I believe Israeli Arabs can join the IDF ... no discrimination here. As #5 pointed out, it's been a longstanding (since WWII?) law in the US that former soldiers (veterans ..vets) get preferential status for government jobs. They also have education, health, and mortgage benefits... that non-vets are NOT entitled to. Seems very reasonable to me that a country give some preferential treatment to people who put their lives on the line to defend their country. As far as the US goes, I'd like to see *more* benefits given to vets. It's thanks to the vets that we have a free country. => This applies to Israel too.

We are ignoring the participation of Arabs with Israeli citizenship in terrorist attacks, and we refuse to recognize that most of the property crimes in Israel are carried out by Arabs.
