1. Pope's visit
ruth goodman ,   manchester, England   (03.09.09)
The Pope's itinerary must include the homes and buildings scheduled for demolition in Silwan.
2. #1. The ones from which Jews were evicted in 1936?

3. The Pope is the emperor with no clothes,
JMK ,   NYC   (03.09.09)
he is the lead exponent of a myth. He is the king of nothing, he is the leader whose holy book is clearly a fiction. His god if there is a god, is a fiction and forgery, there was no Nazareth, explain that, it did not exist as a settlement of any size, no one lived there. di the Jews cross the Red Sea, but the hebrew bible says Sea of Reeds, ?? not that there was any Moshe Rabbeinu, or Exodus or Sinai with 600,000 Jewish males, and families, just did not happen.
4. Jesus came because of the original sin but
JMK ,   NYC   (03.09.09)
there was no original sin, no one was going to hell and damnation in the story of Genesis, so what were the Christians talking about, in a non-canonical, extra biblical book, we know just where this nonsense began, Jesus never could come to save anyone because there was no reason but people made him up and constructed the mythical idea of an historicized man god.
5. Pope Brings Hope
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (03.09.09)
I'm a Poet and I don't know it.
6. #3 JMK, you are exposed!
Jake   (03.09.09)
"Not that there was any Moshe Rabbeinu, or Exodus or Sinai with 600,000 Jewish males, and families, just did not happen." I knew it! In case any Jew should take comfort by your "proofs" that Jesus never existed, now you are also saying that key events in the Torah were a myth. Saying Moses, Exodus, and Sinai did not exist is saying that Judaism in its entirety is a fiction and fraud.
7. Catholic tour groups
Shoshannah ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.10.09)
The Catholic Pilgrimage groups that come to Israel, for the most part: 1) stay in Catholic run, Vatican owned hotels 2) do NOT utilize the services of licensed Israeli tour guides (their priests "guide" them while the MOT looks the other way...) 3) don't really do much shopping except in Christian Quarter shops or in Bethlehem or Nazareth; never eat in restaurants (only in hotels since they are usually on full board); never use taxis or other local transportation; etc. etc. etc. So - explain exactly where all this extra tourism money is coming from? Besides all that, the State of Israel will have to spend 43 million shekels of taxpayer money to pay for security and other aspects of the Pope's visit, which will block roads and close specific sites and buildings while he visits. Instead of helping the tourism industry and the country, it will simply make life more difficult and more expensive for local residents all over the country, but especially in Jerusalem. It would be better if he did NOT come but would rather encourage the Catholic pilgrimage groups to: 1) employ local licensed Israeli guides 2) stay on half-board and eat at least one meal every day in local restaurants as they tour 3) spend at least part of a day in downtown Jerusalem and other Israeli cities, exploring those shops to help the local economies. Unfortunately - it will never happen, since the Vatican is not interested in having its pilgrims help the State of Israel at all. After all, why would Catholics want to help the Jews, especially Catholics led by a GERMAN (former Nazi youth) Pope?
8. Tourism
MM ,   Jerusalem   (03.10.09)
Most of the world's Jews have never visited Israel. How sad.
9. and I say
ghostq   (03.10.09)
amen to that.
10. #6 Jake, guess what Megillat Esther is also just a story,
JMK ,   NYC   (03.10.09)
guess what Jews for hundred of years worshipped idols, guess what have you heard of Wellhausen, Bultmann, Strauss, but there was a Jewish people, Adam and Eve myth, the world is billions of years old, but you probably see human footprints in those of a T-Rex.
11. To #10 When it is written that the earth
jason white ,   afula,israel   (03.10.09)
was created in six days. It is not days of 24 hours.Perhaps each day was a billion or two biilion years long? And what was a year? All created by men. How strange that the earth is placed in the right distance from the sun. Closer and it would be too hot for life as we know it and too far and it would be too cold. The right mixtures of gases for us to breathe and water to survive. As well as plant life, vegetation, fish and animals to sustain us. Many other communities have their own "Purims" where they were saved in the last minute by a miracle to them. An anti semitic bishop or a mad king suddenly dying and the threatened community was saved. So why not in Persia? What Jews worshipped idols? If they were, then they were idol worshippers and not Jews!
12. Great - now the pasta destined for Gaza can be put to use
Gino   (03.11.09)
Use it for the Mediterranean tourists! A nice spaghetti bolognaise or noodles alfredo for all
13. More missionaries, yay...
(03.11.09)
14. Shoshannah
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.13.09)
If what you wrote is correct , why are the Jerusalem hotels full ? Are the catholic hotels so big that they can accept all those tourists coming here every year ? Do they return every noon to their hotels to eat ? Former nazi youth : He was six in 1933 . It was almost COMPULSORY to be in this organisation .
