31. Like it or not for Jews+Pals the future is the status quo
Sam ,   Canada   (03.01.09)
There is no foreseeable 2 state solution and certainly not a b-national state. The degree of Palestinian violence will make their future better or worse. That will be the only change from the status quo.
32. I think the Israelies would do the same.
Thought ,   CA, USA   (03.01.09)
If there land was taken away from them. OOH, wait. It was, so I guess now that the shoe is on another foot they can be choose to be asses. I don't agree with one people or the other. They both make me sick, how they involve the rest of the world in what is nothing more then a grab for land. Both people have lied and cheated for the assistance from the world. I don't think god wanted this or he would have stuck down Israels enemies, as the bible says he did for them. Hatred and war, death and destruction is all that this brings. I doubt the good lord wanted this.

36. No peace anytime soon
Steve   (03.01.09)
I want peace with the Arabs, but I am also a realist. It is impossible for Israel and the Palestinians to have a lasting, true peace until the following conditions are met: 1. A complete cessation of terrorist attacks (including rocket fire), followed by a 5 year period of no terrorism whatsoever. 2. The disbandment of Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Fatah's armed wing, PFLP, PFLP-GC, and any other Palestinian terrorist organizations. 3. The immediate release of Gilad Shalit, and information on the fate, and release of all Israeli POWs, including but not limited to Ron Arad, Zeev Rotshik, Zachary Baumel, Tzvi Feldman, Yehuda Katz, Guy Hever, and Majdi Halabi. 4. Arab League and Palestinians must immediately recognize Israel's right to exist, and its right to defend itself. 5. Palestinians to accept that they cannot push the Jews into the sea, they cannot have Jerusalem, and cannot take over Israel. 6. Palestinian State to be demilitarized, and a NATO force deployment to ensure this. Until these conditions (and I have probably missed something) are met there cannot be peace.
37. Mr. Abbas
Walter ,   Portland, USA   (03.01.09)
He keeps going throught the motions again and again, but the result is always the same. Mr. Abbas, you should realize that Hamas cannot agree to any permanent deal involving Israel. If its leadership actually attempted such a thing, Syria and Iran would have them eliminated. Hamas is not really an indigenous political party, but a proxy for Iran. Of course, Mr. Abbas, you know all of this.

What did Hamas cost their people? Thousands dead and wounded - Thousands left homeless and jobless - many thousands fed on charity - is that what a country wants - facts twisted - Hamas didn't win - Hamas paid for their PR offensive against Israel with Palestinean lives - and they happily did so - because the lives of the ordinary people are expendable - just to make a point. Pretty nasty, wouldn't you say?
41. 29 Like 'jews' who left having seen the writing on the wall
lydia ,   Brisbane, Australia   (03.02.09)
They supervise, from the relative safety of life overseas i.e in the US etc. while expecting those at home to stand up to Fatah/Hamas and face the other angry Muslims. Muslims who are fed up with 60 years of racial subjugation and land theft.
42. #39 I asked first .....why ?
rachel ,   usa   (03.02.09)
43. #41 go to your meeting ...they need your input on how to put

the aborigines in concentration camps ....

Barney ,   USA   (03.02.09)
lydia my dear, on whose aboriginal land are you living?
45. 44, Barney mate, The Aboriginals are letting bygones
lydia ,   Brisbane, Australia   (03.02.09)
be bygones, They haven't taken Australia to the UN and gotten numerous rulings against the government. Our PM has apologized for past injustices and they use our Court system to address their grievances. We have no targeted assassination nor mass incarceration, nor murder by missiles, nor is there open slather on the willful killing of women and children. They aren't lobbing katusha or grads since they aren't segregated in ghettos.
46. to lydia
Barney ,   USA   (03.02.09)
Bingo! If the Palestinians had let bygones be bygones they would have had a viable state years ago. Instead they want to obliterate Israel or terrorize the citizens until they think they will somehow magically disappear. The saying is the Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. They have made their own bed. Israelis would rather live peaceful, productive lives alongside Palestinians doing the same thing. Israel has no desire to invest massive resources in a policy of containment of terror. Over the years Israel has just accepted that the conflict can't be resolved and must be managed. Not a pretty policy but with whom should they negotiate a resolution? Hamas sworn to their destruction and training their toddlers to be terrorists? Of the Fatah who had 95% of what they asked for and walked away to start an intifada? It is sad for both sides. An overwhelming majority of Jews and Israelis that I know want peace and a state for the Palestinians. There are probably many Palestinians that want the same but are ruled by either corrupt or fanatical fundamentalist leaders. They starve while Arafat salted away billions. They starve while Hamas uses them as shields and media grabbers.

pedro de bourbon ,   London, England   (03.02.09)
Could you please explain: They supervie ...etc ...etc ...what? The firing of rockets? Even a couple of days ago? The Isralies can take care of themselves. As we have have seen. The Muslims will always be angry - because no two groups will come together - 60 years of subjugation and land theft - come on - Arabs sold land they thought was useless but which settllers made producative - do me a favour - check out your facts!
48. #16 Don Pedro de Borbon
Marucho ,   Bs.Aires-Argentina   (03.02.09)
Thank you for recognizing whose responsibility was for all what happened in Gaza during the Cast Lead operation. As to the people of Gaza, does anybody really know how many non-fighting civilians died during the 22 day campaign, such as to be called a human catastrophe by western newspapers to what happened there? I do not believe in such ambiguous statements, taking in account similar declarations made about Jenin in 2002, Muhammad Al-Durah in 2000, and The Church of Nativity in 2003.
49. 46 You still have your jackboots on the necks mate!
(03.03.09)
50. where are them extremeist righists when you need them?
jerusalem   (03.04.09)
and where are the elections that were supposed to take place in january?
51. Just a note
perdo de Bourbon   (03.04.09)
Obiviously comments from a person of limited intelligence! And that is the problem with the Middle East - distrust between the parties. No one won in the latest encounter - Gaza paid a high price due to the policy of their leaders, who lived well duringt the Isralie attaxck on Hamas. Rockets are still being fired.
