1. strike fast and HARD!!!!!!

2. Sooner the better
John Abraham ,   Sydney,Australia   (04.02.09)
Israel destroyed Iraqi Reactor in 1981, whole world criticized their action. But today world is thanking Israel for doing so and delaying the iraq of capturing kuwait by 10 years. Arab world understand only 'strike ' language, they spend valuable GDP in making missiles and on other side the economy is shattering with unemployment moreover sanction will bring more pressure on Iran. Iran is trying to go against the wind, and it will bring more damage to the people. Iran should learn from the past history of Iraq.
3. is this may situation???
ghostq   (04.02.09)
nothing is conclusive, one american say yes the other maybe, all and all the american have no idea what they r doing, or what is really going on, if Israel deside to strike it will go to the un and give publice warning before the strike just like it was in cast lead, so continu the chit chat all you want it will lead you to more confution.
4. Such talk cannot be dismissed as the ravings of a madman.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (04.02.09)
Ahmadinejad has openly called for the destruction of the State of Israel, hosting a conference called "The World Without Zionism" in October of 2005. Iran's president, who vocally denies the Nazi genocide against the Jews during the Holocaust, has referred to the Jewish State as "criminal," "a disease," and "a dead rat," and issued a statement on Israel's 60th anniversary of independence, saying, "Those who think they can revive the stinking corpse of the usurping and fake Israeli regime by throwing a birthday party are seriously mistaken. Today, the reason for the Zionist regime's existence is questioned, and this regime is on its way to annihilation." More about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threat to Israel at : http://xrl.us/ormpg

7. STRIKE!

Romania support Israel. STRIKE!
8. Gen. Petraeus
ben Ish   (04.02.09)
This is a very candid admission, as far as timeline. I have calculated Iran earliest date for 440kg LEU (enough for 1 device of 25kg HEU) of June this year. Leaving 10 months for enrichment. I agree with the 1 to 3 year timeline, however at the end of 3 years, there will be at least 1200kg LEU or 75kg HEU, at minimum, possibly more, because in 3 years at least 10,000 more centrifuges will be operational.
9. Striking alone would be suicidal.
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (04.02.09)
The situation in Iran today is very different than it was in Iraq in 1981. Back then Saddam had ONE reactor - one target which was easy enough to destroy. Today Iran holds MANY separate nuclear facilities, hidden well underground, and designed specifically to withstand heavy bombings. Even if one facility is hit, then there are many others which can continue the production of nuclear bombs. Plus, all these facilities are very heavily fortified and defended by anti-aircraft missiles, and sophisticated radars from Russia, not to mention the Iranian airforce. Thus a strike on the nuclear facilities in Iran must include many, many aircrafts (the equivalent of Pearl Harbor, or the aerial strikes during the first and second Gulf wars) and must be well-coordinated, in order to be comprehensive enough, otherwise the Iranians would easily thwart it. And I don't want to imagine the Iranian counter-attack with hundreds of missiles heading towards us. Their missile launching sites would therefore have to be neutralized too. Such massive aerial attack is not something Israel alone can do. We do not have a sufficiently large airforce for that, and we are too far away. This would be possible only with aircraft carriers stationed nearby, so that the sorties would be brief and simple. In short - without the US aiding us in such a strike, we might as well be looking for new places to live in. With all due respect to our mighty airforce, one should know his own limits.
10. ONCE AGAIN THE CONTRADICTION
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (04.02.09)
To start with.No one knows when Iran is becoming Nuclear. If it is on the verge of becoming. But it is becoming because we say so.This subject will continue till someone somewhere will be right in his/her guess work.Till such time that that happens,we have to believe so many predictions that to assimilate them is becoming difficult. About Israel conducting an air raid on Iran's Nuclear facilities will have to be simeltaneously done with several countries getting involved in the scenerio.Israel,on its own, will not be successful and may run into untold misery.
11. 9#,Tahl, your facts are off
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (04.02.09)
After Bibi's visit to Washington in May and the Popes visit to Israel also in May then the attack should begin. Israel has enough aircraft and bunker busting bombs to do serious damage to Iran's nuclear facilities. In 1981 it was said that Israel's attack on Iraq would delay things for 3 years yet Iraq never was able to rebuild. As for you saying that hundreds of missiles will hit Israel from Iran , this is not true. Iran has "only' 50 to 100 long range missiles and hopefully the arrow and the patriot can knock down most of these. A bigger threat may be Hamas and Hezbollah shooting off thousands of small range missiles.
12. I just relized
ghostq   (04.02.09)
all this befor iran elections, can means someone spread this rumore, try maybe to spook somone in iran, not to change the results, cause we all know what they r allready, but the timing is major factor for this rumor.
13. Lieberman is too smart
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.02.09)
Iranian nukes are not an Israeli problem but an Arab/American problem. Fortunately Livni and Olmert are out of power, and Lieberman is too smart to attack Iran. The day after Iran tests their nuclear device, the Arab rulers will line up in Teheran to pay homage to the Persians and pay reparations for their crimes in the Iran-Iraq war. Oil prices will jump as the Persians pay back the US and UK for Operation Ajax (the Mossadeq affair).
14. Before we strike...
Israeltalk ,   Israel   (04.02.09)
Before we strike there are key steps we must take in order to ensure both military and diplomatic success. http://israeltalk.wordpress.com/2009/04/02/the-middle-eastern-2-step-iran-our-palestinian-dance-partners/
15. #9
Ram ,   London   (04.02.09)
With all due respect Tahl, whilst your analysis is based on the logical on the practical it is problematic. Let's break it down: 1. Israelis will not pack their bags and go to the North Pole or elsewhere. So this option is struck off. 2. All peace overtures to Iran through all the major powers have been rebuffed. So unfortunately this option is unlikely. 3. The US may or may not assist Israel. If it does so much the better but if it doesn't.......... 4. This this leaves Israel with just the option of either A. doing nothing thus committing suicide or B. prevent Iran from having the chance to obliterate it by doing all and what it can to neutralise the threat. I will be interested to hear of any other options.
16. Iran and World Response?
PunditRich ,   Wisconsin, USA   (04.02.09)
Ostrich thinking. How would Iran and others respond? Even Neocons agree that the result would be a looong economic and social winter ... much global suffering. How would nuclear Pakistan respond? Israel would clearly be the direct cause, even in American eyes, hence she will be done.
17. Why doesn't the general shut his stupid
jason white ,   afula,israel   (04.02.09)
mouth? I think the army stops issuing intelligence after the rank of major.
18. #14
Ram ,   London   (04.02.09)
All points to the fact israelis will have to accept a two state solution. However, this will only be accepted when Israel will be convinced the new Palestinian state's goal will be its destruction. Therefore the PA's charter will have to change before such a step. Any concessions made now will neither appease the Palestinians nor the rest of the world. Past concessions should be taken as an example. Sadly Israel cannot rely on the western world for any support. I assume this will only come once Israel makes peace with the arab world.
19. #18
Israeltalk ,   Israel   (04.02.09)
I agree that past concessions have not provided us with anything tangible. While I disagree that "concessions" are a bad thing (IE: I think we have just been poorly implementing them), I am in no way suggesting we evacuate major settlements as a "good will gesture". Illegal outposts are a problem and a piece of evidence used in the "anti-Israel" propaganda efforts. Making a move against illegal outposts will only help us in the immediate and long-term IMHO. http://israeltalk.wordpress.com/
20. Why all the talk? Bring it on...
Persian-American ,   US   (04.02.09)
Why all this cheap talk about attacking Iran? Israel is going to do it today, tomorrow or the day after… Well sure… You mean to say that Israel has not attacked so far since it is peace loving country whose aim is to let diplomacy work. Well I beg to differ. Israel has not attacked since Israel CANNOT attack. All the Zionist friends here on this list believe otherwise? You guys could not defeat a bunch of rag-tag Palestinians. Oh yeh sure. You flattened Gaza and killed woman and children with Phosphorus bombs; the brave IDF. You say the attack is around the corner. OK guys: Bring it on..
21. Time line is not Gate's preview
Brod ,   USA   (04.02.09)
It is not for Gates or anyone to know. So, he should not speculate. It is common sense. Israel has a right to live. Being a sitting duck for the fanatics' nuke is not an option. The Free World should be grateful to Israel when it happens.
22. #20
Ram ,   London   (04.02.09)
The talk here is not about "bringing it on" per se. Unfortunately you have a slanted impression that Israel is an aggressive state, full stop. You should read the posts here and realise that most people are discussing options or the lack of them. The message of Iran is one of aggression towards the jewish state yet you seem to conveniently sweep that under your carpet. With an aggressive and uncompromising attitude from Iran, that openly declares the destruction of Israel as its its ultimate aim, do you expect Israel to just sit back and die quietly? Whatever the outcome it will be left with no choice but to act.
23. #14 because he is another american idiot
(04.02.09)
24. #18, no peace, no talks, period
(04.02.09)
25. Strike Iran
Shoukath ali ,   Bangalore-India   (04.02.09)
Stiking Iran??? Stupid Idea Hav'nt you learnt a lesson in Iraq ??? Still thinking of it then you are a real enemy of Hunmanity.
26. Talk Is Cheap. Obama Is Weak.
David H ,   Marietta USA   (04.02.09)
We won't even touch the gargoyle in N Korea, who presents a direct threat to the United States. You don't seriously think the dangerous affirmative action clown in the White House will lift a finger to help Israel, do you? I put my trust in Bibi-who has a vested interest in a) his physical survival, and b)his political survival. Israel is the only entity that can stop a nuclear Iran. The choice is yours - life or death. Choose Life!
27. Persian-American #20
Brod ,   USA   (04.02.09)
What are you doing in America? Most Persians who came to America was because they ran away from the fanatical Ayatollahs. You seem to be an Apologist for the Ayatollahs who are hellbent on the pathway of destruction. Are you a Trojan Horse? When it comes, you won't be seeing your Ayatollahs anymore. They will be hiding in their mountain caves like Bin Laden. And when they come out that will be the end of them. The true Persians will liberate their own country from the tyrannical rule of the fanatical Ayatollahs.
28. #20 talk is cheap
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.02.09)
It is easy for you to talk while sitting in America. You forget, but we still remember the Iranian children burning with Arab mustard gas while Scuds fell on Iranian cities. Then you spoke differently when we were the only ones to give you missiles to stop the Arab tanks.
29. Brod et al
Persian-American ,   USA   (04.02.09)
I was born here. What the heck are you doing here Brod? I have read your posts here and elsewhere; all disgraceful. I despise the Mullah regime for your information. But this does not mean I support the murder of woman and children by bunch crazies in the Israeli governments. I support Israel’s right to exist. But this does not mean I support Israel’s desire to be the neighborhood bully. Sorry. The various Israeli governments are as murderous as the despised Mullah regime… While I am at it; Bin-Laden mentality is actually closer to yours than mine.. So just suck it up baby.
30. I have news for you. Daniel chapter 8 indicates a Grecian
Rivkah   (04.02.09)
(Gentile or Greek in Strong's Concordance) he-goat (UN) with a notable horn (USA) comes from the ends of the earth (not Alexander the Great or Greece) and touches not the ground (airplanes) to subdue a ram (Media-Persia) with two horns, the greater horn (Iran) being subdued last. For the UN with the USA to attack Iran, there has to be a huge provocation. But it will be a coalition of nations that subdue Iran, not Israel alone. Isaiah said Jerusalem will be hit with what is described as a nuke since the mighty men will die and the women will be bald (radiation) and raped. Then Damascus is destroyed to rubble, as are Tyre, Zidon, Egypt, Gaza, Jordan and a lot of other places in the Muslim world.
