31. # 22. And you are the Good???
John M ,   European   (04.22.09)
Interesting to see that you are setting yourself up as the Good side in the Battle. Why is that.... Because you say so.... I dont think so As far as most decent thinking people think, you are the cause of most of the problems in the Middle East... Think about it...
32. hi Susan, no. 21 and others
bruno ,   bouxwiller   (04.22.09)
true, it is quite difficult to love Switzerland. as a Swiss what can I say? We have a very nice pro arab foreign minister having a biased companion in the UN called Ziegler (if i remember correctly he was a friend of Arafat) the swiss president Merz had a heart attack recently and it was not sure he would ever recover. he restarted his job and is doing it very bad. i am still unsure if he met the fool from Tehran out of stupidity or by evil intentions. when i was in school, all were teaching, Switzerland behaved courageously in WW times, my grandfather made me understand the same way. now, for a few years this ridiculous "heroic" picture is falling apart. But there is not a real recognition in Switzerland for all the misbehaviours in the past. i would love to see Switzerland as a real partner and friend of Israel. with the current government there is not a lot of chance that it could ever happen, and with the current people in Switzerland neither.
33. #24 yardstick- ghostq
Lisa   (04.22.09)
don't measure Swiss politicians by your standards, dear. Unlike in Israel where a minister or prime minister stays in office- after he is accused of all sorts of criminal offenses, in Switzerland a politician is out on the street immediately- . Swiss officials do not take bribes- so you needn't get offensive-
34. No commitment
Manuel ,   Buenos Aires, Argent   (04.22.09)
Switzerland is neutral the crooks find sanctuary for their ill gotten money in their numbered banking accounts under the veil of secrecy Neutrality protect the evils of the world. Switzerland do not commit to nothing, Switzerland just looks and takes
35. #33 There is no need to pay politicians directly in a
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (04.22.09)
country whose primary financial asset is being a tax haven and money laundromat. One must merely show that one has money, and one is immediately in Switzerland's favor. It does not matter who you are or what you do, how many you're exterminating or what countries you've threatened to wipe away from the face of the earth... One must merely be a Person of Means, or a Country of Means in our context. Switzerland is completely neutral also in the choice of its business partners - no scruples. No morals. No remorse. Just money in the bank.

we will see about this when you and your countrymen sit in the dark and freeze your butts next winter- like you did this winter?
37. #32 Bruno, the ex-Swiss?
Mari   (04.22.09)
do you really live in Switzerland? Come on- from Bouxwiller? If you hate it so much why don't you move to a country where all people are perfect- good luck! The average Swiss is neither better or worse than other countrymen- tell me ONE country- I sure would love to know. It ain't Israel either, in case you are thinking of moving there- they have problems with their own people without you adding to it- so stop maligning Swiss people.
38. hi Mari, no problem i am very close
bruno ,   bouxwiller   (04.23.09)
to the Swiss border. i don't believe in good people. people are always evil. no matter where they come from. what i am saying is: the swiss are dreamers and don't understand what happens outside of their country and they are in their majority blind regarding Israel. i am not looking for perfect people or a perfect country, my wish to have a Swiss Israeli friendship comes from my understanding that Israel needs allies who are driven by moral convictions, to side with a democratic nation surrounded by islamistic fools. am i allowed to say that there is no such political agenda in Switzerland?
39. NOTHING BUT CONTEMPT AND PITY FOR SUCH DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE
James ,   Los Angeles, USA   (04.23.09)
To all Israel and Jews: forget about it!!! Do you not understand that these people deserve nothing but your pity? Can you imagine being raised in a culture with no concept of respect for millions of people who were murdered?!? Ahmadinejad will suffer the same fate as all the enemies of the Jews-an inglorious death, shame on his people, and a lot of hell in the afterlife. Your people have been around thousands of years before Switzerland came into existence, and you will be around thousands of years after. How can a little short, beady-eyed monkey man like Ahmadinejad make you guys so anxious? Stop worrying so much!!!
40. Hanoch Daum
Marcel Pfister ,   Uvita, Costa Rica   (04.23.09)
As a Swiss, I am disgusted by what our president did. I understand we have to allow Ahmedinejad to visit a UN event, but I don't condone the reception by the Swiss government. Also, I deplore the fact that the Swiss delegation did not walk out during the speech. Hanoch Daum's open letter, however, is stupid and an insult to my intelligence.
41. Hanoch- almost not quite
Markus ,   Switzerland   (04.23.09)
this article is amazing- the writer manages to bring up just about everything under the sun that has ever been in circulation about Switzerland- lots of unsubstantiated rumors and half-truths... almost no refugees? Really? I am sure the 40'ooo plus Jews thank you for saying this... Again, as in other TBs, it is always THE Swiss, all of them- Swiss people are not the Swiss president- who by the way- I think, showed bad taste in scheduling the meeting when he did- the date is bad-it was inconsiderate and in bad taste- , but: as for the fact that they met- frankly- it was business- and not Israel's business. Switzerland, is presently, as it has for the past 30 years, an intermediary between the US and Iran..... Israel knows this- and with the recent friendly gestures towards Iran from President Obama, this must really worry Israeli politicians. This whole debate has become totally hysterical- . There is mud slinging and insults- . I can understand the worries about the Iranian presidents opinions- he is a maniac, he is threat to the West, not just Israel.. but he also represent the Iranian people, who I doubt very much think the same way their leader does. So, we THE SWISS, thank you for the vote of confidence- now we feel exactly the way you feel when a stupid horses ass makes an insulting remark about THE JEWS..... one Madoff- equals ALL JEWISH bankers, or worse all Jewish people? it might be a great idea to be a bit more specific when writing an insult- is it ONE person? Is it 8 million people? One Swiss rep does NOT equal the entire Swiss nation, get it? Just for your information: very few of us are bankers or politicians, not all of us make cheese or coucou clocks either, or chocolates. ..the majority of Swiss people are normal people who want to live in peace, have lots of sympathy for Israel.. I guess they don't count here- Swiss have not all applauded the president's meeting, they have let him know what they think- I feel sorry for the people who stood up for Israel and the Jews- they have been labeled anti-semites, liars, thieves, etc and worse in recent TBs. They will think twice next time...before standing up for anybody's rights. By the way: NOT attending the conference was a bad mistake, as was walking out - . Keeping silence is as good as approving of what is going on...... so, next time thank the nations who showed some guts by attending the conference- the cowards stayed away because they did not want to get involved- :)
42. #18 libertship from Sacramento
Mari   (04.23.09)
and when you do some research instead of repeating hearsay , and find out how your country, the US of A behaved towards the Jews- then where are you going to go on holiday? It took some massif rallying and arm twisting until they finally accepted about 200'ooo Jews- how many were turned away? Right now Switzerland is mediating between your country and Iran- because the US has not done it since 1980's- history? I always thought Americans were lousy in history- LOL- don't tell me- I lived there....don't worry- it desn't matter if you don't buy watches...at least you didn't bring up the coucouclocks- they are German by the way- Americans never learned....
