1. We should stop being US currency to trade for Arab support
Shaul   (04.08.09)
Are we to accept that the foreign policy of the sovereign State of Israel is decided in Washington? Would any country accept such state of affairs? Is the majority of Israeli electorate wrong, and Obama is right? Latest statistics show that the majority of Palestinians are against the 2-state solution. Neither of the main Pal. parties (Hamas and Fatah) refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist. "Partner for peace" Abbas has no mandate whatsoever to conduct negotiations, and has shown his duplicity on numerous occasions. As Sen. Kerry said, US needs to show the Muslim countries that it is serious about changing its stance by pressuring Israel. We disagree. US should do that by changing its own policies, not force Israel to do so. And no, $2.5bn/year, or any aid, for that matter, should give the donor a right to dictate policies that would harm the security interests of a sovereign country. If that is, indeed, how US sees things, they should just keep their change (less than 2% of Israel's budget) Enjoy your new friends!
2. Liberman should stay a bouncer
Dan ,   Canada   (04.08.09)
Could somebody explain to me what this man is doing in a such sensitive position?
3. WOW! An Israeli leader with SPINE! ISRAEL is our only HOME;
Jae ,   Lynn USA   (04.08.09)
Arabs have 25 countries, and Muslims 56. Surely for those arabs who refuse a Jewish country they can find a home with compenmsation from the Israeli government that is fair and assesses real estate values. Those that are loyal to the Jewish vision of israel- stay. Just like Jews were loyal for 1500 years under the dregs of Muslim dominance and occupation
4. LIEBERMAN Tell the TRUTH - Of how we Jews FEEL : -)
ben ,   singapore   (04.08.09)
The Stte Diplomacy is to BREAK DIVIDE, AND SELL ISRAEL. IT is not that we dont know HISTORY, in the past How the ISLAMIST, CRUSADER came to Israel. Later the Colonialist POWERS. NOW The same SALES ! The American Talk of Peace IS A PLAYOUT !- ARABI ALLIANCE CONSPIRACY of the ME AND OBAMA ! It is NOT THE ELEPHANT RUN AMOK ! BUT THE LION ROARS ! About time this Lieberman TEAR THEse ARABI ALLIANCE CONSPIRACY APART !
5. Obama in Turkey is ILL ADVICE
ben   (04.08.09)
6. To MK Yohanan Plesner from Kadima
Don Saliman ,   Nahal Oz, Israel   (04.08.09)
You care more about how America feels, than you do about the feelings of Israelis. Did your plan or America's plan ever bring peace. No it didn't all it brought us is rocket and terrorist attacks. The state department always was in favorite of the Arabs views. For once, lets do what is good for Israel and stop worrying how the world feels about us,most of them hate us,no matter what we do. I do want the relationship between America and Israel to be good, but even between friends, you can not agree on everything and must look out for yourself first.
7. support
colin   (04.08.09)
America says it will support Israel However YNET leftest policy is to write any biased story to degrade the foreign minister.Lieberman speaks the truth of what the majority of the Israeli public wants and believes. YNET twists the truth in attempts to give the wrong impression of the policy of TRUTH.
8. Lieberman Is Right
Roanald ,   South Africa   (04.08.09)
Its time Israel got some spine & stopped being a puppy dog to America, its a decling empire anyway. The price of licking USA bum, only lets off the stink of you know what.Where ever USA sticks its unwelcome nose, it creates world problems.
9. Fanatic
Joeff ,   Melbourne   (04.08.09)
Leave him, he will be faced by Nasrallah and hamas. he will be hopeless with the lebanese resistance
10. Just Wondering
Shua K ,   NY   (04.08.09)
When are the left gonna start worrying more about israel's security, then what the world thinks???
11. 'People' are nasty creatures at times
Ypip ,   Canada   (04.08.09)
off in their own little world. What's your point? And I'm not sure what you mean by the extreme 'right wing' but dangling on your left one seems quite ridiculous to some 'people'.
12. Stupid posturing
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (04.08.09)
Where is the U.S. planning to put the Palestinian state? Texas? Arizona? Alaska? Such idiotic rhetoric coming out of Washington. What are they going to do, exercise a military option against Israel? Oh, yeah, right. The United States Army couldn't handle a bunch of Vietnamese, they couldn't handle primitive Taliban in Afghanistan, a bunch of Iraqis have handed the U.S. military its lunch, and now .... they are implying they think they can go against Israel if need be? The best military force in the world? Is it too soon to be calling to impeach Obama? With his pan-Arabist, pro-Islamic program? Hey, Barack, get a grip! Can you spell "September 11?" Do you for a single second of a single minute of a single hour in your day thinks that the United States WANTS rapprochement with Moslem fundamentalists? They don't. Trust me. September 11. I know you are not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but understanding what September 11 MEANS to the United States should be simple enough for even a cretin like you to grasp.
13. Bravo Lieberman!
Aharon ben Yitzhak ,   golus   (04.08.09)
Obama has to understand that Israel just had an election and clearly supports the right wing of the Israeli political spectrum. Lieberman is speaking truth when he states that Israel demands loyalty from its' arab citizen, expects Egypt to reciprocally visit or no dialog is possible and finally, Israel does not want a hostile state carved out by the palestinians. Obama is trying to force Israel to capitulate to arab interests for his poorly understood aims. His intersts are those of America and the arabs and not Israel. This is Munich redux. Israel has every right in the world and every reason in the world to resist and reject the so called two state solution.
14. White House, State are "one trick wonders"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.08.09)
In my computer days, I used to joke that for Microsoft, whatever the problem, the answer was "Windows". For the White House and State Department, it seems, whatever the problems of the Middle East, the answer is "Two State Solution". It's all they know. No thinking outside the box for this crew. That Kadima is sniping over this difference with the US, well, they ARE the opposition. They're doing what oppositions do. The bigger issue is the US. Israel needs to speak with one voice, to make clear it will not simply do the US bidding when it's deemed against Israeli interests. If the US sees dissension, whether from Meretz, Kadima or Labor's left-wing, they'll exploit that wedge.
15. I like Liberman as foreign minister.
Golan ,   SL   (04.08.09)
I like Liberman as foreign minister. He explains our position well. Oslo has been a failure. Give Oslo a chance? We did. It failed. The Arabs want war, not peace, only pieces. As far as the US State Department is concerned, these are the same people who want to talk to Hamas and PLO. And there is always India.
16. Again- exgerated hesdline
ME ,   USA   (04.08.09)
The U.S. Is not 'hitting back', mearly stating position the position 'the US' would like to see. The US does not make 'Demands' as it were some weak Arab government. All in all it's for Israelis to decide. If Arabs are waiting for someone else to 'force' Israel (this is the Arab mindset), then keep waiting. Arabs should actially deal (give and take), as opposed to demand (one sided). It's called a compromise on position to meet the opposition somewhere in the middle. Stand strong Israel.
17. Lieberman spoke the truth, the left....
Bernard Ross ,   St anns bay, jamaica   (04.08.09)
...is the main cause of israels diplomatic problems because they were israels biggest critics. The left has accepted everything the US says without questioning the logice. The US talks and the left wants israel to dance to the US tune. Israel is the US most loyal ally in the mid east and yet the us treats it with contempt. The US is notoriously ignorant on what the middle east is about . it is time that israel put up its own ideas and insist, like lieberman, for others to listen and not ram down israels throat their failed ideas
18. leiberman is right!
oded   (04.08.09)
the left in its many incarnations, is more concerned about ""what the goyim will think and do?" ,as opose to what is neccessary for the people of israel to remain safe? a2 state solution ISNOT a viable soluion. it is a dissaster for israel. the only solution is a resettlemnet, organised and componsated, of the arabs in jordan and egypt.
19. Serf or Sovereign ?
Marcel ,   Florida   (04.08.09)
SERF : a member of a servile feudal class bound to the land and subject to the will of its owner WHO OWNS THE LAND ,AMERICA OR THE HOLY ONE OF iSRAEL. WHJO WILL ISRAEL OBEY ? The degenerate Empire and it's evil agenda of weakening and destroying Israel under it's fraudelent peace will come to an end. According to Isaiah 28 Israel's covenant with death will be annuled.
20. US should not presume what's in Israel's best interests
(04.08.09)
This cokamamie solution is not even in America's best interests, even though the morons at the state department think so. We all understand Kadima's bitterness of being the bigest party and out of the government. Idiots.
21. Lieberman
Yochanan Hardisty ,   Paso Robles/Yasur,US   (04.08.09)
Someone should tell Avigdor Who pays Israel's light bills.
22. Stagnate=dead end
Roland ,   US   (04.08.09)
The US State Department spokesman said the talks are "stagnated"; Lieberman said "at a dead end". Thus they both agree the talks are going nowhere, only using different words. A new Israeli government formed only days ago; it needs time to review, decide aims and tactics. It is not a good idea to horsewhip a stiff necked people whose nationhood has existed 1000s of years b4 USA and any European nation and think one can ride herd over it. The "talks" have been going on for years, a few weeks or months will make no difference. Israel is correct to deliberate and duly formulate its new policies without outside interference with a time clock to its head. The people just voted Kadima out of office. Kadima opposition is expected, hasty, ill considered and does not help the security of State of Israel. Kadima, popular with the news media, probably will increase citizen support for new government and result in less support for kadima. Kadima failed to make a peace; but instead engaged in two wars that led to inconclusive results. The people of Israel are not so stupid as the Kadima leaders. Has Kadima ever informed the nation, the Knesset regarding the discussions with PA over past few years ? Apparently no agreements were reached to bring to the cabinet nor Knesset.
23. Obama doesn't flinch Bibi does
RMH   (04.08.09)
Obama has a 66% approval rating in the US, probably higher among Jews. He can play hardball and understands a full court press if necessary (mixed american metaphor -sorry). Hillary and mitchell are even more seasoned and cooler under pressure. Bibi talks tough but caves easily (remember Wye River meetings). He'll be saying "2 states for 2 people" faster than a chasid burning his chametz. a zizyn pesach Lieberman - relish your temporary title!
24. Robert Wood
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah   (04.08.09)
B"H Mr. Wood, there are already two states on British mandate Palestine: Israel and Jordan. What you and your Arab-loving State Department are looking to build in reality is a three-state solution and it really is neither reasonable nor it is a solution: unless you have in mind a final solution - for Israel, that is.
25. "America's commitment to supporting Israel"?
Jonathan ,   Tel Aviv   (04.08.09)
Giving our land to murderers only so they can murder us more easily is not support. Thats why I voted Liberman.
26. bravo
pascal ,   berne   (04.08.09)
it's populism what lieberman is doing! the whole world is laughing about israel will have a lot of problems with this FM! and no other country will support a war against iran or again lebanon! israel is a small country and jews is a small religion! so peace is the only solution in the middle east!
27. Lieberman; the new ex-Iraqi Foreign Minister
A Bethlehemite   (04.08.09)
this should be fun...
28. It is clear that Lieberman's comments were approved by Bibi.
martin knopfman ,   tel aviv   (04.08.09)
What pressure can the US put on Israel? Not much. By cutting off aid? Thanks to Bibi the Israeli taxpayer could absorb such a burden fairly easily because US aid, even when combined with the Diaspora's donations, equals less than 2 percent of Israel's GDP. Cutting of weapons supplies? That would mean firing the engineers, technicians and blue-collar workers involved in manufacturing what the IDF buys from the U.S. Can you imagine that at this present time? Israel is also the US's only true ally in the region. People who imagine that the US can simply bully Israel into doing things that it doesn't want are simply short on facts. Martin
29. Lieberman
Moshe (Proud left) ,   Israel   (04.08.09)
An idiot will never change. He will always be an idiot!
30. Lieberman wont be free for long....
Moshe (Proud left) ,   Israel   (04.08.09)
The long arm of Israeli justice will catch up with this fraudster sooner than he think!
