1. again with stupid pictures?
Golan ,   SL   (05.04.09)
Really! Again you post unflattering pictures of the PM? Shame on you.
2. Israel - yes, but in what borders?
Brad ,   USA   (05.04.09)
Many commentaries here state that it is David's state, and that comes to Damask's suburbs. Also, many people here state that Arabs do not recognize Israel. Netaniahu is cunning in this speech, since he also does not want to say WHICH borders. Until Israel accept that there will be such a state as Palestine on West Coast and Gaza, and until Palestinians accept that there will be such state as Israel, there will be no peace. All other arguments, most of whom are based on bronze age superstitious based book or ramblings of a merchant, proved that they cannot be a base for peace. And for the rest of the world - we do not give a fuck if you will kill each other, just do not ask us for help and do not pull us in this shit. Which means, stop asking USA for sponsorship. Ask Madoff. Oh, and yes - drop the "Aaaa, we defend you against radical Islam". We are more than capable to do that for ourselves. And when it comes to our doors, we will be able to address it... accordingly. Sorry, we do not need your defense.

.. upon which to *begin* any 'peace talks'. I don't think the PM should talk to any nation, group, individual or committee about peace without making it clear that Israel as the Jewish nation must be recognized before proceeding. Without this basic foundational agreement, talking about any 'peace process' is just a waste of time.
6. This is a good thing
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (05.04.09)
Israel just put the world on notice that she will not "negotiate" with any entity whose charter -- and therefore raison d'etre -- calls for the destruction of the "Zionist entity" (i.e., the State of Israel) and the extermination of the Jewish people. Presumably the same goes for rejectionist states such as Iran and, more importantly, Syria. Israel is a very small nation, but a very powerful one. Finally it is exercising that power in a positive and meaningful way. Don't look for any of the Palestinian organizations to change their charters any time soon.
7. #2 - I think little Brad needs anger management....
AJ ,   Washington, DC   (05.04.09)
Congratulations, Israel! May your sixty-first birthday bring you continued security and overflowing prosperity. America stands with you!

Your cheap bravado & know-it-all attitude just emphasizes your utter lack of common knowledge of Israel& their US relations..Yes,people are right-the palis & Arab countries do not want to recognize Israel, but they are striving to innihilate the Jewish State for over 60 years...Palis were given numerous chances to establish their state, but they never will.FYI - it is Jordan that was established in 1947 by British mandate as a Palestinian state, that turned into a kingdom of king Abdulla...Today the 1.5 mil.arab refugees camps is a ground for a 3 state solution- all compliments of the media brain wash & pali lies..Who are you to talk about Israeli borders?!Ever tried to find Israel on the globe ?I strongly recommend...You bigotry & ignorance shines thru your whole post. And Yah, Brad, you are so capable to defend US from radical Islam, but so far it your "mouth" that does the work of when and if, while it's already starring you in the eye, as you are planning to address it....Big Hero...But don't worry, Brad, Israel is capable to defend itself and even you from radical Islam...they have a good track record....

I don't think Brad needs anger management -- hell, let him work himself into a stroke or a brain aneurysm, for all I care -- but he needs a lot of course work in history, international diplomacy and the Hague Second and Third Conventions.
10. You gonna tell me what borders, Jennie...
Brad ,   USA   (05.05.09)
,,,or you gonna just repeat what you read in JPost? WHAT BORDERS, Jennie? Davidian or the one that Israel signed on Oslo?
11. And to AJ I don't even bother to answer...
Brad ,   USA   (05.05.09)
Since I don't have anything. On my arguments - yeah, can be disturbing, and they are disturbing for radical Jews here - he answers with "ad hominem". His problem. :)
12. #2 Yaap, US very capable,LOL. remember 9/11?!

if the usa had to live in the terrorism circumstances israel does on a daily basis without let up, i really believe that you would have already been a casualty and the usa as we know it will have no clue how to deal with constant terror and bombardment on a daily and hourly basis. just look at your mexican border problems with the drug gangs, child prostitution and sex slavery of young children, the millions of illegals pouring into the usa, the constant killing and murders and gunned down innocent people on the mexican border and the drug volumes that transfer from mexico into the usa major cities, killing and hooking hundreds of thousands of youth. the usa is up in arms about dealing with this border violence, shootouts and murder. they have no clue what to do. it is beyond their means to control it.......and you think that it can protect itself from multiple 9/11'S????? i have news for you, americans are too fat, lazy and complacent and live a very advantageous and peaceful life to even contemplate, much less know what to do and how to prepare for terrorism on a grand scale as you see happening in israel. it has no clue and no experience, whereas israel, is at the forefront on terror and has a lot more experience in this issue. most of usa intelligence on terrorism plots come from the mossad in israel. without the mossad, the cia and the nsa would be nothing! vivienne beirut, lebanon

I wasn't going to respond to your post -- I was hoping to have a quiet dinner at home with my husband -- but he got called to a business dinner last minute and here I am, not wanting to do laundry, and some free time on my hands. So I am going to respond to your post. You are either extraordinarily stupid or extraordinarily naive. Possibly both. Israel has been warning the world about increased Islamic fundamentalist terror -- and Arab/Islamic terror generally -- for a very, very long time. Learn a little respect. Without Israeli intelligence, the United States would be drowning in terrorist acts. Without Israel, the amount and extent of Arab/Moslem terror would have cost countless lives. Europe is a lost cause --- they actually like Moslems and Arabs (or -- more likely -- they are terribly afraid of the burgeoning Arab/Moslem populations in their own countries) -- but the United States should have learned from Israel's repeated warnings. They didn't. Witness the attack on the United States embassies in Kinshasa and Nairobi. Witness the attack on the USS Cole. Witness September 11. Israel has been looking out for American interests for a very long time AND DON'T YOU EVER FORGET IT. If you think that Israel is at fault here, well -- that's makes you extraordinarily stupid. The ONLY country that the United States -- were push to come to shove -- can count upon in the region is Israel. We are both democracies. We both hate violence (although we both recognize that sometimes, you have to answer fire with fire). Quit blaming Israel for the problems in the Middle East. Israel is the least of it. America's vaunted "war against terror" is really nothing more than a war against Islam. And don't you EVER forget it.
15. #10, #11 Well, Brad, which Israeli official supports the Davidean borders?
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (05.05.09)
Do any of them even ask for them, be it as a crucial and central matter of the state or even *at all*? Here's the reality, Brad - we are unwilling to compromise our future as a sovereign, independent state, by letting Palestinian Arabs become the majority (or even near that), because we learned the lessons of being a minority and also of multi-national civil wars, be they Balkan, African, Slavic, or Levantine. We focus on our survival. And at the same time, we have no desire for expulsions and massacres - our society is quite incapable of ever approving of them. Anyone who believes that Israel is violent and unethical should go and compare our local conflict to African, Balkan, Slavic ones... and wonder how come *our* death-tolls are so tiny in comparison, and why they get so much more attention. But thirdly, we are also incapable of forcibly relocating hundreds of thousands of our own citizens - it's a big enough part of *us* that the matter becomes critical. The vast majority of these people live in 1-2 km strips slightly into the 1948 armsticle line - the oft-mentioned "1967 border". But that's a matter for negotiators to agree on, with silly pencils and maps... And first we must get to that. Israel's already there, diplomatically. Even Liberman's there, in the very statements he made regarding Israel's signed obligations. But what he, Bibi, and many of us would like as a requirement for further steps is an assurance that we're talking in the same world - that it's two states and not the Palestinian nation-state and the half-Palestinian bi-national state. That's *our* red line, and people can pretend forever and ever that it's been crossed, but it never was. The way Abbas adamantly refuses to consider *not* settling millions of Palestinians in Israel is the reality. And we're tired of being hoodwinked, and of diplomacy games.
