1. Right Now
Dr. M.S   (04.06.09)
"Brings people together, saves souls, and cures wonds, this is what we need now"
2. Well said Dr. Abu al-Aish
Ypip ,   Canada   (04.06.09)
3. What?
Jeremy ,   Boston   (04.06.09)
I'm sorry about this guy's daughters, but what exactly has he done to deserve a Nobel Prize? Honestly, any Nobel Prize for "Peace in the Middle East" is a joke. Look at the current situation, what has he done to help in our non-existent peace process? Things are worse now than they ever were.
4. Nobel Peace Prizes for all the Palestenian Arabs!
Shaul   (04.06.09)
If he gets it, why not everybody? He hasn't done anything for peace except being a victim. Same goes for the rest of his brethren. In fact, while we are at it, Nobel Peace Prizes for everybody! We all have to live in this crappy world, putting up with all sorts of nasty mishaps. My own parents were killed in a plane crash. The pilot was an Arab, but I did not go out and kill any Arabs in revenge. Just look how peaceful I am. I deserve a peace prize, no?
5. #3 What?
Torontonian ,   Toronto Canada   (04.06.09)
I have to agree with Jeremy from Boston. Other than Abu al-Aish's noble deed of saving lives what makes him more deserving of a noble peace prize than any other physician. This nomination represents a loss of the meaning behind the noble peace prize. It is an attempt by the Intellectual community to show pitty for the people of Gaza and diminishes the prestige worthy of true advocates of peace such as Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin.
6. This Man is a Great Muslim full of humility...
ben ,   singapore   (04.06.09)
righteous man that touches Hashem. His good work and kind deeds is and honor. Blessed is the womb that brought him to the world, he repairs the world with his medical practice : -) Kudos : -)
7. When ordered, he didn't evacuate, kids died for nothing.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.06.09)
8. More repulsive Arab propaganda
Frank ,   Canada   (04.06.09)
This guy has not done anything to bring peace in the Middle East. He has just been nominated to present Israel as a criminal country killing peaceful Arabs. The basic truth is that no Arab deserves this Nobel because none of them is fighting Arab terror.
9. What reports have chosen not to say
Gary   (04.06.09)
is that, according to the IDF, there were snipers operating from this doctor's house. This is quite possible, since Hamas knew that Israeli fire would turn these girls into martyrs for the whole world to see. Also, the area where this doctor had his home, received IDF notification for all civilians to leave their homes prior to the military engagement with Hamas shooters. The doctor denies receiving this notification, but it was standard IDF procedure during Cast Lead.
10. It's high time to create a new set of prizes for excellence
Marcella   (04.06.09)
The Nobel Prize is completely discredited. Even Arafat got a Peace Prize, for Pete's sake.
11. This Arb Dr needs to be charged in the ICC court instead
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (04.06.09)
for child abuse and murder because of not evacuating his daughters from a building full of explosives and terrorists in spite of being warned ahead of time by IDF.
12. Gilad Shalit for Nobel Peace prize
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.06.09)
Anybody can be nominated for Nobel Peace Prize, and really it is worth nothing since Arafat received it.
13. Nobel Peace Prize Is Worthless
Dan ,   Titusville, FL USA   (04.06.09)
Remember they gave the Peace Prize to Arafat...a TERRORIST. The prize is junk and the Nobel committee are liberal fools who think they can fix the world.
14. More proof the Peace prize has been fully politicized
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.06.09)
Since when does a personal tragedy make one worthy of the Nobel peace prize? Clearly, when it can be used to embarrass Israel. Hadassah Hospital has been nominated in the past, but they deserve it. They won't likely get it, because that would acknowledge that Israel has been putting its peaceful intent into actual practice. Jewish and Arab medical practitioners - from Israel, the territories and overseas - treating patients without discrimination.
15. Hope
Rina   (04.06.09)
Well done Dr. Abu al-Aish. You give me hope.
16. nobel prize is a joke. just ask arafat
(04.06.09)
17. Well I feel smypathy for his loss,
ME ,   USA   (04.06.09)
how exactly does this make him a candidate? Weird, I guess let's award anything to anyone for anything. What are people thinking when making such nominations? Peace be with him wheather he gets a prize or not.
18. Wow! For the first time in a long time the Peace Prize actually goes to a genuine pacifist!
Shaul ,   Sheboygan   (04.06.09)
19. So being a victim is enough for a Nobel Peace Prize?
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (04.06.09)
Silly me. And I thought you actually had to DO something extraordinary in your life, which promotes peace on earth, or saves many lives - in order to be eligible for a Nobel Peace Prize. As did Mother Teresa, Rabin, Begin, Sadat, Martin Luther King, and Al Gore. But now it turns out being a mere victim is enough. Although this doctor is indeed a very tragic victim of the IDF's anti-terror operations in Cast Lead, and certainly deserves all the empathy from us - what exactly did he do to promote peace, that puts him in the same pedestal as these people I listed? If him being a tragic victim is all that it takes, well then - by the same token, why aren't the Scheiweshuderrer family, with their horrible tragedy in the Sbarro Pizza parlor, nominated as well? Or any other relatives of Israelis who lost their loved ones in Palestinian terror attacks? The apparent answer, is that the world loves to see Jews as villains, as every bad thing we do, is immensely overplayed, as if we are the most evil people on earth. Yet when we suffer, the world turns a blind eye. It is saddening to see that the Nobel Prize committee is losing its sense to cheap political considerations.
20. How have the daughters contributed to his "achievement"...??
Avner ,   Kibbutz Gesher Haziv   (04.06.09)
The whole thing smells of yet another attempt to blame Israel, to sling mud at the Jewish nation-state, demonize it and de-legitimize it through the cynical use this time of killed civilians who died in a conflict in which Israel has been defending itself from the eight consecutive years of deadly Islamist attacks on its civilian population.
21. Unique
Baruch Adania ,   Sweden   (04.06.09)
Dr. Abu al-Aish stand out as absolutely unique among his people. Let us hope the Arab terrorist organizations, Hamas, Fatah, et al. won't dispose of him as a "collaborator".
22. What about the Schijveschuurder family?
Meir ,   Beit Shemesh   (04.06.09)
The two parents and 3 children were murdered in the Suicide bombing at the Sbarro pizzeria in Jerusalem - 9-Aug-2001 They didn't get a Nobel Peace Prize
23. Congratulations!
Gavriel ,   Budapest, Hungary   (04.06.09)
If all the Israeli Arabs could think in this way, peace would be closer. But I think, Dr Abu Al.Aish is an exception, although I wish there were more like him. I'm sorry for the tragedy that happened to his daughters.
24. What about Nonie Darwish?
Sheila ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (04.06.09)
I recognise the tragedy of Dr al-Aish - indeed watched it unfold with horror. I admire his determination to turn bitter to better, but Nonie Darwish is a far more impressive candidate.
25. Muslim mafia
Joseph ,   Canada   (04.06.09)
Muslims are growing in numbers due to no birth control, each family having 6 kids, average. These then form a mafia which try to award important awards to Muslims. Earth is going to be stone age planet.
26. NOBEL PRIZE...TO GILAD SHALIT AND FAMILY !!!!
AVRUM ,   CANADA   (04.06.09)
A MOST WORTHY EXAMPLE OF THE STRUGGLE FOR REAL PEACE AND HUMANITY IS GILAD SHALIT AND FAMILY. GILAD HAS ENDURED AN EXTENDED CONDITION AS "PRISONER/KIDNAPPED" CONDITIONS FOR SO LONG AND STILL BEING HELD IN THIS HORRIBLE CONDITION. GILAD STANDS FOR PEACE AND HE IS BEING HELD CAPTIVE BY BECAUSE HE WAS A PEACEFUL JEW AND A PEACE LOVING ISRAELI. GILAD IS BEING HELD CAPTIVE AND PUNISHED BY PEOPLE WHO BY THEIR VERY ACTIONS DISPLAY THEIR CONTEMPT FOR HUMANITY AND THEIR CONTEMPT OF PEACE. GILAD, AND FAMILY ARE THE REAL PEACE LOVERS AND DESERVING OF THE NOBEL PRIZE FOR THEIR STRUGGLE FOR HUMANITY AND PEACE.
27. To #3; I think you are wrong.
leo ,   USA   (04.06.09)
I am not very well familiar with how Nobel Prize for Peace is awarded. Having one given to Arafat makes matters very confusing to say the least. But I think this Prize is given not only for achievement but for genuine effort as well. I think Dr. Ezzeldeen Abu al-Aish's behavior fits this description probably better than the most if not better than all.
28. Dose this Dr really deserve?
e.m Jordan is Palse ,   s.f   (04.06.09)
Winning a Nobel Prize is a life-changing honor. Whether the laureate is an internationally known figure (such as Mother Teresa, winner of the 1979 Peace Prize) or a scientist plucked from obscurity (like Richard R. Ernst, who won the 1991 prize in chemistry for refinements in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy), the award brings with it worldwide recognition that highlights one's life work and provides the funds to continue and further the mission. For academics and institutions, a Nobel Prize is used to attract the best and the brightest minds, whether students or scholars, what an important job this Dr did that he deserve noble prize? Don’t you thing it is a game like the most noble peace prizes?
29. you all naiev, he is not
ghostq   (04.06.09)
someone special, like him there were other, one palestinian family who donated her son organs to Israely kids they deserve a prise but not him, he did nothing but to make noise to the media, he doesn't deserve an award, his hospital have hidden terrorists and he knew it, that's y he didn't blam Israel cause Hamas used him for their agenda, and he still keep quiet cause Hamas can hurt his family if he talkes.
30. What exactly did he do for peace? More Swedish Israel-hatred
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (04.06.09)
