Russia calls for a nuke free middle east. Well then, Russia might want to stop helping Iran make nukes. Russia might want to stop arming Israel's enemies. Russia might want to shut up and stay out of it. Russia might want to stay THE HELL out of it.

Russia is so full of garbage when they have contributed more to world instability than most countries. Ridding the ME of nukes is like asking law abiding Americans to forget the US Constitution's 2nd Amendment and give up your guns.....so all the bad guys will have guns and the law abiding ones don't. On the other hand, if Iran, who make a career out of threatening to wipe Israel off the map, acquire nuclear weapons, do you think that, as an Israeli, I might have a legitimate reason to suspect that they might use these weapons as soon as they get them? Do the police in Spain have weapons? Would you suggest that they melt them down into farming tools? Wouldn't that be nice. Except, of course, that once they did, Spanish criminals would take over the country. As an Israeli, I have no problem with the assumption that my country has nuclear weapons. As long as your friends in Iran do not give my government a reason to use them, I know that my children are more likely to wake up in the morning.

Isn't it amazing everybodies answer to Iran which i sure is going to be Obama's solution will be a nuclear weapons free Middle East. Conveniant as there is only one nuclear power in the region namely Israel. Nobody ever says the solution is to use sanctions or military actions to stop Iran getting nukes. The favorite solution always seems to be a nuclear free Middle East. Convenient since there is only 1 nuclear power in the region Nice cosy agreement .. Russia continues to sell Iran the hardware it needs to develop those weapons keep the money rolling in whilst at the same time Israels defenses are weakened. Russia of course will continue to develop its own next generation of nukes. The man is annoying but Liberman as foreign minister may be able to deal with the Russian attitudes. Couple of vodkas. The Israelis want to keep their nukes but don't want anyone else to have them. As justification, they point to the fact that they have had nukes and haven't used them yet. However, since 1945, no country has used these weapons so that argument is merely facetious. However, the only countries that have threatened their use in modern times are the North Koreans and the Israelis. Perhaps it is time to to bring all countries in the area under the NPT with monitoring by the IAEA. The Iranian position is correct; if Israel has the weapons, other countries have the right to them, especially if they are threatened with military attack. Or do you feel that you have a special dispensation?.

Seth, its not true that Iranian leadership has been calling for Israel's destruction for the past 30 years. If we put propaganda aside for just a minute you will understand what I am trying to say. Ahmadenajad said on several ocassions that very soon Israel will sieze to exist. When pressed on the issue, he explained that the two state solution is not viable and that in one state where both Arabs and Jews live side by side with equal rights, the Palestinian population will outgrow the Jewish population and therefore by the power of numbers, Israel as we know today will sieze to exist. He did not call for the physical destruction of Israel. Linguists were called in to study Ahmadenajad's speeches, and guess what? His speeches were found to match his explanation. You cant just take a sentence out of a whole paragraph and make judgment on that. You talk about peace? What peace? You have decemated the West bank so bad that peace is no longer possible. Your settlements crisscross the West Bank and make it impossible to create a Palestinian state in the West Bank which brings us to the only possible solution of 2 people 1 state as Ahmadenajad is predicting. Even today, the European Union is accusing Israel of trying to annex East Jerusalem by building Jewish homes and destroying Palestinian ones. If Israel has nuclear weapons as a deterrent so should Iran. Iran have not attacked any nation for the past 200 years. The west pushed Saddam to attack Iran in the 80s and provided him with weapons of mass destruction wich he actually used against the Iranians. Iran has the right to have nuclear weapons as a deterrent. Tell you what though Seth, how about a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction? It will be fair to all. You children Seth are precious and so are the Iranian and Palestinian children. They all deserve peace. A just peace and nothing less than that.

The Russian FM has made it very clear that as long as Israel keeps its nukes so will the others. The die is cast and Russia's linking Israel's nukes to Iran's is an obvious policy matter not just a passing remark.

Russia is calling for a nuclear free ME, while at the same time, helping Iran to develop nuclear weapons. If Israel gets rid of the nukes, next thing we know, Iran will have acquired a nuclear weapon and sent it on its way to Tel Aviv. Israel's nuclear weapons are our most powerful deterrent. Even Iran knows that if they hit Tel Aviv, we can hit Teheran. I say screw the Russians, we're keeping our nukes.

I'll try to put into terms that even your feeble mind can understand. Iran signed the NPT, we didn't. Very simple. If you think that is it okay to demand that we disarm if we have them then we have to same demand for the entire world. You disarm first.

Israel has not used its nukes against any of its enemies. It would have been nice to nuke Syria, which is a very destabilizing influence, and Iran or at least a couple of Iran's "holy" cities should be taken out before they build nukes and start basing them in Lebanon and Gaza. But Israel has some constraint. Meanwhile Russia is busy helping Iran develop its nuclear technology. Do they think that anyone is going to take them seriously? Well, the Arabs are dumb enough to swallow this line of propaganda even thinking people in the West are not.

The US was the first country to develop nuclear weapons but if they had the muscle to stop them don't you think the US would have stopped the Soviets getting nukes of their own or would they say well if we can have nukes isn't it only fair we don't stop them getting nukes to compete with us? Israel in this case was the US only in this case it has the muscle to try stop its enemies getting those nukes. Instead of saying if we can have them its only fair you get them as well it says we are going to do everything in our power to stop you getting them even if its not in our interests for you to also have nukes. Its children who say well he has a toy so I should be allowed a toy as well. We cannot treat nuclear proliferation like children wanting toys. This is Russia saying well everybody is condeming us for doing business which may result in Iran getting nukes so lets shift the blame over to Israel and make them give up their nukes so we Russians can say would we be selling Iran the hardware to make nukes if we don't want anybody in the region to have them ?
