1. Brilliant analysis

2. Palestinian state
Chris Galloway ,   Melbourne Australia   (04.27.09)
It's nonsense to suggest that Palestinians want a state simply to better harass Israel. Some may feel this -- but most want a state they can call their own in place of the land and livelihoods wrenched from them by Israel -- and as a form of justice in the face of the systematic oppression and injustices inflicted on them daily by Israel.
3. Idiotic Analysis
David ,   Tel Aviv, IL   (04.27.09)
Ridiculous, stupid analysis: (1) There was no need to seek sovereignty when they were under Jordanian and Egyptian control, because the Jordanians and Egyptians were not seeking to build settlements or confiscate their lands or build a network of checkpoints or blockade them. In fact, there were treated as 100% equals and given full Jordanian citizenship rights. (2) Ok then, say the Palestinians don't deserve a separate state and Israel's borders should encompass all of the West Bank and Gaza. I guess that means that the "Palestinian" Arabs have the right to equality and full citizenship rights with Israeli Jews, including voting rights. Thats what you're saying when you say the land is Israel's territory, right? Unless you propose a more Hitler-esque solution of extermination or expulsion? Which is it?
4. Kol Hakavod, great article

Thank you, Hagai !

countries ...NOW!!!!!!!!!!
6. False...
Dan ,   Canada   (04.27.09)
"Jewish villages were built in the place of Arab villages. You do not even know the names of these Arab villages, and I do not blame you because geography books no longer exist. Not only do the books not exist, the Arab villages are not there either. Nahlal arose in the place of Mahlul; Kibbutz Gvat in the place of Jibta; Kibbutz Sarid in the place of Huneifis; and Kefar Yehushua in the place of Tal al-Shuman. There is not a single place built in this country that did not have a former Arab population." -- David Ben Gurion, quoted in The Jewish Paradox, by Nahum Goldmann, Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1978, p. 99
7. This is the obvious
pub ,   USA   (04.27.09)
What's frightening is that ALL of the world leaders are playing this made-up people "Palestinian" and "stolen land" game. Get ALL of the leaders of the Western world OUT of office. This world is getting ready to explode.
8. A need for more people like you
David Narov ,   Forest Hills   (04.27.09)
Where were you? why people like you with sound knowledge do not argue our case. It is vitally important that people like you should come together to teach the world the facts about the relationship of the jewish people to the LAND OF ISRAEL, Unfortunately the left ,led by people with clear political reasons, still have the upper hand and the damage is enormous. GOD BLESS YOU!
9. really?
John ,   USA   (04.27.09)
lol. They want to harass you? It's not like Israel hasn't harassed Palestinians and the whole Arab world with it's expansionist plans. You make fun of Palestinian claims to have lived in Palestine previously but you never mention the fact that only 5% of Israeli's are actually descendants of the Hebrews. Is your claim to Palestine really that strong?
10. PLO state
alexi   (04.27.09)
Segal is right on. israel has nowhere to withdraw too. Barak is mistaken on golan as he was on the manner of the lebanon withdrawal. Syria will fire missiles just like hezbollah did and will keep the border hot even if israel withdraws from the golan. There was never a PLO state in history nor did they ask for it pre67. Now they are divided between the moslem brotherhood and corrupt feckless fatah. They have clearly demonstrated that they cannot run a state as a good neighbour. And their education and religious system is filled with hate, so the next generation is polluted. Clinton and obama want a return to 67 borders, PLO state, and land bridge across israel .Good luck israel. Remember EU monitors. They ran away at the first sign of trouble. Bullcrap. the US can supply some weapons and oil and that's it. Fighting is left to israelis and they can do it well as they did in gaza so long as olmert, Turgeman, turbowicz and ramon are nowhere near the military who despise them. If a PLO state is desperately needed, then one has to return to the original palestine mandate which includes 75% of the land now called jordan. Land purchases could be considered on parts of northern saudi arabia and eastern Jordan which are very spacious. We can start over and make some divisions and then a PLO state can be born. Compensation can be made to jews who were chased out of arab lands and for arabs who fled israel. Not one arab can return to israel-olmert was a sellout and he would take back 1 million arabs if he could make a buck off it. Obama is trying, he is not a coward but he is not able to protect israel in any deal nor frankly does he want to. Nor does israel want to be protected. it can handle fighting on its own. Obama has more islamic training than jewish training and his bowdown before the saudi king was quite disturbing. israel is on its own. That's fine. But the withdrawals from israeli lands have been pressured by the quartet and that is no longer on. Yaalon is 100% right. Segal, talk to haber, tamir, beilin and oz , who has emotional problems with his late parents, to set them straight. Notice that Olmert, Livni, Oz all have troubles with the pioneering israel nationalist parents. One thing I have to say clearly. The west bank settlers ought to shut up about security and handle it themselves. Torah is not enough. Settlers, all of them, need martial and military training from the cradle and need to handle weapons well to be self reliant. Torah study and curly locks are not enough. Stop complaining to the IDF. Enroll your young kids in military school right now or tommorrow morning. One thing about the arabs is true. Every family has gun/s and knows how to use them. Get busy and shut up about needing the idf. Do it yourself in the province of judea!!!!
11. They do not deserve a state, BUT
David G   (04.27.09)
What else would you propose? Annexing the West Bank and giving them citizenship? incite mass murder or ethnic clensing? Giving the area to Jordan/Egypt? The status quo is unsustainable, No the Palestinians do not deserve a state but Israelis deserve to solve a problem that eroding their national soul and morality.
12. From articles such as these...
Avraham   (04.27.09)
we can at least say that YNet is not an all out leftist media. Much more such articles must be streaming forth to allow Israel and YNet to survive.
13. Son of Hamas Founder Rejects Islam &Converts to Christianity
Walter ,   NJ   (04.27.09)
Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of a founding member of Hamas, renounces the pagan idol Allah and the Babylonian religion of Islam and converts to Christianity. He is a devout Evangelical Christian (Zionist) now living in San Diego, California. 14. Why Palestinians don't want a state
Josh ,   San Jose, USA   (04.27.09)
Having a state would force the Palestinian people to finally take responsibility for their own fate. They would have to feed themselves instead of living off the UN like welfare cheats. Many terrorists will have to scale down their plans for mass murder in order to hold down a job. If they decide to harrass or attack Israel, that will be an act of war rather than a mere act of terrorism. Israel would have a free hand to strike back at the entire country without worrying about hitting "innocent civilians". Finally, a Palestinian state would put to rest once and for all any Arab claim to equal citizenship with Israeli Jews. There would be no more risk of Israel becoming an apparthied state. Israelis should look forward to the birth of an enemy state. It would be the best thing to happen to the Jews since Israel's own independence.
15. Absolutely Correct, Let them become Israelis or leave
Moshe Cryan ,   TA, Israel   (04.27.09)
The Author hits it right on the nail, the best solution today is for the Palestinian Authority to dissolve and for Israel to offer the Palestinians full Israeli citizenship in return. If they refuse to accept full Israeli citizenship, then they should be allowed to emigrate to European nations of their choice or to the United States or elsewhere if they desire. .
16. You're missing the point
Northern   (04.27.09)
You're missing the point: Palestinians require a state not because they want to live in a separate state of their own. A Palestinian state is a right wing alternative to what most of the world did. Fact is, most Palestinians are the ancestors of the people who lived here for generations. Who was here first? Them or us? Doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that Palestinians, and Jews deserve the right to live in this region. So why a separate state? Because you probably wouldn't want to do what the US/Canada/Australia and many others did. You wouldn't want to give them an Israeli citizenship and let them live within us as Israeli citizens. So as an alternative, we're giving them a state of their own. Actually, most Palestinians would PREFER not to have a state of their own and let Israel have all the lands we currently hold if they could become Israeli citizens. So the only reason why they ask for a state of their own is because they currently live in a stateless situation where they're not complete citizens of the country they live in, and don't have a state of their own and it has nothing to do with cultural or ethnic identity.
17. 2 states
Jacob Erickson ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.27.09)
I think a 2 state solution is the only way to achieve anything. Notice I said "anything" and not peace. I don't think the majority of the population could deal with having their own sovereignty and being able to control their actions to prevent their government from taking blame. Though I do feel creating the Palestinian homeland is necessary for the rest of the world to see this. And I feel sorry for all the people who do want to just live in peace being caught in the middle
18. What international law says
Fair   (04.27.09)
The author has seemingly not heard of something called international law, according to which the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip are occupied territory. This is the same international law which established Israel as a state. Can't accept part of it and reject the rest.
19. Terrible analysis
Yonatan ,   London   (04.27.09)
The Kurd in Iraq are part of a nation state, Iraq.
20. Because they already have one! it's called JORDAN
Isr4ever   (04.27.09)
Jordan is part of the original Mandate territories that were actually assigned for the Jewish state. Why do the Jewish people have to suffer because of the back-stabbing British people, who already stole half of the Jewish homeland and gave it to a Hashemite king, and now they want to steal half of the half. EUSA, instead of pouring billions into the corrupt PA (and collaborating with a lie), should have given the money to Jordan to help them accommodate the arabs who should be in the arab state (remember the original plan for 2 states?). However the anti-Semites and dupes don't want to admit that they were taken for a ride by the "palestinians" and that their money went down the drain, so they have to continue the lie even if it means destroying an excellent, thriving democratic state. But of course we won't let that happen no matter what anyone says. We are not really fools, you should know by now..
21. comments to Talkbackers
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.27.09)
#6: look up any "Palestinian" website and you'll see that your quote is wrong. . #16: look up any "Palestinian" website and you'll see that most Arabs living in Israel are recent immigrants who came since 1920. #18: international law recognizes Gaza, Judea and Samaria as "disputed territories" and Israel has the best claim for sovereignty #9 The Arabs ethnically cleanse any Jewish population under their control and started 8 wars of genocide against the Jews and you say Israel is "expansionist"? #2, #3 the Arabs could have chosen to have peace years ago. Instead they chose to try to exterminate the Jews. If you support a new Arab state, you have to find a solution for the Jewish problem. #11 you are talking like you live in the 1980s. The situation is difficult but not unsustainable. The events since 1993 show that building a new Arab state leads only to the weakening of Israel and the death of Jews.
22. to 1 sarah
sara ,   jerusalem   (04.27.09)
the auther do not know that the kurds in iraq are iraqi with passport and full rights the son can travelled for education or work returne to iraq the same about the kurds in turky or iran or syria . but the palastinians have no israil nationality or rights yesterday he was an old man from hebron complaining about his land and his home that the israili goverment took it he said that he buyed it from his money . do you know that my husbound is in amman he could not came to jerusalem in the day of wedding of his son becouse they gave him the visa after one week of that day so this analysis is nothing infront of the reality of the life of palastinians on their land or abraod .i think the land do not make the people but people can do .and the palastinians can do it if it isnot now it will be then the truth is to believe that it is the right not to force it as a right
23. Brillant very good analysis indeed

27. The politics of lies
Paul ,   Jersalem, Israel   (04.27.09)
It seems that common sense and the obvious is thrown aside in the face of world hiprocacy to eliminate Jewish undeniable rights. In this light Christianity, Islam and the one-immoral-government Left share a common devious goal. The least deserving candidate in the world deserving of a state, is the former hostile inhabitants of the Holy Land, just another Arab tool for world dominance. The Jews must remain stubborn, and live. As we watch the deceptions themselves eradicate the murderers that surround us. Brilliant article. Simple common sense is the best defense against the politics of lies.
28. please publish this article on the front page every day for
