1. Jews and education
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (05.05.09)
... have gone hand in hand for three millennia. I will, of course, do my part, as will a lot of Jews in the Diaspora, but I have a modest proposal to make. What say Israel stops the funding of the Neturei Karta (who breed like rabbits) and use that money for the schools and the teachers? The Neturei Karta only know how to take. They give nothing. With any luck, the Neturei Karta might find life so difficult, they will leave Israel. And that would be a really good thing .....

Well, there's always Ahmedinejad or "Palestinian unity." We can have a lot of fun ripping either or both to shreds .....
4. 1 Sarah: Living by the Tanakh and studying it is a blessing
Rivkah   (05.05.09)
for Israel and is a sweet fragrance to the Lord. King Solomon said much study is a weariness of the flesh. It is hard to study, and it IS work. Instead of taking money from them that enables them to study and do the Tanakh which requires a separation from the world in some ways, why not execute illegal drug pushers like Japan did and save the money on imprisonment and lost lives for education? Just because some people work in one way and others study to be approved of God in another, does not lessen the value of either. The Bible says to respect those who work hard among you. But it also has commandments to follow that worldly people often ignore.

I have no issues with most ultra-Orthodox sects. I also respect those who devote their lives to the study of our wonderful religion. I have a great many issues, however, with the Neturei Karta and the Satmer. They are anti-Israel and anti-Zionist -- violently so. They are also incredibly hypocritical because they seem to have no problem accepting phenomenal amounts of financial assistance from the entity in which they do not believe. I have no problems with the Ger, the Bobover, or the Lubavitch, for example. I do have problems with the Neturei Karta and the Satmer. I don't consider them Jews.

8. political implications of ignorance
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.06.09)
It is clearly in the interest of the right-wing and religious parties to promote future generations of ignorant voters

Judging from the content, grammar, syntax (or lack thereof) and misspellings in your post, I have to agree with you. You did not get an education. In fact, I would say that you are functionally illiterate. Try night school.
