61. That's the way life is, Palestinian, Beirut!
Maria ,   MD   (03.05.09)
A lot of times we don't believe in rumors. The Jews during the Holocaust didn't even believe that Hitler would all the Jews. You know what, the world always blame Israel in everything. The Jews were blamed during the Great Depression and Black Death in Great Britain because the Jews were not affected.Just tell your people to go on with their lives, forget the family feud.Go on to succeed in life.
62. #32 Native Americans don't own the New World
Maria ,   MD   (03.05.09)
They might be the first inhabitants, but that doesn't mean they own America.Besides, European are more organized than Indians,it may be a Divine intervention that Europeans came to America.I'm glad they did come, so that we woould not end up worshiping moon, trees, rivers, etc.
63. Ariel Eldad's "letter"
Bob O'Connell ,   Rockford, USA   (03.05.09)
Well stated: your use of the idea of "madness" as repeating the same action time and again with a hope of a different result closes the debate for me.
64. #53 Sagi, Quote Your Own Geniuses...
Brana Lobel ,   Israel   (03.05.09)
Oh, that's right, you don't have any. Not only is your political analysis lacking, but you attribute to the Israelis what is really the purview of the Arabs: arrogance and obsession. What people in their right minds would want a sworn enemy which is also totally untrustworthy on its borders? That's why polls consistently show most Israelis wanting the Arabs out of Israel. Preferably you all should be somewhere far away. Your answer needs to be found among your own people because unlike the Druze you cannot keep to a straight line. BTW the Syrians and Iranians as under their present rulers are not dealable with no matter what is offered to them, so best to offer nothing. There is no dialogue with lying savage snakes; there is only keeping them at arms' length and then killing them if they become an immediate threat. That is realpolitik. the Israelis have been too patient with your kind.
65. #64 Brana Lobel: A Feeble Response!
Sabi Zakila ,   Jerusalem   (03.06.09)
First of, I am an American Christian. I am not an Arab. Second, when you so openly threaten to "kill them all" and talk about one's kind in a general term, then you are most definitely racist. You cannot accept the other. There are 5 million Arabs that are not going anywhere in this strip of land, it's time for you to start thinking outside the box. In the US, the general attitude towards you is shifting. Many are coming to see you as a liability rather than an asset, and they are getting sick and tired of cleaning up after you. The hatred you carry with you and that motivates your words of anger and racism will have to go. You are negotiating with a Palestinian moderate president in Mahmoud Abbas, at least make it work. You're logic is the one that's lacking, not mine, and the future will tell. I am seriously concerned about the fate of your country so long as you continue in this path that is strengthening all extremists. Don't put Abbas in the same line with Ahmadinejad, not every Arab, Muslim, or Palestinian is out to get you. Let go of this conspiracy theory, there are some practical and pragmatic people in Palestine and the Arab world, I work with some of them, so I advise you not to turn your back on them, otherwise it will be suicide. Consider the Arab Peace Initiative seriously, it will not last forever.
66. #57 Are you serious?
Sabi Zakila ,   Jerusalem   (03.06.09)
Do you honestly want to convince me that Gaza is independent, free and viable? www.closedzone.com
67. For Capt Ahab-
CG ,   USA   (03.06.09)
Either you are uneducable, or you are a propagandist.Either way, your ignorance and/or mischaracterization of history can only be dismissed in this audience.Land was never stolen-it was given, bought, or WON in a defensive war. Under International Law it ALL belongs to Israel.PERIOD.Either go check it , or cease parading your stupidity in public.
68. Mr. Eldad is deeply confused
Michael Peterson ,   Sammamish, U.S.   (03.06.09)
Mr. Eldad confuses democracy with liberty. To this point, note that Venezuela is a democracy but its people are not free. Saddam Hussein ruled a "democratic" Iraq, but her people were not free. Fortunately, because of the U.S., not only is Iraq a democracy, but her people are free and a significant threat to Israel's peace and security has been eliminated. Americans value liberty, Mr. Eldad. Unlike Israel, Americans value liberty so much they are willing to spend blood and treasure for the liberty of others. This is not the case for Israel. Israel does not go to war to protect or even foster the liberty of others (think Christians in Lebanon, Muslims in Bosnia, Arabs in Kuwait). Still, Mr. Eldad accuses the U.S. being motivated by self-interest. Well, Mr. Eldad confuses self-interest with selfishness. Both Hillel and Jesus taught that self-interest is best served by being of service to others. Selfishness, not a characteristic of U.S. foreign policy, is precisely the opposite and history witnesses the truth of U.S. sacrifice. Self-interest, Mr. Eldad, demands that we not ignore the plight of the oppressed. Otherwise, as Martin Niemoeller so eloquently explained the cause of the Holocaust, "...Then they came for me and by that time no one was left..." Mr. Eldad, does self-interest (correctly understood) or selfishness explain why Israel allows others to do her dirty work? Shalom, Michael
69. #67 - outdated information
P ,   Philadelphia   (03.07.09)
This was what was originally said as propoganda by political figures in the Israeli government, against the strong objections of the military. There were pamphlets claiming what you still believe that circulated as late as 30 years ago, but this is widely understood as "useful lies" by both the people who were there and modern scholarship. There were a number of violent groups (the Lehi being probably the most prominent example) who intimidated and in some cases slaughtered arabs in order to "make way" for jewish settlement of the region, and the utter destruction of some villages at their hands is not a secret. Israel is not alone in being built on lands acquired through these means - the United States has a similar history. It is better to admit one's history and discuss it carefully than to deny it.
70. 2 Give Indians State
Just Me ,   USA   (03.07.09)
To #32...Ya know what, I wish the American Indians COULD take back their country...they'd do a better job of running it (and I'm a non-Indian American saying this)!
71. If Israel doesn't want a two-state solution...
Isaac ,   United States   (03.07.09)
...then what is the solution? One state? That's even less likely than two states. Do they want to maintain the status quo? Permanent occupation of the West Bank and Gaza? That can't last forever. Or maybe Israel wants to ethnically cleanse the occupied territories of Arabs. What does Israel want?
72. Very very corect, Prof. Eldad!! Great!!
Paz Mualem ,   Hollon, Israel   (03.07.09)
73. you are right
ali ,   Jerusalem   (03.08.09)
Most definitely … you are thieves and war criminals and will NOT have you as neighbors , It is a perpetual war . And finally … i am still ****waiting for the gentleman solution to grant his wishes ... If you don't ***** want a 2 states solution ...What the *****do you**** want .
74. the Madness of Arieh Eldad
Ruth ,   UK   (03.09.09)
One truth you mention Mr Eldad, is Einstein's definition of madness. Yet you do not consider why Jews continue to produce the same result over and over. Have you ever wondered what's missing? Sadly, the US will not be able to protect Israel from herself. Stop asking for another reason to be annihilated and start looking for peace.
75. Palestine
Rob ,   dallas   (03.09.09)
...and they deserve to get it back!
76. for cg
robert   (03.09.09)
No..Ahab is right, it was stolen.
77. respect our wishes, comment
D. Colon ,   Wildomar, U.S.A.   (03.09.09)
I would like to very strongly agree with Arieh Eldad. As a Christian, I believe it would be a great sin to try and force (thru diplomacy) isreal to give up any land that our god has granted to his chosen people. In my opinion my gov. should only offer any assistance that would aid isreali security not bend it over.
