condemning chen doesn't absolve her of responsibility for what she did, and what she let others do to her own children. it is sad that, in addition to the harm to her children, she must also be punished, but justice and her conscience both require it. i would also like to have heard SOME genuine condemnation from the leaders of the hareidi community. they wouldn't buy a chicken from a "self-proclaimed" shochet, but they let a self-proclaimed rabbi loose in the community to abuse children. and why are such people not reported to the police? whatever the hareidi community's politics, it is WRONG to put children's lives in jeopardy, for any reason. pikuach nefesh should come first!

What is really scarry is that this women and unfortuently many others like them who are religious fanatics loose the basic human ability to define what is right and what is wrong, following every word that some so called religious figure commands them to do,to the point of physically abusing her own children. There are those in this country that cover under the umbrella of religion as a means to gain financial and political power, a classic example being Shas with 7 Shas MKs having been convicted for serious offences.

After reading this, and hearing the recent stories of Fritzl and others, I feel there must be other children suffering greatly. We must keep our eyes open and not turn away just to avoid "minding other prople's business".
