31. We are not an empire!

32. Israel has 7M and Needs 1M More
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (05.02.09)
Some people worldwide believe we Jews control the US. Stats: I live in LA County, pop 10m., in the State of Calif. pop 38m., in the USA, pop 305m. There are 3m "illegals" in Cal. and 14m illegals in the USA (Hispanics want to make them legal). NYState, has about 1.7m Jews (1m in NYCity). Montana has no Jews, unless you count converts to "born again Christians".South Carolina has few Jews..Florida, just South, has over 500,000. Why, maybe it's Colins Avenue? We (Jews) own the govt , (ZOG), banking, publishing, finance and entertainment industries believed by most Americans. I mean Steven Spielberg, Thomas Friedman..and Paul Volker and Rohm Emanual are Jews or half-Jews. What about Jay Sekolow (a Jewish born, born again Christian (moron) who wins Supreme CT cases about separation of church and state (hes agin). Lets hope the Muslims don't bring Sharia law, Jay. Your conversion will not be respected by the Jihadists. Israel has 7m people guys...it's that simple..Sharon wanted 1m more Jews in 20 years. He was right. Get the Jews out of Russia, the Ukraine, AND Iran.

"The Israeli Empire"? Gee, what an article for Arabs in the west to use against us. Control of Gaza? Control of the major cities of the West Bank? Give me a break.
34. Over the Green line not Israeli citizens???
JO   (05.02.09)
Being precise and proper does you well but you are not accurate - the first estimate is correct. Almost all those living over the green line are Israeli citizens born in Israel, not aliens. Politics apart this is an exercise in population of Jews. And whatever the peace process will bring, these Israeli citizens over the green line will be counted just as much as those who do not live over the green line (which usually means around twenty minutes difference in travel) The green line is not a populas of Israeli citizenship.
35. Palestinians that are not Israeli
yoel   (05.02.09)
and there are plenty. Palestine- for the Arabs Israel -for the Jews. Both do not want to live together and both like their own culture and religion far too much to allow such rubbish.
36. The Green Line is a myth
JPS ,   Efrat   (05.02.09)
History did not start in 1967, nor did it start in 1948. The green line is not an officially recognized border, but rather a line agreed to by negotiations for an armistice to end the 1948 war. So far as I know, there is no legal precedent to force Israel or the Palestinians to accept the green line as THE de facto border. Quite the contrary - international law demands that the warring parties negotiate a peace treaty to resolve the issue. The problem now is that TransJordan abrogated its part of the negotiations. Actually, the learned experts in international law will have to check if King Hussein's abrogation was indeed legal, or if Jordan is still on paper as the warring partner of Israel... in which case it's up to the two sides to redraw the border. A very sticky issue, of course, since Israel and Jordan already signed a peace treaty with recognized borders. The Palestinians, therefore, remain in legal limbo and have to negotiate with Israel to reach a separate legal peace treaty. No matter how much BM weeps and wails, Israel rules over it's 7.4 million citizens and the Palestinians have to negotiate a peace treaty in order to assume full responsibility over their share of the people. There is no error, except by YNET to print this ridiculous piece of trash.
37. Happy Nakba day B. Michael
Ilan ,   Ariel   (05.02.09)
Actually I don't care much about the holiday, but you, Abbas, and Ahimejihad can have a jolly good time together celebrating until your black little hearts rot out completely.
38. where Torah Jerusalem or Jews were mentioned?

39. WHO IS B MICHAEL?????????
dmgold ,   Israel   (05.02.09)
Probably from the anti Zionist J street crowd. This is one of the first shots being fired by Obama in his attack on the Jewish Israeli people. The Fear tactics wont work on the Jews of Israel they will only harden our resolve.
40. 'Israeli empire'
John ,   Canada   (05.02.09)
This is why idiots shouldn't have access to keyboards. And as to anybody downplaying some of these statistics, well wake-up they're damn accurate. The percentage would be even higher if Israel wasn't the only country in the world to allow the right of return to refugees. Israel needs to face the fact that they're sham of a country was never fated to last to begin with, the smartest thing to do now is to build friendly ties with neighbouring countries rather than being fortress Israel.
41. How do the number of Jews go down?!?!?!
Aaron ,   SF, USA   (05.02.09)
42. You forgot to add the oppressed Arabs of Egypt, Syria, etc.
Scott ,   USA   (05.02.09)
43. Jews 67% of entire population west of the Jordan (Judea&Sama
Jae ,   Lynn US   (05.02.09)
n summation, the 2007 census for Judea & Samaria was inflated by 53%, and the Jewish-Arab proportion west of the Jordan River - without Gaza - documents a robust Jewish majority of 67%, compared with a 33% Jewish minority in 1947, including Gaza. The most effective symptom of the transformation - from Arab to Jewish demographic momentum - has been the absolute annual number of Jewish and Arab births within Israel's "Green Line." While the number of annual Arab births stagnated at 39,000 between 1995-2007, the number of annual Jewish births catapulted by 40% from 80,400 in 1995 to 112,000 in 2007.
44. expats
no one   (05.03.09)
B Michael should have also stated that approximately one million Israelis live abroad and probably will stay there. That makes the statistics even more skewed
45. shoddy high-school journalism
bob ,   potomac md usa   (05.03.09)
this is not an article-=-buit an editorial disguised as an article. the population figures for the palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza are often skewed upwards--due to double countiing and the failure to erase people who have died. Anyway, the whole tone of the article bespeaks shoddy, amateurish journalism (the hallmakark of Last Idiots on line) for presenting a biased editorial as a real article that weighs all sides/,.
46. #11 Dream on. Not like Lebanon with 1 State
Laila ,   Montreal, Canada   (05.03.09)
#11 Dream on. We don't need a 1 State solution like Lebanon.
47. faulty math
Golan ,   SL   (05.03.09)
We have nothing to do with 1.5 million Arabs of Gaza. The others should be transferred to Gaza.
48. greeen line
joseph wall ,   louisville,ky   (05.03.09)
interesting and even thought provoking article but flawed when the author did not explain the meaning of the green line to its less mid east savvy readers
49. Hardly surprising, coming from B. Michael.
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (05.03.09)
What can you expect from a leftist loony who proclaimed the war in Gaza was completely useless and fruitless? http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3660821,00.html Or called for trial at the Hague for an IDF admiral: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3682293,00.html Or blamed "the occupation experience" for the assassination of Rabin: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3671326,00.html Or expressed "hope" when Obama was elected, as "GW Bush's evil empire is drawing to an end": http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3619418,00.html OK, we got the idea with this B. Michael. Can you finally end this folly of giving this clown a stage?
50. LOL "israeli empire": only palestinians will take him
(05.03.09)
seriously! What is he smoking? mushrooms??? Anyway I think he has not read the title of his own article: "ISRAEL'S POPULATION": this not GAZA! GAZA is occupied by palestinians who are busy preparing rockets: they are not at all occupied under the "dark" ISRAELI EMPIRE loool! BTW, He shoul have included EGYPT and SYRIA, israelis will e like 5%: this article is" RIDICULOUS", the worst "article" I have ever read
51. Gazza is part of ISrael now?
freejay ,   Israel   (05.03.09)
typical Michael rubbish!
52. Admit it, YESHA is over!
Avi-former Sruggie ,   Israel   (05.03.09)
The best thing to do is to pull the IDF out of the shtachim and leave the settlers to negotiate their resident status on their beloved arid hills with PA.
53. Jewish Demographic Momentum
Mark ,   Jerusalem   (05.03.09)
With Gaza gone, there is clear Jewish demographic momentum. The Jewish percentage of births has grown dramatically since 1995. Jewish total fertility rates in Israel are approaching 3 children per women (2.85 and rising) and Arab fertility rates have collapsed from over 8 to 3.5. Arab emigration and Jewish immigration further demonstrate how uninformed B. Michael is.
54. Shrunken frontal cortex.
Yosef Lewis ,   USA   (05.03.09)
How many in the statistic that you push would love to say you tarred and feathered? By all means, include the west bank Arabs in Israel's population. While your at it, why don't you invite them over for dinner so they can smash your child's skulls open with an axe, (See the recent news out of Bat Ayin).
55. #44 expats
MARK ,   JERUSALEM   (05.03.09)
After one year abroad, Israeli expats are no longer included in the population data the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics. #44 must have graduated from the same uninformed school as B. Michael.
56. The solution of common sense.
Dave Ronen ,   Haifa   (05.03.09)
A survey carried out the Panels Research Institute finds that more than 75% of Israelis see partial or total transfer of Israeli-Arabs out of Israel in any final-status agreement that includes a Palestinian state. The poll asked whether it would be justified, in the framework of an agreement for the establishment of a Palestinian state, to demand the transfer out of Israel of all Arabs. Nearly 30% said yes with no reservations, while 28% said only Arabs who did not express loyalty to Israel should be expelled. In addition, another 19% said that Arabs who lived in areas bordering the PA-controlled areas, such as Wadi Area and the southern Galilee, should be transferred out.The remainder, just under 25%, said no Arabs should be transferred out.The survey encompassed 668 respondents, taking part in a series of Panel4All internet surveys. The Panels Institute says the respondents are a representative sampling of the adult population in Israel, and that the margin of error is 3.7%. The solution ? Details at : http://xrl.us/bjcgx
57. Exaggeration
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.03.09)
I believe that the numbers of Arabs who actually live in the Land of Israel is far fewer than reported for the simple reason that in those areas where statistics are compiled by the Arabs themselves or the UN, they tend to greatly inflate their numbers in order to give the impression that there are more of them then there are for political and economic-aid gain.
58. To JPS: UN242 is The Only Answer
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (05.03.09)
To JPS: I read your comment with great fascination. Your analysis is right on the mark. The borders are the result of the 48 and 67 cease fire lines. Much of the area is STILL disputed, hence UN242. THAT resolution is the only real, true remedy. In effect, both antagonists must have secure borders..acceptable by both. The Road Map, vs Annapolis vs Zinni vs Saudi vs Mitchell, vs Olso1,2, were all wastes of time. The right of return is not as clear as some believe. Again, both sides must agree. Somewhere between "Greater Israel" and "one state", is the ans. The Arabs lost in 48, 67, 73..that changed the partition forever. Moving people around...I doubt it. To Israel/Palis: it is in your interests to give and take...or both will perish: (see Iranian nukes).
59. Stats
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.03.09)
If you include all the population living between See and Jordan river into account , it means that for you , the writer of this article , that this whole territory is Israeli . Is Israel in control of the whole of Judea Samaria ? NO . Are all those inhabitants Israeli citizens ? NO . So why take them in your stats ?
60. No acceptable agreement. No Palestinian state
Sam ,   Canada   (05.03.09)
Far-leftists and pro-Palestinians can trot out whatever statistics they like. The fact is the Jews control the territory. Only an agreement that is acceptable to Israel will change that. Otherwise, the Arabs will have to destroy Israel to achieve their aims.
