02.27.09)
She is so secular world..disgraces God's law's and a miliion bugs in her brain to give Isreal's land away...that is a sin Tipi wiggy...Israel is in Israels land...
46. 40 Joe, Ohio: The Lord rebuke you. Benyamin Netanyahu
Rivkah   (02.27.09)
would not be alive today if he had not heeded the ELS Bible codes warning that if he went to Jordan in July of that particular year, he would be assassinated.
47. Princess Tzipi, get OFF IT!
Esther ,   Ofarim, Israel   (02.27.09)
Put the interest of the country ahead of your wounded ego and join a unity government, so we can have a bit of stability and the chance of a Knesset lasting more than 2 years. I didn't vote for you, even though I had a certain amount of respect for you. Ms. Livni, put the good of the country ahead of your wounded pride, please.
48. ska, usa - The Real Estate business
Neil Turner ,   Watford, UK   (02.27.09)
Dear ska Presuming we can agree that the only source of information about God is found in the Bible.... I suggest you read Genesis, with a red pen in hand. Underline all the promises that God makes to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob He promises the land as an "everlasting possession" to their descendants So, yes, God IS very much in the real estate business :)
49. #2 National Unity
LarryT ,   K.Sava   (02.27.09)
Forming a coalition with Kadimah and Israel Beiteinu is called National Unity You are right, we do not want or need Haredim.
50. allways with u livni

thats how we fight the terror clearly as palestine as lebanon if they lunch rockets we will strike so hard take what ever its take and after the strike the world will charge them not us maybe this what livni try to say with the two stat solution ,the fact netanyahu knows deeply inside that finally pals will have their stat ,take agood look to the worlds with all the problems facing israel we will added another one that no one will support us with the rightist veiw, all what netanyahu do is delay and delay and we lose and lose and increase the hated to us,yes livni stayaway of this gov let see how they will ran away from every meeting livni u have all the right to say no,that's what ur voters voted to even if u stay alone u r still represent us
51. She is as dumb as she looks.
Daniel ,   San Jose, CA   (02.27.09)
Bibi has a goverment in hand. That is a no brainer, but he is trying to give everyone a voice. They may not see eye to eye on everything but if they do not attempt to find common ground then Kadima is done for, period. Bibi has offered her more than enough, if she is dumb enough to want such separation and no voice she just got it. If I remember correctly things are passed via simple majority not 2/3 or anything else. She just killed Kadima's chance of any say in what will happen in the future. For that she has done Kadima an injustice and should step down. Leiberman will continue to waffle back and forth to try and dig up support for his agendas, but once Bibi puts him in his place he will fall in line. Leiberman needs Bibi's support to push his agenda, and even if Livni got Leiberman it still wouldn't help. The right is carrying more strength than ever following the F-D up wars they couldn't win. People are fed up with wishy washi government. If you go into a conflict have the gonads to finish what you start and make sure we don't get bombed a year later. Kadima failed.
52. A serious joke
abc   (02.28.09)
One of the Politics reporters told us that a message has been sent by a Video-shop, saying that Tzipi Livni forgot to return the last video film ... Meaning - she's still living in the film , dreaming sweet dreams ....
53. two Parties two States
steve ,   london, england   (02.28.09)
Palestinians will not come to a table to negotiate with Qadimah over final status agreements on a two state solution to this sixty years conflict. Because Qadimah have killed hundreds of their people in Gaza. If it will be a Qadinah government that signs the final frontier agreements it will not be led by anyone involved in the recent war. Israel are currently sufering from the same problem that is afflicting the governments of other nations. Namely, greed for personal power and money. By this I refer to the fact that government jobs are well paid jobs. But Israel is particularly unique in this intelectual sickness because IDEALISM in Israel's world is the most difficult idealism to formulate, share and realise. The search for a majority government now should focus on what Israelis want and need (quite apart from the Palestinian questions). Peace with Palestinians can only come from Palestinians. If they will make too much trouble for Israelis .... the IDF will execute their expediency. So let the Palestinians get the message that this is not their moment of apotheosis. They have to define their righteousness in non violence. They have to disarm. There is going to be more war in the region..... Saudi Arabia has to democratize ..... that will not be non violent. So Israel must look to the Right before it can live with its Leftist idealism.
54. Unwieldy Govt. set-up!
Jordan ,   Atlanta GA. USA   (03.01.09)
It seems to me (admittedly an outsider), that in the best interest of facilitating a more workable functioning Govt., you must change your rules of governance. I want nothing but the best for Israel and its' survival. This cumbersome coalition system makes attaining peace for Israel and it's neighbors more difficult. It seems a study should be undertaken to come up with a smoother form of governance, and implement it. Just my humble opinion. Shalom
