2. ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!
Brian ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.25.09)
The police finally doing their job!?!? Laws finally being enforced!?!?!? This renegade town and it's violent, anti-Israel, anti-Jewish residents finally being held to the same laws as all the other citizens of this nation!?!?!??!? Brought to you by who???? Not Kadima, not Likud, not ass clown Lieberman. Brought to you by Ichud Leumi, the only true zionists left in this nation, labled as extremeists and militant, but the truth is these brave Israelis simply, peacfully walked through an Israeli town with Israeli flags. The Arab residents of this town carrying Palestinian flags and wearing masks retaliated with violence. Many on the left call this provocative. BULL SHIT, it's way over due, lawful, and these demonsrtators are true patriots, with the courage and love for their nation, to walk into this hornets nest, and they had to fight for the right to do it. I voted for Ichud Leumi in the last election, I hope in the next election many of you will wake the hell up and do the same!!!! http://www.leumi.org
3. correction of post #2

5. what is protesting
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.25.09)
If the people of Um El Fahem protested against Jews entering their city or protested against the police, they would have waved banners and maybe shouted slogans. Throwing massive amounts of large stones while screaming "Slaughter the Jew" is not protesting, it is incitement to racism, aggravated assault and attempted murder. The only question is why peaceful Right-wing protests end up with wounded and handicapped protestors, while violent Left-wing protests end up with no more than arrests.
6. violent protestors and stone throwers should be prosecuted..
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (03.25.09)
Eventhough i wish this city had a more moderate leadership... readers should note.. the majority of Um el Fahem residents heeded request by the local leadership and the police and stayed away... we are talking about handfull of protestors who do not represent all of the city's residents...
7. Marzel and riots
London eye ,   London   (03.25.09)
In Northern Ireland the freako Paisleyites used to do the same - demand the right to march down every street in the province and to play their ridiculous drums and fifes to irritate the Catholics. Baruch Marzel - what a lovely restrained positive sane man - is doing the same. Who can blame the residents of Umm el-Fahm if a piece of scum and his hundred brainless violent acolytes decide taht Umm el-Fahm is the next place for their provocative actions. If those right-wing freakos had their way Israel would be a mixture of Iran/Afghanistan and 1930s Germany along with 1980s Serbia. Those marchers were not there on a march of peace and reconciliation and all you readers know that perfectly well - they were in Umm il-Fahm to provoke, to irritate and they knew full well that their presence would cause riots. Had I been in Umm il-Fahm I would have been polishing the stones to give to the counter demonstrators. As for comment number #2 referring to Umm il Fahm as a hornets' nest - what a lovely sentiment which manages to dehumanise your fellow citizens. However, dehumanisation of non-Jewish citizens is major part of being a good Israeli citizen, so why am I surprised. Peace in our time? Not effin' likely with criminal racist morons like Marzel around and all those who support his little "let's bring on World War II" clique.
8. Rami, what are you talking about?
Avraham ,   NYC   (03.25.09)
There were substantial crowds, and in response to Jews walking through their city, the nation where Jews are masters, they were screaming, "Khaibar, Khaibar, oh Jews, the Army of Muhammad will return" (Khaibar, Khaibar, ya yahud.."), a genocidal cry of Muslim terrorists. You think we Jews here are naive and that none of us know Arabic???
9. # 7 Exactly !
aVI ,   Rannana   (03.25.09)
Seems you have a good view of things from the London Eye. You are 100% right the only intention of these religious holigans is to stir up trouble and incite hatred. The arab population of Um AL Fahm, have good cause to fear these lunatics. Will they be allowing Arabs to march through there radical settlements ?
10. to #9
Brian ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.25.09)
Why don't you go take a stroll through Umm al-Fahm, see how that goes for you. The residents of Umm al-Fahm can go anywhere in Israel safely, but let me see you go there, dummy.
11. #10 and Umm il Fahm
London eye ,   London, UK   (03.25.09)
Seems that people like the author of #9 are a big part of the problem in the Middle East. Anglo Saxon implants with an in-bred hatred of Arabs - is it so difficult to see that the recent hate-mongering by Yisrael Beitenu has set the residents of various Arab-majority towns in ISrael on edge. When pig-ignorant immigrants from Moldavia start talking about redrawing borders, when the state has a bulldozer policy and when a group of 100 zealots with not an iota knowledge of the concepts of equality or human rights march through your town... on the other hand, you like most other right-wing freakos think, in your Zionist cuckoo land, that the non-Jewish inhabitants of Israel should really just lie down and die, having - like the Serbs used to make the Bosnian Moslems do - just signed over the deeds of their properties and assets to the "correct" ethnic group. As for the residents of Umm il Fahm going anywhere in Israel - why don't you dress as an Arab for a day and wander around Tel Aviv - try to make a doctor's appointment, try to get into a restaurant.... you have bluddy eyes - try using them matey.
12. #6 - Rami, Most Germans in WWII weren't Nazis...
Darren ,   Oakland, CA   (03.25.09)
...and the majority of Germans in WWI weren't directly involved in and knew nothing about what was going on in concentration camps. Edmund Burke once said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." If your claim is correct that the views of the majority of the residents of Umm al-Fahm were not represented by those rioting and shouting anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic slogans, it does not mean that their hate is any less real and any less deadly. Quite on the contrary, their complacence fosters an environment where hate and political extremism are allowed to grow. If these people do not represent your views, why don't you arrange an Arab march with no flags other than the Israeli flag in Umm al-Fahm? As Baruch Marzel just proved, you have every legal right to do so...
13. #7 - London eye, Do you hold that same standard...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (03.25.09)
... to the Leftists and Arabs who march down the streets of Tel Aviv and scream "Free, free Palestine!!" and "60 years of occupation is enough!!"? Do you also hold that same standard to the Gays who demand to hold Pride Parades in Jerusalem, against the wishes of 90% of its Jewish AND Arab population? If the AG allows Gays to march in Jerusalem and Leftists and Arabs to march in Tel Aviv, by law, it is required to extend those same rights to Rightists marching in Umm al-Fahm. The knife cuts both ways, my dear friend...
14. #10 Brian
Jennifer   (03.25.09)
I have been to Umm il-Fahm numerous times and have been greeted with nothing but goodwill and friendliness. If you go into these Arab towns with hatred and ignorance you cannot expect to get anything but a cold welcome. Have you ever been there or are you just voicing your ill-informed prejudices and paranoia. To London Eye, well said, a voice of reason.
