make it fast and quick!!!! this will frustrate the living hell out of hamas murderers and terrorists in the region. the check points, which reduced the suicide bombings in israel by almost 100%, together with the success of the iron dome deterrence will give israel some peace and casualty free safety.
2. Rockets are not a plague
tFighterPilot   (03.26.09)
They don't fire themselves at Israel. Someone is firing them. This is not to say that I don't support the deployment of the system.
3. Complete success will be when it intercepts the Qassam/Grad
meir elazar   (03.26.09)
over Gaza, explodes raining down the Qassam/Grad and the Defensive Rocket over the source of the terror attack - GAZA!!!

Iron Dome as a system might work but what about the geographic location. Is as evidence so far has shown towns like Sderot are to close for the system to lock on and shoot the thing down. Is it even worth it as each interceptor rocket cost at least $10,000 whilst each kassam cost $10 and the terrorists have thousands of them. If you have an average of 7 rockets a week that would be $70,000+. During Cast Lead so many rockets were fired we probably would have run out of supplies because so many were fired. There is also the risk of will it make the problem worse rather than better. one of the biggest dangers from Kassams is shrapnel spread in a public area because these are low flying rockets. If you have an iron dome interceptor which will have to fly at the same height when it kills the kassam are we going to find ourselves with shrapenl from 2 rockets instead of one? With these risks involved and the cost of defending property from kassasms might just be long term better value to enforce buildings and rebuild any property damage. Killer rockets work fine for a high altitude, long range system like Arrow but the same principle for defensing against short range low flying rockets it may not be the solution. The plan to develop Iron Dome was a politicly ,motivated one where we would develop a system of our own, doesn't matter if it takes years to make and its not even on the drawing board we wont buy even a tempory off the shelf solution that currently exists. The US phlanx cannon could be at least a tempory solution during his time as DM whilst Iron Dome was still years away he decided not to buy or even rent a phlanx from the US instead we would wait for Iron Dome whenever that came along. The thing should be renamed scrap iron dome it probably wont solve most the problems like Sderot and we wont be able to afford it.

It is somewhat comical, israel is deluding it self that it can start and win a war with Iran without being destroyed. If israel starts the war, it's death certificate will be placed with a footnote in the history books.

you indeed are delusional. iran has nothing military and technology wise compared to israel. can you not comprehend that israel can never be destroyed. people did try without any success at all. not even iran can defeat israel if israel unleashes all its power without paying too much attention to world opinion and un sanctions for cease fire. the arabs lost all wars at all times and had a mightier army than iran ever had, especially the tanks and planes. give it up already. it is only your dream but doesn't resemble reality on the ground. i know what i am talking about because i see all their supposed military might. it is basically cardboard and useless steel compared to israel's. i am also a highly educated bahai so i don't want israel to disappear like you do. hamed abougazi tehran, iran

12. Good, on time as promised by that former Defense Minister .
ben ,   singapore   (03.27.09)
But I cant accept his " political leg and diplomatic leg" political theory for hamas rocket into Israel. : -))) No news of him, Ynet what is he doing ? :-)
13. You will pardon my grinning at your statement, #9
Cameron ,   USA   (03.27.09)
Waging war is not exactly a Persian strength. The last war Persia was in was a 9 year mediocrity before they finally had to beg the Iraqis to bring the mess to an end. Not a path Persia ever wants to walk with the Israelis. Shrieking slogans & Revolutionary Guard antics are one thing, but forcing the Israelis grab Persia by the neck is quite another.

"they [Iranians] finally had to beg the Iraqis to bring the mess to an end." This is incorrect statement. On the contrary even when Iran was badly losing in early 80s Mullahs refused to accept Saddam's surrender offer and launched basij movement instead. Which brought war to a stand still at very least if not to marginal Iranian victory. As to the war between Israel and Iran, I wish wouldn't happen. Two main reasons. 1. Israel will not win war of attrition. And there will be no other. 2. Israel and Iran are natural allies against Arabs. Mullahs will be gone one day and hopefully soon.
15. THE SHWITZERS
joseph   (03.27.09)
When, oh! when will israelis stop bragging about everything they do better, they outperform, they outsmart everyone else? Instead of opening your trap, surprise your foe,and do it quietly like they do(, IE: the ss Koyle, lebanon barracks, 9/11,) by shooting down a few of their rockets. You will then see how quickly your enemy will do ALL the talking for you A ) by spreading the news around the world. B ) By accusing the Zionists for spreading new anti islamic weapon C ) by complaining to the UN that the JEWS refuse to turn the " other cheek " as mandated in resolution XYZ.....! Then, I will applaud and welcome Defense Ministers from around the free world booking suites at the KING DAVID hotel with cash on hand. Do you take American Express?
16. Simply not buying into your take on the matter, #14
Cameron ,   USA   (03.27.09)
Your view of the matter is the first time I have ever heard that static trench warfare mess described as some sort of "marginal", ot "technical" Iranian victory. Thinking back, I remember 2 ding-dong states that wore themselves out in a grim replay of World War I with unmoving trench warfare. After X amount years, it was the Persians who finally had enough, growled about the need to bring it to an end, and cried "uncle!!"
17. To #16; If you object to my use of 'marginal' ...
leo ,   USA   (03.27.09)
I wouldn't argue. Aside from that I do not think we are at disagreement.
18. Perhaps so, leo
Cameron ,   USA   (03.27.09)
Maybe a draw between two battered, creepy regimes is the best way to size that sorry business up. One memory that just floored me about that fool episode, was the practice of young Iranian volunteers/conscripts being issued little plastic keys as symbolic "Keys to Paradise" before being sent out in human waves to clear a path through minefields for the tanks behind.

leo ,   USA   (03.30.09)
Yes, this is what I meant when I mentioned 'basij' movement in my #14. BTW, 'basij' is believed to be the reason why Iraqi army got demoralized and could not win the war.
