The same exists in Israel today. The Ultra Orthadox are trying to impose Jewish law on non belivers , which will always lead to conflict. Israel is indeed a Jewish state but that includes all jews from all origins and all levels of jewish obseervnce. Israel was founded as a jewish democratic state and was never defined to be a state run according to Jewish law. To try to impose this kind of religious law on non-belivers is not acceptable and never will be. When it comes down to it "religion" is the reason for all conflict.

the vast majority of moslems in the EU are there to have a better life for themselves and their children. Statistics show that the crime rate is extemely low among the muslim community in the UK for example and they have a very high rate of third level education and less likely to use social welfare. A small minority does not make a general rule. If someone has said balcks are an EU problem bc they have a high rate of crimes and unemployment in their community then s/he will be branded a racist.
