1. Did they protest when Arab worker attacks Jews with tractor
(03.09.09)
2. finally a good voice from arab sector, however, people who
cathrina israel   (03.09.09)
come here from africa are searching for work, if israel is to turn them down, it shall provide bad publicity. it is hard to believe that for its small dimentions, israel gets all that publicity sisters, i hope they hear you. we can not afford to import other people's problems for sure.
3. Salary of provocation.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (03.09.09)
As the arabs living in Israel showed during all the years of the existence of Israel their opposition to the Jewish State, they, and they alone, are the ones to be blamed if an Israeli government consider them as a fifth column and treat them as one. If they accept Israel as their home, compared to all the other Arab countries, Israel will continue to be a blessing to them as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi3hx
4. Yes for sure
Yisraeli   (03.09.09)
But why would they want to work for the filthy colonialist, imperial occupying sionist pigs? So may I suggest to them, to all to leave and go find employment in Yemen, Somalia, Egypt, Jordan or wherever the hell you like, hey we'll even pay you a one way ticket. We just dont trust you with our families - get it? You taught us the hard way why not to trust you, so we finally get the message. Now go and dont let the door hit you on the way out.
5. How it started
Raoul ,   Israel   (03.09.09)
Let us remember that foreign workers are largely a phenomenon that started because Israelis were just plain scared to employ Arabs, after serial suicide bombings. Now employers are hooked on foreign labor, Arabs will have to convince us that its safe to take them back. A peaceful demo in Tel Aviv is a good start, but it won't be easy.
6. Maybe someone would listen if...
zach ,   US   (03.09.09)
They stopped wasting their votes on the Arab parties. Also how will they work with their 10 children at home?
7. Yisraeli u r so mean..
Angelica ,   Athens, Greece   (03.09.09)
Congradulations to the Arab women protesting for their rights! they deserve it! they want to advance and well done to them... Yisraeli you are so mean...you better get a one way ticket and slam the door behind you!
8. I agree with the women
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.09.09)
As a Right-winger I support these Arab citizens. The extreme-Left under the Labor Party pushed for the fake peace process which transferred jobs to sweat-shops in Gaza, Judea, Samaria and Jordan. Thanks to the Left-wing and their love for the corrupt Fatah terror organization, these Israeli citizens who are willing to work are forced to take unemployment benefits and stay oppressed by their husbands and brothers. The only ones who gain are the Left-wing industrialists who get cheap labor with no worker protection.
9. Slave Labor?
(03.09.09)
10. Israeli arab women protest
(03.09.09)
11. These women are right
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (03.09.09)
They are citizens of Israel and should have the right to work over illegals. And politically I am on the Right.
12. Good women
(03.09.09)
13. #4 Yisraeli: you are fascist and racist
elmiy ,   usa   (03.09.09)
14. I doubt these women want the same jobs
William ,   Israel   (03.09.09)
They are protesting unemployment but certainly don't want the back-breaking labor that the foreign workers are imported for - agriculture, construction, and care partner for elderly. Under the guise of their protest, what they're really demanding is what Arab youth have demanded - moving companies into THEIR region so Arabs can have work, at the expense of the Israeli govt. They demand jobs come to them, unlike their Jewish counterparts who move away from family to the cities in order to find work. Arabs just demand another form of welfare over the Jewish residents. Plus, security is an issue: How many foreigners killed an Israeli civilian? Zero. How many Arab workers killed Israeli civilians? Many.
15. Hope to see more such demonstartions..
Rami of nazareth   (03.09.09)
This demo shows that israeli-arabs sector has high unemploymnet because there is no jobs, not because we don't want to work (unlike heredi jews). This also shows that the days of the man being the only bredwinner and women staying home to cook and raise kids are long gone..
16. William - that's ridiculous
(03.09.09)
These are Israeli Arabs... not Palestinian workers... so please recalculate - just how many Arab Israelis have killed Jewish Israelis over nationalist reasons? Your "many" needs to be rethought and revised to match reality. We cannot keep on pointing the finger of disloyalty at our Arab citizens when we systematically reject all of their overtures to become active contributing members of Israeli society
17. #7 Angelica - Don't you have a bank to firebomb??
William ,   Israel   (03.09.09)
It never ceases to amaze me how Greek pretend to fight for rights, then show how they're willing to attack any non-Greeks in their midst, starting way before the purge during WWII. You're the first nation to cry to the EU about your crappy economy, then you go bomb a bank, like today. To these Arab women, they can have any job they like, if: 1) they are willing to travel for it (many are in cities, not rural areas), and 2) are qualified for it (I doubt these women can lay brick). Just as other Israelis must travel to big cities to find work, like Greeks who must come from the hills into Athens to get a job sometimes, so too must these Arabs compromise. The end to handing life to people on a silver platter, especially ego-centric, self-proclaimed Leftists like yourself.
18. why should the Jewish State provide jobs?
Arie ,   BaGolan   (03.09.09)
As was clearly evident during the recent conflict, and continues unabated, the arab sector in Israel DEMANDS we provide jobs, an education, health benefits, and EXCLUSIVE arab cities to be paid for by the JEWISH taxpayers. In return, the arabs riot against the police, proudly carry the flags of enemies sworn to our destruction, refuse to take oaths of loyalty to the state, or engage in any form of national service. BETTER SOLUTION: exchange the arab triangle for the settlements and the arabs can take care of their own, honour killings and all!
19. go women!
jerusalem   (03.09.09)
whether the arab men like it or not, ready or not better recognize.
20. 18
zionist forever   (03.09.09)
I COULDNT AGREE MORE If an arab trips in the street and its the fault of the zionist jews because they wouldn't invest in keeping the paving in good order because they knew arabs would walk down that street but if it was a street where only jews walk then the paving would not only be perfect but it would be covered in a red carpet. The so called Israeli arabs also call for settlements to be closed so lets do it and at the same time give the jews what they want and lets loose the Galilee arabs. Peres has many times talked about his vision of a jewish Galilee. So lets have the political courage to say lets kill two birds with one stone.
21. #7 Angelica, you don't understand the whole story
Jake   (03.09.09)
If anything, Israel practices affirmative action when it comes to emplyoment in the Arab sector. Many Arab women are prevented from working by their husbands. Go into Arab areas and you will see that the wives are often forced to sit in the back of the car, and the husband is driving like a chauffeur. Not to mention there is still the scourge of honor killings.
22. No work for Israel pali traitors!
(03.09.09)
they want our money so they can kill us? Go to hell.
23. #16 - Please be objective when referring to Arab overtures
William ,   Israel   (03.10.09)
First, let's all try to add our name in future posts. I'm happy to accept criticism of my posts but not by those who hide behind anonymity. Second, I agree that when compared to Palestinians, Israeli Arab violent actions are lower. However, I'm not clear about what overtures you are referring to by the Arab community. Having this protest for work is a nice positive action. Having community leaders ban ALL Arab youth from doing national service, even in his own town, is damning. Having Israeli Arabs march through the street calling for war crimes against Israelis when remaining silent on Hamas actions is damning. Having a protest in Haifa which turns out to be by and in support for the PFLP, is REALLY damning. Having Arab citizens call in a fake fire report only to throw stones on the fire trucks and police cars when they arrive is really damning. Calling themselves "Palestinians trapped in Israel" while demanding more State services, and attending subsidized school and health clinics, while not fully paying taxes is equally damning. So I ask you, Number 16, what overtures AM I IGNORING???
24. Israeli-Arab women protest unemployment, go racial
Jonathan M. Boyko ,   Ofrah, Israel   (03.14.09)
See? It's governments policy in the past 15 years to close the door for Arab women. That statement is, of course, ridiculous. Unemployment rate is high all over the country, including areas and industries with relatively little Israeli Arab presence. Foreign workers - from Thailand, for example - were hired by Israel agriculturers themselves, without government needing to create a "policy", for a simple reason - foreign workers are cheap. The situation is same in many countries, and is especially visible in the United States, where outsourcing abroad is reaching great proportions. I could beleive those women demonstrate just now, because the economic crisis leads to many of them being fired. Yet, it is unfortunate they do not understand that statements like ones made by Michal Swartz hurt them - a lot - as Israelis are tired of hearing about discrimination. Israeli-Arab sector blames Israeli government and Israelis themselves for discrimination, while forgetting the need to be loyal to the state, waving Palestinian flags on demonstrations and openly supporting Hamas and Fatah. I am quite ready to beleive there is a discrimination in Israel against Israeli Arabs. Yet, the problem is way less within the Israelis than what Arab representatives try to present. First of all, it is clear that in today's world, education is very important - the higher, the better - and while this generation of mature Israeli Arabs was growing, this factor was way less important, as many worked since being young - while the Israelis gave high priority to education. It is also important to understand, that for many Israelis entering Israeli-Arab town, villages and neighborhoods is outright dangerous and no one likes being stoned by youth, thus projects, that require high presence of Israeli officials on Arba-controlled territory (the mayor, municipality workers, advisers, etc.) are hard to implement, as each such arrival requires great security expenses, especially on the part of the police force. So while I can understand Arab women's frustration with the system, their position is not unique, and turning the issue as being Israelis against Arabs is ridiculous. Jonathan Boyko, TMidEast.Com
