If it were not for secular Jewish Americans, Israel would never brought back the Ethiopian Jews to Israel. I saw this on CBS 60 minutes show which was done by a Jewish reporter called Mike Wallace while I was visiting the US. I really have no problem with secular Jews. The VAST majority (other than perhaps 2) Israelis vehemently condemn the conduct of the racist mayor!
