The presidents position here in Israel is supposed to be purely for ceremonial purposes. Why is Peres going to America? Again, Peres is overstepping his position to chase his own agenda! The man is repugnant! The people never voted him in....when Olmert got forced out, Peres should of gone with him!

"the man is repugnant" is that really how you pay respect to one of the founding fathers of the Jewish state. The man know more about what actually happened in Palestine/Israel than any history book could ever teach anybody. His knowledge and experience in the region and its conflicts makes him far more qualified to deal with the US administration than any other representative the state of Israel could send. On top of this he is a diplomat, possibly our best! Would you rather have lieberman storming down the hallways of the White House making demands of the US administration, or Peres sweet talking Obama and Clinton into realizing the true difficulties and the possible situation that the Jewish nation is faced with? Save your criticisms of our greatest leaders for yourself and show some respect for a man that has devoted his life to the Jewish people!

What about the maimed from oslo? What about bringing terrorist armies to our borders,arming them, giving them money, land, legitimacy? That is peres! That is the draft dodger unelected president of Israel. That is a man with crazy ideas. Like the idea he is the elected head of Israel and not in a ceremonial position. I want someone who will tell obama and clinton that we will not commit national suicide for them. We are not a territory of the U.S. but an independent country. I want someone who works for the survival of Israel and not a rat who will sell us down the river. Let bibi lock peres up and keep him incommunicado for the rest of his life. We do not need the office of president and we do not need peres. He never even served in the I.D.F.!

The Israeli government won't condition gaza aid to Shallit's return and they won't even ask for Pollard. If there is any reason in the world for a Jew to fell shame, it is over the abandonment of Pollard by the Israeli "government."
