1. Ok Israel, go ur own way; USA hers
PunditRich ,   Wisconsin, USA   (05.08.09)
2. A big lie. Just control the border!
Yael ,   Haifa   (05.08.09)
This argument that if Israel pulls out of the land that it has no legal right to on the West Bank it will immediately turn into Gaza II is a huge lie that serves as an excuse to maintain the status quo and slowly but surely expand Greater Israel and force more foreign Arabs to live under Israeli military occupation for the sake of some lunatic religious zealots. Gaza turned into Gaza because Israeli abandoned the Philadelphi Route. If Israeli pulled out of the West Bank but kept the border to ensure that no weapons were going in, the West Bank would not turn into Gaza. Sure, it would be full of people who think just like Hamas and wish they could destroy Israel, but so is the Galilee, so what kind of excuse is that?
3. #2 How can you "pull out" and still "control the border"?
(05.08.09)
4. irresponsible
Palestinian ,   Jerusalem/Palestine   (05.08.09)
Abbas and Fayyad had similar views in closed meetings. i think that was an irresponsible comment .. he just described them as they are traiters in the eye of the palestinians . this will add oil to the fire between Hamas and Fath. to israel 's advantage of course . the guy is not stupid ..he is just an Israeli . i hope Abbas will wake up and stop shaking hand with these people .
5. you are fired
observer ,   palestine   (05.08.09)
if i was Natanyahu,i would have fired the gentelman on the spot . because of his........ ''similar views closed meeting ''.........comments about Abbas and Fayyad . he just described the men as liers and traitors to the whole world . this is really bad . thank you Ayalon ..you did us a big favor .
6. When and if the "palestinians" become genuinely interested
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (05.08.09)
in peace, they will elect someone who is not a murderer and they will come to the table without absurd pre-conditions. obumma can not and will not force Israel to lay down and play dead. He imagines himself the one person in the world who can do anything. He is truly a legend in his own mind, but he got just over half of the voters to choose him for president. A small majority does not an unrestricted president make.
7. #2 Gaza was Gaza before we even left.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (05.08.09)
The difference was that when the settlers got the Kassams and artillery shells, people like you said they should be moved out of there. Here's the problem, though. They were moved out, but the guns keep firing. It doesn't matter which border you control when you don't stay in the field - smugglers will always find a way, one way or another, and improvisation will work for the rest of it. Kassams are a prime example of using *everything* the Palestinians have for warfare - from trashcans to cow dung to flour. The Philadephi Route argument is a non-argument, and so is the "lunatic religious zealots" arguments - apparently you've never met 98% of the Israeli citizens who live beyond the 1948 armistice lines, or bothered to consider the fact that it was people such as you who argued that removing the troops from Philadelphi was central to giving Palestinians freedom from military occupation. Well they have their freedom, Yael. The freedom to handle their border with Egypt (*their* border, not *our* border!) as they see fit, and declare war on us, and suffer the consequences of it. But what you seemingly forget is that they had guns and training and intel a decade ago. What they didn't have was government. We gave them that. We, the US, the Europeans, and all the other idiots who thought democracy is just about elections and peace is just about waving a bit of paper around. And the only reason it's currently different in the West Bank is because it has Israeli soldiers everywhere, rooting out arms caches and arresting known terrorists. When that stops, arms smuggling through Jordan and even Israel will be a reality - because no one can control every square inch of border, and when you lose control in the field it's all over. So I prefer to wait until we have someone relatively sane *and* capable at the helm of the Palestinian nation - if that's even possible...
8. U.S. buying Arab favor with Israeli blood
Bennie ,   Jerusalem   (05.08.09)
The U.S. State Department is going to put the screws to Israel to give the Golan to Hezbollah and the West Bank to Hamas. Israel will have thousands more rockets pointed at her heartland from the Golan and the West Bank. Israel will be agreeing to her own suicide by giving up either the Golan or the West Bank. The U.S. State Department knows this, but what's another Holocaust? We're only Jews.
9. #2 - Yael, Gaza turned into Gaza...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (05.08.09)
... because Fatah is a Western-backed puppet regime whereas Hamas enjoys wide support among its Arab constituents. Gaza turned into Gaza because this is what the Palestinians chose for themselves. What happened in Gaza is a microcosm of what will happen in the West Bank if the terms agreed upon at Annapolis are implemented. Also, the Galilee is sovereign Israeli territory. Because the residents there are Israeli citizens, the government can pull more strings with them than it can for the Arabs living in Jericho, for example. Besides, the terms at Annapolis won't allow us to "just control the border". What part of "retreat from every square inch beyond the 1967 borders" do you not understand???
10. No land for peace
T. Traub ,   Phoenix, Arizona USA   (05.08.09)
Israelis have said: if they give up land for peace, they will have neither land nor peace. It's time to face the facts--land with Arabs is a war zone. Let the Arabs go somewhere else. West Bankers can move to be with their brethren in Jordan and Gazans can join their ethnic relatives in Sinai. Then the UN can give them all the money they feel like, to build their homes and economy. Meanwhile, Israelis will turn the deadlands of Gaza and West Bank into a rich, productive place just as they have done everywhere else. This is the only plan that makes sense. The Arabs have demonstrated that they don't have the will to live in peace with the Israelis. Even if they got the pre-1967 borders back, the "disaster" of the state of Israel would still exist, and they would still plot its destruction, only from much closer. Israel would be stupid to let its enemies move into its house. If the world ostracizes Israel for such an action, so be it. Israel will outlive the idiots in the West who support Islamism, just as it will outlast the current dictators and theocrats of the Middle East.
11. Obamas recipe is suicide because 8 miles wide is not okay
Jae ,   Lynn US   (05.08.09)
and thats what Israel would be. Jordan is 78% palestine and its population is 80% palestinian. Theres the 2 state solution
12. And we will make more mistake until Jordan will be Pal, Stat
e.m.Jordan is Palest ,   s.f   (05.08.09)
13. To# 2
e.m.Jordan is Palest ,   s.f   (05.08.09)
How did you feel when the missiles were shooting from Hezbollah in to Haifa? Was that also because of some lunatic religious zealots was the war of 1948 and 1956 and 1967 and 1973 were because of those people that you called them zealots? I m sure when the Arabs Israeli will rise against Jews you will have another excuse or that day you will convert to religion of Islam, Get real you are an idiot.
14. Good for him
John ,   USA   (05.08.09)
The deputy FM is correct. Israel must stand strong and not bend to US etc. Seems Egypt, Saudi Arabia not pleased with Obama's statements about iran as well and agree with Israel.
15. To no 2
Yuval ,   Israel   (05.08.09)
The big lie was when they all made us believe that if we leave Gaza then the Palestinians will see this as a gesture and will go forward towards a true agreement and of course will halt terror activities. In reality? yes you know the answer. The Palestinians saw this as a weak point instead and it helped them increase the flames thinking that what they did so far helped to get that gesture and that they will take everything. We should go back there and take over so they will know what gave and we can take back. If you think about it, peace can only be done after war , reality proved it.
16. Yael, do you volunteer to remove hundreds of thousands ...
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.08.09)
Jews from their homes? Maybe you would like to also remove my 7 month old baby daughter from her crib and two year old daughter from her little bed since we live in the Golan?
17. It's a awfuly good lie cause We support Israel 100%
USA ,   Go Israel!   (05.08.09)
18. reality check
Richard   (05.08.09)
As far as I know, forced population relocation is a crime against humanity, wether it's done to jews or muslims or anybody else. A number of the views expressed by the deputy foreign minister have very little support on the world stage. I assume a lot of jews in Israel and the US don't agree with them either.
19. How about the nuts from Haifa?
Ilan ,   Ariel   (05.08.09)
Seems that we have a problem with them wanting to destroy Israel too, if Yael is representative.
20. The world must awake to the threat this man poses to all ...
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (05.08.09)
The world must awake to the threat this man poses to all of us. Ahmadinejad denies that the Holocaust ever took place. He dreams of being an agent in a "Final Solution" - the elimination of the Jewish people. He has called Israel a "stinking corpse" that is "on its way to annihilation." Such talk cannot be dismissed as the ravings of a madman -not when Iran just last summer tested long-range Shahab-3 missiles capable of striking Tel Aviv, not when the Iranian nuclear program is nearing completion, and not when Iran sponsors terrorists that threaten and kill innocent people around the world. More about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threat to Israel at : http://xrl.us/ormpg
21. Iranian nuke
Avraham   (05.08.09)
As long as Russia and China (the greatest commercial partners of Iran) oppose any harsher sanctions against Iranian nuclear proliferation (and their opposition will surely last for many years!), Iran should not worry in its plans to carry out its ambition to produce and finally use the nuclear bombs against Israel and other infidels in the world. Americans alone are neither capable nor willing to stop Irans ambitions by the military means!
22. Please, Abbas should be addressed as "Mr". not "President'.
Nour ,   Palestine   (05.08.09)
Mr. Abbas is not the President, his term expired in January. This man has been totally exposed as an agent. As far as the Palestinian population is concerned, Hamas is representative of the Palestinian people. We do not recognize Israel, and never will.
23. Tweedle dum(b)
Faraz ,   Meldreth, UK   (05.08.09)
How could this man ever have been an ambassador to the US? Talk about a lack of diplomatic and political skill...While his boss is busy being shunned in Europe, he is busy ramming his own foot down his throat at home.
24. YOU ERR !!!.
ORAO STRANKA. ,   TSARIGRAD U SRBIA.   (05.08.09)
"Iran's atomic clock is now measured in months, not years. SO THEY KNOW WHEN THE MILITARY STRIKE WILL COME. PERHAPS SET A DATE AND CLOCKTIME FOR THIS ALSO ??? We must see to it that Iran pays a heavy economic and political price for failing to comply with the international community's demands that it suspend its nuclear program," the deputy FM added. IRRELEVANT !!!. Ayalon praised the Obama administration, saying "it could establish, along with Russia, an international coalition against Iran." THERE WILL BE NO INTERNATIONAL COALITION AGAINST IRAN, IF, THERE WILL ALSO BE A INTERNATIONAL COALITION SIDING WITH IRAN. Orao.
25. Embargo on both Israel and Iran is necessary
Nour ,   Palestine   (05.08.09)
Until Israel signs the NPT and Iran gives up its weapons program. By the way, it's in that exact order.
26. Nos 22 and 25 -
Avraham   (05.08.09)
To Mr. Nour, there is no state called "Palestine" (it was burried on November 29, 1947!). For your information exists only the Palestinian Authority!
27. Ayalon on Iran
leib ,   madison wisconsin us   (05.08.09)
Ayalon is mistaken to believe Russia will help form an international coalition against Iran. Iran is Russia's key Middle East client (Syria is number 2). Russia supplied the training, research and development for Iran's missiles, one of its nuclear reactors and an array of conventional weapons including the sale of much of the East German navy to Iran. Moscow has helped to dilute UN sanctions against Iran while playing at being a partner of the U.S. Brezhnev to Gorbachev to Yeltsin to Putin this military/political alliance has continued. See Lawrence Kohn Midstream Russia's Iranian Wedge and The "New" Russia and Iranian "Moderates" (November 1995 and April 1999).
28. No link between Palestinians and Iran?
Joel ,   Jerusalem   (05.08.09)
Absolute nonsense! What about the Karin A?
29. #26..time will tell..and thank you ayalon
