31. As a U.S. taxpayer...
jv ,   LA, USA   (03.14.09)
... the IDF is more than welcome to blow it all up. The people of Gaza should not be rewarded for terrorism and aggression towards Israel. So, go ahead, fire away! In fact, I insist.
32. We should fight with the will to defeat the enemy.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (03.14.09)
US Congressman David Weldon (R., Florida), who visited Israel over a year ago, said Israel should strike back at Gaza in one fell swoop. “During World War II,” Weldon told the Makor Rishon newspaper, “the U.S. attacked Japan mercilessly. Despite the ethical problems, everyone now agrees that this caused Japan to surrender, thus saving many lives, including Japanese lives. This is the reason I think Israel should hit the Palestinians with one fell swoop, thus defeating them. Otherwise, this cruel situation of today will continue year after year, decade after decade.Just like parents have to protect their children,” Weldon said, “a state must protect its citizens, especially those who are threatened such as those in Sderot. If a country would attack the U.S., I would support turning that country into dust. If it’s right for the U.S., it’s right for Israel.” As described at : http://xrl.us/biz8x
33. Thanks to Ehud & Ehud....
Alexa   (03.14.09)
34. If the PA unites with Hamas there will be no huge sums!
martin knopfman ,   tel aviv   (03.13.09)
Bibi, Boogie, Lieberman and Askenazi won't put up with the rockets for more than a day or two and Hamas is already calling for quiet. Deterrence is returning and lives will be saved. Israel has nothing to look for in Europe which is becoming Islamisized, so Israel should do what is necessary to protect Israel. Martin
35. Did Russia chip in at all?
Damir ,   Russia   (03.14.09)
A sack of flour maybe.

38. #7 is so right
TC ,   Haifa   (03.14.09)
If they start again their stupid game, we should not hesitate to blow them up no matter where this money came from.
39. #30 - time to chat with Hamas and Hezbullah about living
martin knopfman ,   Tel Aviv   (03.14.09)
in peaceful coexistence with Israel? Time for you to wake up and smell the coffee my friend. Hamas won't unite with the PA because it (Hamas) refuses to recognize Israel. Hezbullah announced just today, "we won't recognize Israel in the next 1000 years". Who exactly do you see Israel having these peaceful little chats with? The best thing for the area will be for Israel to gain its former deterrence which will begin within the next few weeks. Egypt made peace with Israel because it saw and sees no chance of defeating it and not because it wanted to. Martin
40. the money line
bill ,   los angeles, USA   (03.14.09)
once again, Mr. Lapid offers insightful comment on the relationship between Israel and the West.

my my my what happened to peace loving americans from California? did we forget to take our med's this morning? ;)
42. #41
jv ,   LA, USA   (03.14.09)
Peace loving Americans from California do not support terrorism or terrorists, therefore, they do not support rewarding Gaza for its acts of aggression against Israel. If you had taken YOUR meds this morning, I wouldn't have to tell you this.
43. Its a rocket & suicide vest thing, #41
Cameron ,   USA   (03.14.09)
It does indeed findamentally alter one's take on affairs. You'll finally have your moment of clarity as well in the near future.
44. #36 thank you, but nablus is too dangerous for jews
a jew   (03.14.09)
last week warnings were issued in the press, not to go to nablus if you're jewish, for fear of attack or kidnapping
45. GAZA'S BEST DEFENSE
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (03.14.09)
Lapid and his co-liberalists are Gaza's best defense and have been for years. In their unrelenting effort to appease and to assimilate, combined with a hatred to anything that reminds them off their roots, they are Gaza's biggest supporters. Lapid who is one off Ynet's darlings will leave no opportunity untouched to attack and devalue his own people , all in the name off his religion called Liberalism. His article is just prove off how there is a lack off faith and resolve and a general demise off Herzelism. Gaza is just a reminder to us to be strong and claim our birthright without excuses and concern off worldopinion.
46. i don't know
veronica ,   usa   (03.15.09)
the money was pledged and if the past is any indication then the money will go to arafat's old bank account which actually goes to someone else!!!
47. Money to Gaza
Robert Tilden ,   Sheridan, WY, USA   (03.15.09)
The writer is nieve. Pledged funds are cheap. Did any of the money come through yet? Is this the first time a fundraser was held for the Palestinians? Of course not and it never stopped Israel from defending itself before. Assuming they actually hand over some of this dream money, it has happend before. Israel bombed the electric power plant in Gaza that the US built for them.
48. gaza's new line of defence
shmuel ,   tel aviv   (03.15.09)
Does that mean the Gazan will show their appreciation to their generous donors by not bombing buildings in Israel donated by the same donors?
49. Escrow
Fred ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.15.09)
Israel should prevent import of the goods and cash until Hamas is out of power. This will provide another incentive for Gazans to get rid of Hamas. It might help.
50. #3 - COnsider the 1973 attacked on the Soviet center payback
William ,   Israel   (03.15.09)
for the Soviets involvement in the 1967 attack on Israel by Syria and Egypt, with special mention to their ships that sat of Haifa's coast and planes that ran early missions over Dimona. The Soviet's involvement was truly one of the only reasons Israel got the support of the West it did. However, you failed to see the beauty of your own point. All the places you mentioned, whether you considered them "military" or not were NOT civilian. Yet Arabs find a way to continue targeting Israeli civilian centers and infrastructure - cities, playgrounds, schools, even farmers in their fields. ...but the IDF?? No, they run from them.
51. Another US Taxpayer Here !
Christy ,   Boston, US   (03.16.09)
If any rebuilding goes on with US funds (some of *MY* money), please do NOT consider these buildings sacrosanct. If Israel gets bombarded with rockets again & has to defend itself ... go ahead. Won't bother me at all if a US funded building is destroyed in the process. I'm very upset that *MY* Money may be used by Gazan terrorist leaders to terrorize Israel & their own people. I'd LOVE to see accounts kept & verified as to who gets this money & how it's used.
52. to 45 a jew
heyam ,   nablus   (03.16.09)
the saying is not for arab or jew but yours has a policy taste but this morning i raed the attack was not in nablus so the warnning is illusive but the message of mine has another meaning you can not got it ..
53. Another U.S. Taxpayer - Different from the rest
The Logic Stick ,   Sharon, U.S.   (03.16.09)
I support the use of my tax money to rebuild the roads, schools, hospitals and other vital infrastructure that the genocidal Israeli War-Machine destroyed in the vicious campaign. Long live Palestine, overthrow the Zionist oppressor!
