Moshe ,   Israel   (03.19.09)
You are a stupid idiot. Leave to where? Does that Justify killing innocent civilians?
32. the media has got to stop printing mere accusations
randi ,   jerusalem   (03.19.09)
anybody can say anything. it doesn't make it true. when there is something to tell, after an investigation has (g-d forbid) proven something bad, that is time enough to print it. but it may not even be true, yet anti-semites world-wide will take this so-called information and use it to demonize it endlessly. if its proven false, no one will oay any attention. The Jennin massacre and al Dura shooting come immediately to mind as incidents used to condemn us, when it was later proved that no wrong-doing had been committed by us.
33. YNET immoral
m   (03.19.09)
aiding and abbeting antisemitism, under the guise of free speech. Any rummor is news.
34. keep your mouth shut,
oded   (03.19.09)
and your b.s thoughts to yourself.. these losers are not the first soldiers in israel to expereince war...it was either them or the"" arab civilains"'! c'mon, they should be thankfull for thier officers who kept them alive by being so vigiglant with the arab enemy!
35. NCO knows who I am. I am a member of this unit
Mike ,   Israel   (03.19.09)
He is a liar
36. morality
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.19.09)
During 1944, the British and Americans could have bombed the German Death Camps saving Jewish lives, but they chose not to. Reading the "testimony" of the two anonymous NCOs, we see that the choice not to bomb the Death Camps was moral. If the Allies had attacked the death camps, innocent Germans would have undoubtedly been "murdered" to use the word chosen by the NCOs.
37. IDF's behavior in Gaza
Leon Rogson ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.19.09)
I found nothnig objectionable in the behavior. When houses are booby trapped, and people are shooting from roofs and windows, to knock politely on the door and as for permission to come in is pretty unreasonable. Civilians are killed in war time, and the overwhelming concern of our military has to be for our own civilian and military personnel, not the enemies. To paraphrasePatton. "It is not for our soldires to die for our country, it is for them to convince our enemies to quickly die for theirs." Leon
38. NCO is either a liar or a minority of minority
David ,   Boston, USA   (03.19.09)
If he is lying, treat him appropriately. If he is truthful, then those who did this need to be held accountable. nevertheless, I am 100% confident that less than 1% of all possible instances could be this way. From my understanding of conflict around the world, nothing is perfect. Thats why there are MPs and accountability. The vast majority of what took place was moral and just. I dont condone or excuse behavior like this, but I am certain if it did happen it was a small minority and will be handled accordingly.
39. The most moral army?
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv   (03.19.09)
Ours is no more or less moral than any other. We are made up of human beings and when human beings go to war they become something else. There is an awful inevitability to this first expose and the questions it will raise are not new to us. Anyone familiar with Yizhar's Khirbet Khiza written and published just after the War of Independence will recognise this. Uri Blau's 'Warrior Talk' 8 years ago revealed the same moral issues. Who of those who went to war against Gaza will create the next award winning cartoon. How long will it take? And how long before we confront the real question - Must Israel Forever Live By The Sword?
40. And you wonder why most of the people around the world hate
(03.19.09)
you ????? Just look at the talkbacks being posted by all these monkeys in here.
41. #39 Live by the sword: YES, as long as it takes
(03.19.09)
42. War
Marilyn ,   USA   (03.19.09)
I do not think that a moral war can be fought. Maybe such exists in the minds of people that think they can have this in the beginning of a war, but this quickly goes away. Same way with meeting requirements for a just war. Such things plus costs and penalties and somewhat the futility of it all make it easier not to have a war and to try other options. Then there is the idea of only having wars available for extreme situations, but then it starts becoming that every situation is an extreme situation and somehow qualifing for a just war or hot pursuit. Also if a country goes into a war, it leaves them in a very vulnerable position either through attack by other countries or massive criticism. So can see wars themselves pose very difficult problems and require much, much thought.
43. #29 great reply!
shimon   (03.19.09)
44. #40 - I see tons fo hate in Western and Arab press...
William ,   Israel   (03.19.09)
Do YOU?? No one in Israel, except maybe Olmert, gives a rat's ass what your or world opinion is of Israel. Go pound sand. Your credibility is nothing in our eyes as the virulent hate and demonization of all non-Muslim Arabs is repeated daily in their media and your ilk still run to appease them. Your ilk decry Israel as "racist" when their minorities attend schools and clinics for free, while minorities in Iran are being arrested as "spies" and their cemeteries plowed over. It takes no effort to hate. It takes a lot of effort to seek justice and understand. That is why so many people around the world hate Israel.
45. Take a deep breath and count to 10
David Olesker ,   Jerusalem Israel   (03.19.09)
There are several issues mixed up in this report: 1) Is the information accurate or not? 2) Accidents of war. 3) Legitimate killing of innocent civilians (yes that's right, laws of war recognize that such tragedies will sometimes result from legitimate military actions). 3) Accusations of lack of professional standards. If true, these are the same lapses that lead to friendly fire deaths of Israeli soldiers. Unforgivable and subject to punishment, but NOT evidence of war crimes. 4) Accusations of vandalism and contempt. If it happened those who did it should be punished and so should their commanders for failing to maintain discipline.

Has YNET never anything good to say about Israel Or the IDF.Ynet has become the officail mouthpiece pf Hamas and any arab that has a bad word to say about treatment in Israel Ynet is responsible for all the twisted ,distorted lies and falsehoods in all the foreign press. The justice ministry should look into the vicious slander ,that this filty paper has produced.
47. Reponse to #1 and #2
US-IL-Observer ,   Chicago, IL, US   (03.19.09)
Just listen to yourself. Shameful, just shameful. Even in wars, there are rules and regulations. Violation of these rules and codes of conduct constitute a war crime. Everyone, everyone, including Hamas, should be held accountable for crimes such as these, and even more so the IDF since it a military institution. There is never, and there will never be a excuse for war crimes, no matter who commits them. ALL responsible parties should be held accountable.
48. BBC uses this exclusively
Max ,   New York   (03.19.09)
I heard about this on the BBC today - that Israeli papers are reporting this. Of course, this is the kind of news that the BBC eat up. Israelis just hand it right to the haters instead of dealing with it properly - in the army courts - not in the press. Shame on those soldiers for not going through the proper channels and embarrassing their country.
49. Ynet
Waleed ,   Beirut   (03.19.09)
Why is it that you censor every tb we write that shows what many prominent Jews worldwide think of Israel? Shame on you.
50. IDF investigation adds more discredits
observer   (03.19.09)
The IDF has ordered an investigation into soldiers' story. The next step will be to probe the post-op investigations. Is that what is know as autonomous discrediting?
51. israel
jj   (03.19.09)
i sincerely hope this is all paid back to you in kind and then hear you shrug your shoulders saying "war is hell".
52. This was not a war.
Bill Staar ,   Chicago USA   (03.19.09)
A war by definition is opposing countries army's fighting against each other. The Palestinians have no country other than Israel, they have no army, they are under your control, and are subjects to your rule, and laws, all this was, was a country using it's army against it's own civilian population.
53. Somebody give these guys some Jewish education please
usa   (03.19.09)
Because they don't know or understand the differance between what is moral or immoral anymore. IF ONE COMES TO SLAY YOU, SLAY HIM FIRST. Freakin' common sense and logic.
54. 41
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv   (03.19.09)
As long as what takes? Until there's no morals left, until there's none of us left until there's none of them left?
55. G-d commands
observer   (03.19.09)
Would G-d command a people to destroy another people? He did in the Old Testament times. The record of the conquest of Canaan by Israel was accurate and not based on revelation. God did indeed command that the idolatrous people of the land be destroyed before ancient Israel could inhabit the land. We are the people of Israel, we arrived in the country almost by miracle, now we need to fight to uproot the gentiles who interfere with re-conquering the Holy Land. We have the most moral army in the world because we follow the most moral religion in the world, unless we are secular,
56. Bill Staar #52
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.19.09)
You do not get to invent definitions. War: the waging of armed conflict against an enemy. So yes it was a war. The 'Palestinians' are not nor have they been under our control since the Oslo Accords. They are not our civilians in any way, shape, or form.
57. The Palis brought it on themselves
David Rosenberg ,   New York, USA   (03.19.09)
Whatever the findings of the probe for these allegations conclude one must not loose sight of some basic facts. Israel ethnically cleansed Jews from Gaza in 2005 and enabled the strip to rule itself. Since then the civilian population of Gaza democratically elected Hamas,a genocidal terrorist organization to rule them. The Hamas army did not wait long to perpetrate numerous border attacks against IDF positions resulting in the kidnapping and illegal holding of Shalit. Then Hamas, with the consent and support of their electorate, launched daily indiscrimate rocket barrages on Israeli civilians for over 5 years with the intent to injure and kill Jews. Had Hamas never done any of these things, Israel would have never been forced into a position to defend herself, and these alleged "crimes" would not have taken place.
58. #47 US-IL-Observer
Mark Wilson ,   USA   (03.19.09)
Just by reaing most of the idiotic tbs here you get a sense that Israel has degenerated into a sub-humane society with no morals at all. We share part of the blame because if not for the material and financial support that we provide, this would not have been possible!
59. Sick
Levy ,   NY   (03.19.09)
These comments are sick - you should all stand up and say "We, the IDF, are the terrorists and we are proud of it and will kill anyone we like"
60. What exactly is NCO?
