1. I agree
bobby   (03.25.09)
Let's hope that we are right!!!!!!! The extreme right, extreme left & extreme religious should learn not to be extreme. While extremosts have some value, they should not be allowed to rule. Whether it's the left who just love to hate or the right who always screw up bcause of their stupidity & bring in a leftist government or Haredi Ahkenazi's who promote a distaste for God & religion because of their narrow-minded stubborn uncompromizing views, these individuals cannot dictate to the majority even thogh they are a minority.
2. New "Bibi" is the old "Bibi"
Steve   (03.25.09)
"Bibi" Netanyahu could have established a strong right-leaning, nationalist government that might have had a chance of withstanding immoral pressure from (new) U.S. President B. Hussein but the "New Bibi" like the "Old Bibi" could not do it. He did not have the moral courage to muster a strong nationalist government. Instead we will be treated to the same old compromising Old "Bibi" who will give-in to U.S. President B. Hussien at virtually every turn; both he and his new weak / limping unity government. Hope I am wrong. I would like to be wrong; only it looks like the "New Bibi" is the same-old, "Old Bibi."
3. Oh please
chaim   (03.25.09)
Once again Netanyahu lies to the people and abandons the natural right wing partners. Unfortunately, Netanyahu is not a right winger and is living off of Yoni Netanyahu's name.
4. What a shame...
Chaim ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.25.09)
In order to understand the "absurdities" of the Israeli political system, I often ask myself what would have happened if the situation had been the "opposite". In other words, had Kadima been able to form a 65 seat majority with Labor, Meretz and the Arab parties, would the media complain and warn against the dangers of such a "narrow extreme left" government and call for "unity" with the Likud?- I don't think so... It's a shame that Bibi did not have the courage to form a pro Land of Israel government with his "natural" partners....
5. Bibi the Man of the hour.
petra ,   uSA   (03.25.09)
the right man for the right time. I only hope he manages to keep talking and not giving up any land to the muslims who'd use it as a base as Gaza to fire onto the Jewish people. He's your leader, stand w/ him or move. We fight to live, the muslims fight to murder us all. Remember 9-11
6. Wrong
Giora Me'ir ,   USA   (03.25.09)
The big winner is Livni and Kadima.
7. #5 sitting in DAh!merica
(03.25.09)
1. Mr. Netanyahu has already given up land to the Muslims (See: Wye Plantation agreements on Hebron and note that Mr. Netanyahu voted in favor of the Disengagement from Gaza) 2. 911 is Dah!merica's problem not Israel's problem. Dah!merica is still stuck in the quamire of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. (When are your troops coming home?) 3. Mr. Netanyahu is the Prime Minister elect of Israel but I don't have to agree with him and I don't have to move. (If you are so in favor of Mr. Netanyahu's government why don't you move here and support him from the front ranks instead of pontificating from the back row?)
8. The big losers: The people of the State of Israel
(03.25.09)
we are just going to suffer more!
9. HOPE & CHANGE, #7 & #8
Cameron ,   USA   (03.25.09)
The Left had it's moment, and tanked. Tanked badly. Don't tell me you've gotten that comfortable dodging rockets. Time to put the Lefty bitterness aside, and embrace a more realistic take on governing.
10. It's not Netanyahu that is to blame for
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (03.25.09)
including Labor to get a decent reliable vote in the Knesset, but the Israeli voter. If I remember right, before Cast Lead Netanyahu was leading big time in the polls. Then Olmert cynically played the voter by finally showing some spine and ordered Cast Lead. That bought him just enough votes to pull even with Netanyahu, and leave him with too few votes between him and his natural partners FORCING him to make this compromise. Now as a non Jew and non Israeli with a vastly imperfect knowledge of events there I truly doubt that my analysis is too far wrong. You the voters have nobody to blame but yourself!
11. #6 - Livni is doomed and will not lead Kadima for long ..
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (03.25.09)
Livni proved twice that she doen't know how to negotiate. She has shown that she has a giant ego that's easily inflated by sour grapes. How you make winners out of isolated losers is perhaps known only to you. Mike
12. #9 study history Mr. Olmert isn't a leftist! He tanked badly
(03.25.09)
The rest of us are still standing!
13. Joe #10: You are not entirely wrong.
Steve   (03.25.09)
You are right in that you blame the voter. We voters - those of us on the right - keep getting it wrong time and time and time again. You are right, before Cast Lead Netanyahu was leading big in the polls. It was not Cast Lead but after Netanyhu's maneuver to destroy Moshe Feiglin, to move him from the #20 slot he earned to the #36 ("no-man's land") slot that Netanyhu / Likud plummeted in the polls, though not nearly enough. Too many on the right voted for Netanyahu notwithstanding what he did to Feiglin rather than smelling the coffee and voting for principled parties. NU for instance. This is where I believe you are wrong. Netanyahu's "natural partners" are not on the right but on the left because Netanyahu is weak, faithless and corrupt; almost as corrupt and faithless as Mr. Olmert. What is the definition of insanity? The Right votes for Netanyahu time and time again, hoping for a different result.
14. To #2, just get off it -- Show the President respect
Mark G Kirshner ,   East Islip, NY USA   (03.25.09)
Do you really think a closet Arab would pick Rahm Emmanuel as his Chief of Staff (or that Rahm would accept the post). Give the President a chance and stop harping on his national origins and name. Peace will be made by Israelis on Israel's terms, g-d willing. Bibi won't cave to anyone.
15. #12 - Look at reality, Olmert is a leftist!
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (03.25.09)
His failures are the failures of the Israeli Left. Meretz and Labor have shown their policies delusional given the present political climate.
16.  Give Bibi one chance, no more!
patriot ,   chicago,US   (03.25.09)
If he negotiates away any land, dump him immediately. And he needs to dump Labor if they become a problem. The only mistake Bibi made in the past was 'Wye'. Obama is not a friend of Israel, but many Americans are. Already the Right is going after Obama and is chopping at one leg of the Obama 'stool'. Like Humpty Dumpty he will fall off the wall. And the American Right is going to push him off that wall, at some point.
17. Bibi's coalition
Yisraeli   (03.25.09)
appears will be Likud 27, Lieberman 15, Labour 13, Shas 11 and bayit hayehudi snuck in with their 3 making it 69 if Im not mistaken. Katzele of Ichud Leumi wont be in due to no assurances given of no surrender of jewish land. UTJ (4) wont get their "fee" paid so they are out. Now if Barak gets to be defense minister again this will be a terrible blow to Israel never mind Ya'alon. Barak is an incompetent. Any attempt to split Jerusalem will have shas pull out but then open to Kadimah renegades to cross the floor to make the numbers. But Kadimah renegedes are now seething as they have no bargaining chip for positions and their coming back to Likud would come cheaply. Bottom line i dont trust any of them, but in order to deal with Iran and Obama Labour needs to be in or at least seen to be in (as much as I hate them).Tzipi Livni has now become irrelevant, which isnt so bad in the wash. This cedancia could also spell the demise of Labour and Kadimah as we know it, which would be worth celebrating. But all remains to be seen. And yes hopefully this will be Bibis last premiership.
18. Yisraeli #17
(03.26.09)
Why do Labor traitors need to be in, in order to deal with the Iranian mullahs and U.S. President Hussein? B. Hussein Obama is America's worst nightmare; this usurper / appeaser of our enemies! Have you ever heard of "buyer's remorse?" Millions of Americans are feeling it since January 2009. Why bring in Labor to appease this low-life U.S. president? Mr. Olmert repeatedly asked Bush for permission to attack Iran's nuclear sites, only to be told no! Don't the Jews in Israel understand Bush and more so B. Hussein, would rather see hundreds of thousands of Jews incinerated by an Iranian first strike than risk destabilization of oil?
19. The Big Losers
Josh   (03.26.09)
are the people that got fooled by Bibi, he is laughing right now after screwing the people that voted for him and the right wing parties. His coalition will collapse.
