this TB is soooooo typical: one writer is asking why did 'we show him' (the pope) Yad Vashem? I guess it is for Jews only- on the other hand you wanted the pope to break into tears and start crying like a woman-what it is to be? it is a sacrilege to go there if one is not Jewish? 'People feel a perverse joy to see the suffering' Ginette-#27 you area sick puppy! There have been many TB about this. People said he MUST go to the site to proof he is not an anti-semite- and others dared him not to go- I suppose if he was two people that might work- just as you people have two minds...... Saying he is a Nazi is stupid, not correct, hearsay, a lie- but then it goes with all the other rumors and lies that have been propagated on TBs- this visit was a real eye opener- showing just how gullible and easily influenced people are- . Intelligence where are you? It was left out in the desert during this visit- People do not read? Most of the writers (except a very few) have regurgitated rumors about things that have been changed over 50years ago- or never happened- doing proper research must be a real chore these days- much easier finding some weird website on google and repeat some schmucks ideas...

The Pope as leader of the Catholic Church is locked into the warped teachings of the Catholic Church {I grew up in a Catholic neighborhood with many Caltholic friends} that the Jews are forever damned and condemned to eternal punishment unless they "accept " the baloney that the Church teaches. Therefore, in their eyes "we deserved the punishments received all throughout the centuries because we killed JC " and therefore, the Church as an arm of this sick attitude-cannot be too compassionateI. What can we expect? If he" f"orgives" the Jews, then his whole faith crumbles.
33. You don't understand...
S.   (05.12.09)
If the pope would say he is sorry for whatever had been done in the past by the officials within the catholic church, he might overthrow the whole catholic community by doing so. He's considered to be their father, placed there by God. He cannot admit mistakes of the past. That's up to other people within the catholic church to do so. I believe this request is a bridge too far. Still.

I don't like the Pope but no matter what he does wrt the Holocaust he will be criticized. As for him being in the Hitler youth, while its true every German of his age was in the Hitler youth. So should we ignore the actions of an entire generation of Germans?
35. To ALL Jews LISTEN CAREFULLY!!!

Follow Jesus words and you will never fin trouble in your lifes. Love your enemies the way you love yoursefes and sacrifiece for the ones you love i dare anyone of you to bring more beautiful words!
36. #32 you are totaly wrong my friend!
#32 ,   Jerusalem   (05.12.09)
I am a catholic and u should re consider your thoughts because the catholic church forgave the jews for jesus blood and we have strong ties with the jews and else than the jews. Jesus came to die and he knew he was going to die no body could have changed this but not everyone understood the msg. the pope is trying his best to deliver a msg of peace which u are not getting as well
37. What do Jews Expect?..."We Were Victims"and so they remind
RJBH ,   Methil   (05.12.09)
us each and everyday... and when Jews murder.. (or is it accidently kill?).. thousands of Palestinians they then immediately explain to the world ... "We were Victims". The Pope knows In the Zionist State, War Crimals abound, and no doubt said a silent prayer for those Victims too.
38. to #35 please LISTEN Carefully!!!

You are espousing a faith that is a complete an utter desecration of the Emmunah Yehudim or (Jewish faith?. It (xitianism and all its permutations) is wholly and completely unnecessary and is therefor suspect in my mind. If I compile and correlate my doubts of it's authenticity with the violence and atrocities of the past the summation of the equation is simple to see. Christianity in all it's forms are a product of Asav; that only knows an ever increasing exponential lust to absorb, consume, conquer, assimilate and destroy, it is complete avarice and the christian nationalist socialist party in early 20th century Europe had the final opportunity to exterminate righteousness and good in this world and now the republican/evangelical element in America is attempting to create another opportunity to finish the efforts of Pharaoh, Caesar, the Satrap Ptolemy, Nebuchadnezzar, Antiochus IV, martin luther, ferdinand and Isabelle, Pope Gregory, richard the lion heart, charles de goubineau, hitler, Saddam Hussein, etc etc

I beg to differ. I am neither confused nor sick. The only confusing thing I find is why people like you or Arabs for that matter, read YNet articles? I would not even think or visiting a Christian or Arab site…sorry, not interested. Your religion teaches you to turn the other chick, mine does not; and I know it’s hard for a non-Jew to understand that concept. Israel was literally born from the ashes of one People. Your attacks, your hatred toward us has made us the strong nation we are today. Pope Benedict praying at the Western Wall asking that the Jews be forgiven for having killed Jesus; oh, this is rich! Didn’t the Romans put him on the cross? His visit seems very empty, devoid of true feelings unlike his predecessor, Pope John Paul who was a remarkable man. By contradiction, we didn’t ask for the pope to visit Israel, or to “cry like a woman” or wanting him to “go to Yad Vashem to prove he is not anti-Semite” as you put it, we just don’t care. He is not an important man to us; what’s more, I honestly don’t think he feels much for the Jewish Nation. So Lisa, who is the rabid dog now?

This man comes across as self-serving. This was one of history's worst genocides and he's worried about semantics? The Pope is a loving, compassionate man. He wants peace and love for everyone. He knocks the Pope's words and being cosmopolitan or scripted, yet that's exactly wahat he wants -- only he wants to write the script.

This man believes the rest of the world is his personal meat grinder. There have been atrocities all over the world (some still ongoing). I speak to ex-POWs hear in the states. They don't ask for ANYTHING!
