after all without "returning the refugees" what excuses are there to keep at a state of war?

The security argument is a first-tier argument. We are expecting to be surrounded by an Iranian crescent that will link up with the Shiites in Iraq, with the Shiites in Syria, with the Shiites in Lebanon, together with the Sunnis of Al-Qaeda and Hamas. Sooner or later, it will come, and then what will we say when the Syrians are sitting on Lake Kinneret? There will be nothing preventing Syria from violating any agreement reached once Israel gives up its strategic advantage on the Golan Heights. We should remember that this is also a question of justice, a question of continuous [Jewish] connection with the Golan region, and also a question of common sense. We should have common sense. We should stay on the Golan as explained at : http://xrl.us/bmazn
5. Translation: Syria doesnt want peace, just wants land
David ,   Boston, USA   (05.07.09)
Syria is afraid of peace. A minority government stealing from Lebanon and following its master, the Land of Aryans. Arab Leaque nations are doomed if they ignore peace, real peace and stop making rediculous warlike demands and calling them peace gestures. Israel has time on its side. The Arab world does not. It is a house of cards ready to fall.

They don't need the land, and we don't want "peace." Syria is large and has a huge army. They hardly need that land for anything more than tactical gains against Israel and more access to the water supply. Israel has enjoyed relative calm on that border, why screw it up by trying to mettle with the status-quo, which in the end any agreement would be worse for Israel? the Druze calmly trade back and forth between Syria and Israel. While Syria does harbor terrorist groups as a proxy and a very tiny amount of Druze pose a threat....Israel's situation is pretty comfy there. As soon as they'd sign a deal, terrorist proxy's would definitely still exist.

Any amendments with regard to refugee would sell the idea to the majority of the moderate right wing. We don't need the arab plan with or without them demanding a refugee return which will never happen anyway. We can tell Assad to go to hell we are better off without a deal with him which he also wants to use an excuse to dump half million refugees onto Israel. Give us the Golan we will give you the refugees. A deal with Lebanon can be reached behind closed doors because there are very few issues with them. Its more about overcoming hatred not land. We need to do something about the palestinian front but we don't need the solution dictated to us not negotiated. The Gulf states are no threat anyway so we don't need to do deals with them. If they choose to stop pretending Israel isn't there great if not its not hurting us. Its like buying an entire suit when all you want is a shirt. You can get the shirt for a fraction of the price and save the extra money. NO TO ANY ARAB PLAN YES TO SOLUTIONS BASED ON ISRAELS INTERESTS.
