91. I don't understand what authority Spain has over this issue.
Dania   (02.28.09)
If we don't grant the Spanish jurisdiction over Israel, than what authority does the country have over our military officers exactly? It baffles me that any small judge in a random country can judge and affect our internal and defense policies. It makes no sense.
92. Stop squealing and indict King Juan Carlos for War Crimes!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.28.09)
Spain cooperated with the United States in 2003 albeit in a "non-offensive" role. This cooperation assisted the United States in causing the deaths of a great number of Iraqi Civilians. The Spanish had not yet been attacked by Al Qaeda as the Madrid Bombings occurred in March 2004. Thus Spain's participation in the carnage in Iraq was illegal and the King, the then Prime Minister and the General Staff of the Spanish Armed Forces should be indicted for Crimes Against Humanity as a result of Spanish unprovoked aggression against the Iraqi People! There is no point in condemning the judge who might be anti-Semitic or anti-Israel or pro Palestinian but he might also be acting in terms of Spanish Law to which he is bound. The fact is that anti-Semitism and hatred has taken root in Europe and Asia and the only way to fight this is to retaliate in the same way. It is time for the Jewish People to stand up and be counted and for our leading jurists, like Prof. Alan Dershowitz and members of The International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists to bring War Crimes charges against the Hamas Leadership, the Syrian and Iranian Governments and other countries supporting terrorism or condoning anti-Semitism and hatred against Jews. The charges should be filed in countries where their Jurists had indicted Israelis and their laws should be used in the same way. We have to learn to fight fire with fire and, if necessary, use privately initiated boycotts of countries who support those who pursue hatred against the Jewish People. A past example of this was the Jewish Boycott of Spain due to its butchery and expulsion of Jews during the Inquisition. Sitting and venting on YnetNews does relieve frustration but it won't do anything to stop the plague of anti-Semitism worldwide. Only legal and financial pressure has a chance of succeeding and Jewish leaders must call in their chips.
93. #37 Gideon: Keep Up The Good Work
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (02.28.09)
I am a fan of your writing ,for life. You are brilliant and hit the nail on the head every time as well as very funny.Your spanish language skills are impressive too
94. Oooh.Oooh. A Fan club
Gideon Reader   (02.28.09)
#93 Lawrence in Safad Mucho Canolis. You are NOT a stalker are you? As for impressive Spanish language skills; working the Miami river for ten years will do that for you. Somehow I do not expect to be invited to the Wine n' Tapas party at Andreau's "mens" club. I would look like crap in spiked collar, leash and black leather teddy.
95. 35.Josh: I support that
Ana ,   Spain   (02.28.09)
Then Israel could charge most of the people of the disgovernment. Yours is a great idea, which have my full support.
96. 33. USA
Ana ,   Spain   (02.28.09)
don't generalize, please. I am Spanish and am not a fascist.
97. 30. Sarah
Ana ,   Spain   (02.28.09)
You have it absolutely wrong. those you call "Basque Freedom Fighters" are terrorists, which have relations with ETA and Hizbollah.
98. 11.Cordier
Ana ,   Spain   (02.28.09)
You have no idea. you even think the king's name is Felipe. (LOL!)
99. Re: Boycotting Espanish Products
Gideon Reader   (02.28.09)
Oh Geeze! Do I have to? Really? Oh Crap. You see I have this really sore toe. And I have been looking for something for a very long time to finally fix the fungus problem. Well Senor; Espanish wine does the trick. Totally undrinkable, however I can completely and absolutely recommend it for any of those "personal" problems, such as jock itch or athelet's foot problems. Now,...as for their Queso,....?
100. My mistake on 97. 30. Sarah
Ana   (02.28.09)
Where it reads "which have relations with ETA and Hiz bollah" It should read "which have relations with Hamas and Hiz bollah" Sorry for the inconvenience.
101. #85 Ana
Marco ,   Spain   (02.28.09)
Yo Ana, we already have a stooge on Ynet that goes by the name Sarah, we dont need a second. I think your knowledge of world affairs is elementary at best. I suggest you stick to the Kitchen.
102. #100 Ana
Marco ,   Spain   (02.28.09)
Ana dont you have anything useful to do with your time. You've written countless tbs on just this one topic, now relax and get a life. I dont want people to think that Spanish women are empty headed with nothing to do but write stupid tbs on Ynet.
103. To Ana #88. Mr. F. Andreu SHOULD be Charged.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (02.28.09)
You say :” Judge Andreu should also be charged with cooperation with terrorism.” I think the Israeli Government should ask the Government of Spain to charge Mr. Fernando Andreu for aiding and abetting (and encouraging) terrorism against Israeli civilians. The points made by Cynthia#83 SHOULD be taken into consideration. Those are STRONG points.
104. 101. Marco
Ana ,   Bilbao, Spain   (02.28.09)
It sure I hit some bone. Me to the kitchen? Go to the kitchen yourself. And you should also educate yourself.
105. To David #92. Let The Battle Of Courts Begin.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (02.28.09)
You say :” It is time for the Jewish People to stand up and be counted and for our leading jurists, like Prof. Alan Dershowitz and members of The International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists to bring War Crimes charges against the Hamas Leadership, the Syrian and Iranian Governments and other countries supporting terrorism or condoning anti-Semitism and hatred against Jews.” Yes. That SHOULD be done. Let’s engage in the battle of courts -- forced upon Israel by the anti-Israel idiots and rascals.
106. #101 Marco aka Mark
Cynthia ,   USA   (02.28.09)
We had a stooge on YNET named Mark Wilson who sounded just like you. He morphed into Marco and like Mark Wilson, you don't have much to say except insult posters and make idiotic comments about Israel. I'd love to see you write a post to Ana in Spanish. Por favor.
107. To Marco #102. To Feel Intimidated.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (02.28.09)
You say :”.. are empty headed ..” Marco, it seems like you feel intimidated by Ana’s profuse TBs. To feel intimidated -- means you are in a lower position, means Ana has (in general) MORE braincells then you have.
108. International Courts of Justice
Unenforceable, sorry ,   Lutz, USA   (02.28.09)
These "International Courts" with no power of enforcement have been around since the early 90s. Belgium tried it in 1993, then backed off. Other countries have followed here and there. Even Israel took Arafat for a ride in absentia to one of these courts du jour and nothing came of it. Bush, Sharon, Cheney, and mostly petty dictators from Africa have been sued from time to time. Nothing here worth mentioning. The UN has declared these "courts" illegal anyway. Just a photo op for Spain to hide their total impotence.
109. #108 Good Point
Cynthia ,   USA   (02.28.09)
110. #80 David Stoler
Marco ,   Spain   (02.28.09)
If thats the case David, civilized states would arrest the man and put him on trial. Thats how things are done in the civilized world. You dont go around incinirating a whole neighborhood with women and children in order to kill one man. Have you heard of innocent untill proven guilty in a court of law? Who are you to already decide that he is guilty. Are you God?
111. #107 Maansingh
Marco ,   Spain   (02.28.09)
Hey Maansingh, are you trying to kiss a$$ here? Ana can speak for herself, so butt out idiot.
112. ooooh marco
Ilana   (02.28.09)
getting feisty? Using bad words? In a corner?Talk about getting a life! What are you doing so often on an Israeli news talkback group? Weird. Go get an eductaion buddy and then you may get a life. How very funny that you accuse ana of everything you do!! And what is this yo business? That's new. And adds to your image of....
113. #91: Answer is zero
Anebt ,   Lutz, FL, USA   (03.01.09)
Spain has decided for themselves that they will consider trying these people. That's okay, nothing wrong with that. It's their country and can do it as a gesture. Israel grabbed Eichmann without permission from the Argentine government and tried him for crimes against humanity. However, all that Spain can do is to grab these men or ask Israel to cooperate. There is no enforcement because Spain's court has no authority to do anything to Israeli people not living in Spain. They can grab and kidnap them, but that would bring obvious problems. This is really a waste of time for the media to discuss unless they are lefties who have a beef against Israel's right to protect herself.
114. SPANNISH "BULL" FIGHTS......THEY ALWAYS GET THEIR BULL.
AVRUM ,   CANADA   (03.01.09)
IN THE SPANNISH BULL RING, A GUY IN TIGHTS PRANCES AROUND AND STICKS KNIVES INTO THE BULL AND GETS WILDLY APPLAUDED BY THE CROWD. WHAT A CRUELTY, A CRIME AGAINST ANIMAL RIGHTS.......KNIFING, BULLS FOR SPORT. THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR THE CRIMES AGAINST THE BULLS...... THIS WOULD BE A CRIMINAL BEHAVIOUR TO INVESTIGATE AND BRING THE ANIMAL KILLERS TO JUSTICE..... WAKE UP ANIMAL RIGHTS GROUPS !!
115. #69 SPANNISH EXHIBIT COWARDICE.......
AVRUM ,   CANADA   (03.01.09)
THE SPANIARDS ARE ALWAYS RUNNING AWAY FROM THE BULLS, WHO ARE AFTER THEM. THE BULLS MUST HAVE SOME ANIMAL INNER INSTINCT OR KNOWLEDGE REGARDING THE SPANNISH, SOMETHING, THAT WE ARE ONLY REALIZING NOW.. THE SPANNISH ARE CONFUSED.... THEY RUN AWAY FROM THE BULLS WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, CREATING A LOT OF "BULL" THEMSELVES.
116. To Lutz Florida, USA and others
Gábor Fränkl ,   Budapest, Hungary   (03.01.09)
Lutz, while theoretically you would be right, the big problem is not Spain - no one wanna go there - but the intl. arrest warrant which the Spanish can issue against them. Understand? If they were to set foor in any coountry in the world, even the United Sates of Aemrica, the authorities couldn't do anything else other than arrest them and, possibly, jail them. That's the problem... And that's why Netanyahu himself MUST make a move politically against Spain the very second he comes into office as PM, by possibly pressuring these anti-Semites or blackmailing them, which is absolutely necessary for Israel's interest. Don't forget: Spain is by far the most anti-Semitic nation in ALL of Europe, at least at present. Even their roots are evils in history, but that's a separate issue. Gábor Fränkl (30) freelance foreign policy journo P.S.: Please do not censor my comment this time! I just want to have a healthy dialogue. Please!
117. #112 Ilana
Marco ,   Spain   (03.01.09)
I have a masters degree in engineering from a prestigious American university Ilana, may be you should be the one to get an education. Any way thanx for reading my posts. Hope you learn something by reading them.
118. 111.Marco
Ana   (03.01.09)
I can speak for myself . And Maansingh is free to say what s/he pleases.
119. what?
Ilana   (03.01.09)
would never have guessed that you always sound so uhm well never mind. ... About degrees, it doesn't show a wordly education. And btw I also have a masters like half the world=so what! Go get a real education some history...get a life and stop bugging us on our news what are you so involved in Israel for.
120. marco
Samantha   (03.01.09)
a degree in engineeringdoes not make you an educated well rounded and informed human. You prove the important point that having a college education doesn't necessarily make a person less dumb or a good critical thinker who takes all the facts involved and comes to a truly educated opinion.
