31. Do you honestly think Ukraine will allow it?
David G   (03.12.09)
I remember the last time I few to Israel right after Rosh Hashonah (the fast was ending as we took off) and when I landed in Israel there were about 20+ flights coming in from Ukraine that day. The grave is a major part of the economy in Uman, it would be nice to move it and put it in a development town in Israel like Serdot, but I doubt Ukraine will give it up without a fight.
32. this rebbe love the soil of Ukraine.
Ukrainer   (03.12.09)

33. David, #16 -- those are pretty harsh words.
L ,   Elad, Israel   (03.12.09)
Of COURSE they're as Jewish as you are. They do not claim R' Nachman as a deity! I mean, there are some really whacked-out hippie-dippy "Nachmanim" that you are probably thinking of -- dancing on the roofs of their vans and spray-painting the famous "Na-Nach, etc..." graffiti everywhere, generally making a scene of themselves. There are, however, those who find great inspiration in R' Nachman's expounding on the Torah-way-of-life who are studious, quiet and not at all resembling those "Nachmanim" in any way. Both types, however, are fully Jewish. The Breslov group tends to draw a bit of a "fringy" element sometimes because it is very accepting of Jews from all walks of life, no matter the history; a very non-judgmental group, where all -- as you can see-- are welcome. R' Nachman is famed for his quote: "If you believe that you can destroy, believe that you can mend". You've probably seen it in one of the many outreach booklets the Breslovers are always handing out. That is very inviting to disenfranchised youth and even disenfranchised non-youth who would like to "find their way home" but don't know where to start or find other venues of Torah-Judaism too judgmental (perhaps they saw you standing at the door).
34. Save the money...
Aaron ,   SF, USA   (03.13.09)
...and fly a living Jew home instead.
35. No way!!
(03.13.09)
I'm sure that Rebbe Nachman wants to nach (rest) in Eretz Yisrael, but the Ukrainians will never let him go. The whole area there lives off the money the stupid Jews give them!
36. Let him rest in Shechem!
Herut ,   New York, USA   (03.13.09)
Let him rest in Shechem! This would both grant his wish to return home and help protect that city from Bibi and the rest (who want to give it to our enemies!)
37. will the ukraine allow #31
meir ,   israel   (03.13.09)
i agree. the mafia which controls uman would never permit the move without a war. however, moving nachman to tel aviv or afula would be just what we need. that being said ,breslover chasidim also want nachman in uman.
38. Chaim , 13 . Ynet is right !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.13.09)
He is named : Rabbi Nachman of Breslov , not related to his burial place .
39. UKRAINE IS DANGEROUS!
ABE ,   BROOKLYN   (03.13.09)
I was there several times. The police are walking around drunk, they stop people for money, the medical care is primitive and even dangerous, the air is dirty and yes it is filled with toxins. There are many criminal gangs and the locals are contemptuous.THAT MAKES THIS PLACE A DANGER TO LIFE.BRING HIM HOME!
40. Let R. Nachman Rest in Galut
Avi   (03.15.09)
Why do they want to go through all the trouble to bring it to Israel? I believe that there is a custom where, the dead should be left alone once buried. R. Nachman did his work in the galut, and died in the galut. That is where he should stay. Now, if they want to erect a monument or a memorial in Tsfat, or in Jerusalem, fine-he was influential to a group of Jews, and to that extent should be recognized.
