31. #12 - Reuven - Remove Rabbi from campus
Avi ,   Moving to Rannana   (03.07.09)
it seems the one that should be removed is this so called Rabbi , from spreading his hatred towards his fellow jews and human beings. Yes there are gay people in this world and to judge and slander and incite hatred towards them based on a so called religious belief is discracefull and an outrage. Just gos to prove how irrelevant religion is and has no place in a democratic society. You Reuven are a discrace to your so called religion of hatred and intollerence. its 2009 dear not 1009.
32. Rabbis Need a Reality Check
Sam   (03.08.09)
Would a rabbi tell a jew who does not keep shabbat that he cannot keep kosher or eat kosher food? Would a rabbi who tell a jew who engages in one sin not to recite the shema in the morning prayers? of course not because it would deny the jew a mitzvah and would not be productive. The rabbi who issued this edict to remove the mezuzot need a reality check. This protest will just drive more jews away. Someone should fire this rabbi for poor judgment and picking the wrong fight
33. #18 "CRUSHING" those you disagree with is hardly Democratic
Sarit ,   Israel   (03.08.09)
One hardly needs to agree with Reuven Brauner's stance. But if we are to remain a free and Democratic society, we must respect freedom of speech the same way we would respect the freedoms of all in this country. One cannot go without the other. You cannot expect only Gay rights to be respected while you wish to "crush" the rights of other segments in our society. It has got to work both ways, Andy.
34. Reuven B. is wrong- Mezuzah Mitzvah Applies to Everyone!
JS ,   Israel   (03.08.09)
Reuven's comment is wrong-- Every Jew is commanded to post a mezuzah on his doorpost and gates. Whether you eat bacon, drive on Shabbat, or are gay, this mitzvah applies to you. It's pretty silly of a Rabbi to state otherwise.
35. Wow. Another Torah vs. Anti-Torah talkback...
Ezra ,   sandiego   (03.08.09)
These debates seem to attract the most defensive homos. Bottom line: If you're a Jew, and the Torah means nothing. What are you again? You happen to live in Israel, and there's something about the word abomination that describes your actions. Who are you worshiping again? Someone's confused.
36. Selectivity which mitzwot one will keep is the CORE doctrine
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (03.08.09)
of Christianity. Halakhah, which defines the b'rit of Torah, which--ultimately--defines who is and who is not a Jew, prohibits selectivity of partial rejection of Torah. To represent one should have a mezuzah yet advocate the permissibility of sodomy is avodah zarah no less than atheism or Jews for Jzeus.
37. This intolerance.
Amber ,   Rechovot, Israel   (03.08.09)
Why are the religious so intolerant of minorities? Many a times, the supposed abnormal ones display a truer faith than those who stand and judge.
38. #26 A better way that is not forbidden
Josh   (03.08.09)
The Rabbis have not done what is written in Torah. It states the laws that Moses delivered (in an afternoon) should be written on the door posts and gates. Writing them on a piece of paper in a box is NOT writing them on the doorpost. Therefore everyone who thinks they are fulfilling the mitzvah, are not. Moses came from Egypt where entire huge texts were written on walls, gates and doorposts for PEOPLE to READ and study. The Rabbis missed the whole point of writing them on the doorpost worse the Rabbis incorporated incantations they learned from the Magi of Babylon. The same Magi that are noted visiting and assisting Herod. If we do not speak of these words of Torah on our way and we hide them in boxes where no one will ever read them then is not what we are doing nothing more than empty ceremony? Something God hates. Will we end up with communities who do not know a word of Torah? Now more than ever people don't know what Torah says. They read a passage once a year. Hardly meeting what is required. We can now write the words of Torah very easily on walls and gates. Certainly we can write the words in a much better fashion and to serve a purpose. I suggest as a community each person on a street write as much as they can and their neighbor writes the next passage and so on. Then as children and adults walk from one end of the street to the other they can read and speak of Torah on their way. In this way the community fulfills the commandment which was given in the plural. At the time they lived in tents but Moses knew they would settle in buildings. Most of us live in apartments. Plenty of room at the entrances and in the hallways for writing out Torah words. The problem is the Rabbis will say we cannot do this. They have removed this law with another law about whether or not we can write God's name. They claim this is for fear of violation of misuse of God's name. It is far from it-it is commanded to be done. This of course is more Torah BPeh illegal dealings of the Rabbis. I say go ahead and write them as commanded. Remember that Torah is the contract part of what you read. Write the laws. Magic incantations passed off as legitimate prayer is illegal and only jeopardizes our well being in the long run. You never pray on an object, through an object or on a deed, rather to talk, thank, rejoice, appeal, etc. to God. God is coherent and hears what is missing. Love. Endless repetition out of duty rather than love is only provoking God. This could be one reason for Torah stating something to the effect -You shall give God an original prayer.
39. and behind every rock ....... !
charly   (03.08.09)
Yuval, why should rabbis be ashamed of their remarks. These remarks are their " raison d'etre "--- Shame was never, is never and never will be part of their vocabulary. Just like the taliban, hamas, al-qaeda, they anointed themselves the righteous of the righteous, in order to mimic mullahs, imams, and other non descript rejects of the SANE human race. No mezuzots?. I never had one (no paganism for me),and have no desire to replenish the rabbis coffers by purchasing a piece of paper. Ynet and the herald tribune are sufficient. Only zanis supporters knew best the real meaning " better a male with a dog " As far as abnormality is concerned, a rabbi is no different than a blind, a lame, a feeble minded person ---- all part of the " creation " In response to # 37, Amber from Rehovot ; why are the religious so intolerant?, it's because RELIGION IS THE OPIUM OF MANKIND.
40. 28-29 Defemation
Josh   (03.08.09)
Nice technique - loser
41. Lesbians can't commit sodomy, gay men don't have to.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.08.09)
42. Charles - Playing games?
Josh   (03.08.09)
You want to incite me by calling me something I hate. I can only wonder what type of man knowing that I knock Christian claims Jesus is a messiah would come out and lie before everyone like that. Are you desparate for a thrill? No Do you want to keep people from thinking about what I say? But why? We know why. You want Jews to think of Jesus as a rabbi? If Rabbis are discounted as simply men according to Devarim 13 rules, and unable to speak for God, you have no legs to stand on if your using a Jews for Jesus approach. I suspect you are Paqid. I know after trying for a year to get you to state you renounce Jesus as your savior, you would not. You even stated you went to Churchs and listened to the Pope speaches, didn't you? LOL
43. #36 Nice try mistyping
Josh   (03.08.09)
You don't fool everybody. Something wrong with you typing Jews for Jesus so you split the difference and wrote Jews for J Zeus? Is that because if you deny Jesus you think hell awaits you? If I recall correctly Charles uses tricks like that to avoid stating he doesn't believe in Jesus as he claims he is part of modern Jewish religion. Torah defines Israel, not Jews. Judah is only one tribe. Halakhah is an addition to Torah and thus is a breaking of the law laid out in Devarim 13. It can in no way be considered precedent on cases but rather additions. Judges cannot add to the law. When men who are not prophets and cannot give a sign or wonder tell Israel to do something that they claim God told them to do and that thing is not in what Moses told us to do, we are not to fear nor heed that man. Telling a Jew to thank God for commanding them to light candles when God never did is an addition example. I would think that would provoke God since he not only warned us not to listen to men under certain conditions, he also probably doesn't like us repeatedly putting such disobedience in his face. God might ask, when did I ever states such foolishness? Moreover we are warned about putting some type of alien fire in the house on Shabbat. Alien fire in Torah context is likely refering to rituals of other gods or other nations. You know Charles and Paqid that if you follow the doctrine of Jesus/Rebbi Yehoshua you are considered a Christian?
44. No. 35 Ezra
NYC Girl   (03.08.09)
It just so happens that "those Jews to whom Torah means nothing" are the ones who are willing to sacrifice their lives to defend the State of Israel... while you're sitting in the comfort and safety of your home in San Diego.
45. good
Ilana   (03.08.09)
They deserve dorms as well. And religious folk should first check their own community before they call others beasts! Like they are sopure and all!!
46. Judaically-challenged 43
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (03.08.09)
Shemot 23.13; Devarim 12.3 and Yehoshua 23.7 if you even know how to find them.
47. MY MY......
I am gay too ,   Jerusalem   (03.08.09)
such an important issue. One would think that there is nothing more pressing in our world today than worrying about whether to have a mezzuzah on the door of some lesbos and queens. Get over it you all. I have been gay my whole life and I dont give a damn. I want to know how am I and my fellow countrymen going to get thorough the next month!
48. #46 Nice try again - fail
Josh   (03.08.09)
Zeus is not a strange god? Looks like you are the one who is Judaically challenged in addition to lacking common sense. Torah warns those who mislead. Obviously you being a representitive of the Jewish man called Jesus at his birth that you call Rebbi Yehoshua, makes you classified in this category. You and your Charles character make me feel ill.
49. Josh and p*qid , two non Jews
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.08.09)
disputing themselve about who is Jewish . NO ONE OF you IS . One adoring this ribi yeshua , the second always attacking Rabbanim and Halachah . Both 100 % christians . Yes Josh , you are ILL , very ill in your goyishe head .

cathrina israel   (03.09.09)
52. Send them to Yehuda V'Shomron for correctional therapy!
Yemenite Israeli Guy ,   South Side TA, ISR   (03.11.09)
There are centres littered around Judea that will make those gays straight. Lets' straighten them out and make them feel sexy with women again. Rabbis are integral to such process. In the meantime, may the Gay Clubs in TA burn down and may the Sephardim of the South rise up against such s**t. Many Gay Clubs are burnt down all the time. The TA parades will come to an end as more and more TA residents make the sad yeridah.
53. 52 , maybe you yored to iran ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.11.09)
54. Removal of mezuzot
Eli ,   Israel   (03.11.09)
What on earth does the Technion need a rabbi for? Remove him and not the mezuzot, which don't harm anyone.
55. The so-called religious...
LarryT ,   K. Sava   (03.12.09)
who complain are not really religious. They are a cult based on Judaism. This would not bother a true Jew. They could simply turn away. This hatred is what has brought about the destruction of all our temples and the Jewish State
56. Rabis and gays
Michelle Wayne ,   Sydney Australia   (03.13.09)
When are the Rabis are going to mind their own bissnes? Why they interfire where is no concern of theys? Stick to religion and live politics to others it has nothing to do with religion. As far as I'm concern you are no diffrent that are the antysemitic catolic priests. Stop brainwashing peaple with this rubish this is 2009 not dark ages.
57. #38 Josh
David ,   USA, exile   (03.13.09)
Very good answer Josh. Bless you brother.
58. #35 Ezra
David ,   USA, exile   (03.13.09)
If we obey Torah they will be cut off from the people, outside the camp or stoned to death. What use is Mezuzah to them? The command is for Yisra'el. That is an obedient people. If one is an abomination he is NOT Yisra'el.
59. #56 Michelle
David ,   USA, exile   (03.13.09)
Please tell us where is the command that in 2009 we can throw away Torah because we now think we are too modern to follow it. You are treading on dangerous ground girl. T'shuvah.
60. Josh
David ,   USA, exile   (03.13.09)
OOPS! Sorry Josh. I called you brother. I didn't realize you were so violently opposed to my Adonai Yeshua. He will forgive you if you t'shuvah.
