1. Okay
GUH   (03.16.09)
1. You sound completely pathetic and paranoid that made someone like me just skip the article 2. If that is the case, is your solution to get rid of/ control all media functions, including ynet? If so, BE MY GUEST!!!
2. sad bu true: shalit family does Hamas a favor
uli ,   jerusalem   (03.16.09)
it's sad, but yes, many israelis, many israeli media and the shalit family do and say exactly those things that Hamas would like to do and say so that the Israeli government is pressured to a devastating deal - with the important difference that all they are speaking from withing Israeli society and not from gaza and bringing the point home better than hamas could have ever dreamed off. actually it could be said that there is the possibility that with every demonstration for gilad they distance him even further from home since hamas is setting his price thus higher and higher. it's sound inhumane but in the end would have been even the best to say that the family believes in the the government and wil carry any decision it will make at any time and wish them to decide for the BEST OF THE COUNTRY. Hamas would have seen that the price is just sinking and sinking and maybe fast agree to an exchange. but this way they can hold him for years and even feel kind of safe as long as he is in their hands.
3. Israel's LEFTIST media are in bed with EU "journalists"
Dr. Dave ,   NYC   (03.17.09)
All they want to do is be liked. So much so they will destroy their own country. What a sick bunch!
4.  Goldwasser and Regev sold papers too
Ilan ,   Ariel   (03.17.09)
The media in Israel likes pushing forward short sighted ideas. The return of past hostages or their remains was made as if had to be at "any price", so the natural response to Israel losing it over Goldwasser and Regev was for Hamas to set it's price that much higher. If Shalit returns or not is the issue for the media. They want ratings now and nothing else will stand in their way.
5. Exactly. Just what some of us have been calling for.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (03.17.09)
I've been making many of those same suggestions. We've heard for years that there's "no military solution" to free Shalit, though it might have been possible before Cast Lead was wound down. But Israel has never actively considered pressuring Hamas families by limiting visits, though it would be entirely legal. But Israel is too "nice" for that. Gotta' keep the peace within the prisons, which they do by granting privileges that would never pass muster in a US prison.
6. The Shalit Festival
Helen ,   Maalot   (03.17.09)
How refreshing to read something so wise. I think that a good percentage, if not a majority, agree. Enough of playing into our enemy's hands. Wake up!!
7. Nobody needs the media
(03.17.09)
8. Why is everyone so hard on the Shalit Family?
Esther ,   Ofarim, Israel   (03.17.09)
They are doing what any loving family would do, fight for their son, do everything they can to bring him home. They can't just sit idly and wait for something to happen. Their son is in enemy hands, and who know what he's going through. However, bereaved and scared parents/family have no place in Government negotiations. The Government needs to make decisions that benefit not only the Shalit family, but the entire country. The burden rests on the Government, not on the family.
9. GUH
david cohen ,   china   (03.17.09)
skip it. u r playing the hamas card. Yehuda is palying the right music but to DEAF EARS like GUH's. you, Israelis are your worst ennemies
10. He is right, unfortunately
Nadav ,   Misgav   (03.17.09)
The way this issue makes the headlines encourages hamas to demand more and more. another remark to "Dr. Dave": do me a favour and stay in New York. We have enough Idiots around here
11. a brave voice!
sophie ,   Haifa, Israel   (03.17.09)
As a foreign journalist, I surprised on the whole situation. Because a terrorism event, so many people become the enemy of their own government. I wonder if there is any demonstration against Hamas, instead of Israeli government. I agree with you about the media.
12. Nadav from Misgav does not recognize freedom of speech
m   (03.17.09)
Whenever a leftist doesn't like what diaspora Jews have to say, he shuts their mouth with the big faux pas: "you don't live here" you have no right to speak. Actually Dr. Dave says the same thing as the article which is true, media gave 28 mandates to Kadima which should have been dismantled, media helps the enemy in the war and the enemy in peace. They have the POWER they are the ones brainwashing people like Nadav.
13. read the last paragragh
ecr   (03.17.09)

Nadav ,   Misgav   (03.17.09)
Paranoia, Paranoia, Paranoia, Paranoia, Wow, I was never told a brainwasher. ....may it depends on the size of the brain?
16. Tzedaka,Sherman and Wegman agree
svietka from shomron   (03.18.09)
and so do most of ppl in isr-we dont blame the family for doing what they can-but we do blame the media for sensationalism seeking and obsessing on any 1given subject at a time--once he will be released(or god forbid killed) he will be forgotten in less then a week...media is milking it for what it can get for now-till next juicy subject comes up.
17. Shalit an excuse
Adam Eliyahu Berkowi   (03.18.09)
The government is screaming for a prisoner exchange and the media is taking up the cry.The end is obvious. For the sake of the holy young man in captivity, Arabs with blood on their hands will be released to kill again. This will serve the politicos well. But because of our evil and disgusting politicians, Shalit will not be released.
18. Wegman is right
Rick ,   USA   (03.18.09)
19. media
ados ,   Boston, USA   (03.19.09)
Does the media have some responsibility? Shalit family should bring them to the court.
