1. There is no excuse for Bigotry of any kind
dmgold ,   pardes channa Israel   (05.12.09)
A hat tip to the EU Rabbis. There is no excuse for Racism , bigotry or anti semitism full stop. It is time the PC west stopped making excuses for the blatant bigotry of Muslim (not islamist) Clerics. This extremist bigotry cloaked in Faith groups or civil rights groups in Europe, Britain and the US has gotten out of hand and pandering to them looks very much like officially sanctioning anti semitism. Time to say enough.
2. funny but durban 2 is over, I guess
ghostq   (05.12.09)
they have reached nothing, so they need extra time to think it over, their delayed logic. again they will reach nothing.
3. dictatorship
Lisa   (05.12.09)
so who is dictating who is to take part in an international conference? There can never be a dialogue of any kind as long as certain groups refuse to sit together and have a dialogue- The rabbis are all mainstream? or do they happen to be orthodox? By boycotting every conference nothing is gained- who decides who is extremist? So now all of a sudden the majority of 'Europe's Muslim citizens support dialogue'? Not according to Ynet and TB- there are also no 'democratic values of the European union'- funny how all of a sudden there is a different tune----- a few days ago it was all Eurabia and worse.... like a weathervane.....
4. to #3 lisa the thing is rabbis never
ghostq   (05.12.09)
planned sucide bombings, or responsible to the killing of innocents, I can't say the same about Hamas.
5. #3 "Double-Speak"! You should talk about "boycott" with....
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (05.12.09)
...your Islamo-Leftist friends at the UK Universities, Socialist Parties and other pathetic anachronistic heaps of crap! You and your gangs have been barking "Boycott Israel" for two decades and now you whine if we don't come to your cangoroo courts to be spat upon? No "Lisa"! You won't get the satisfaction of seeing us sitting together with those who preach and act for our anihilation and perpetrate genocide, racism and hatred! You have a great time there nobhobbing with the worst the human race has produced. Enjoy the stink of primitivism, barbarity, illiteracy, racism and hatred. We will be looking for clean air somewhere else.
6. #3 Lisa, it is not a matter of religious sect.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (05.12.09)
It is a matter of letting violent organizations represent Islam! Not only does that defame an entire faith, it also gives over the voice of its adherents to the most violent members. Who decides on extremism? How about law enforcement agencies and basic common sense? Hamas are a religio-political organization that is focused on violent attacks against civilians and the erection of a Shari'a law theocracy in Palestinian lands. It's also an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood - which is the same, only for all of Sunni Islamic lands in mind. Perhaps you'd care to be a little more informed about realities in the Middle-East (like the writings of Qutb, one of the founders of the MB and whose theology inspired Osama Bin-Laden).
7. #6 3 out of 4?
Lisa   (05.12.09)
I agree with you to a point- but there was one Islam group that was not part of a extremist faction- what about them? next time there will be 4 extremist groups- this boycott just made the moderates weaker. By boycotting the conference, nothing is gained- just like Durban II- certain countries stayed away- giving the 'bad guys' more time and exposure- . I know all about the factions in the Middle East- and their off-shoots in some countries of Europe. Closing your eyes, pretending they are not there does not solve anything. #5 DOC- I am not one of your 'leftist Eurabian anything'- and thank you, I have just witnessed some pretty primitive discourses during the Pope's visit- in your country. people talked about him like they talk about Nasrallah and Mashaal- makes me wonder if everybody knows the difference....? maybe it is time the Jews organized a conference since they have been boycotting all the others- you could pick your own opponents and discussion partners- of course calling people names, like 'pork-eating idol worshipers' won't work- yes- I read this in a Ynet TB- pretty explicit, isn't it? And crude.

no issue has been really resolved through dialogue. For example, there was 20 years of talking to the Soviets in the OSCE frame set. Did it do any good? No What helped? Soviets went bankrupt, so they had to stop their socialist project Another example. Are you so naive to think there was no talks between Jews and the German officials between 33 and 45? Of course there were. Tons of them. Did it help? No, it simply made the job for the Germans easier. So dialogue is never the solution. People grasp the incentives and the repression. For example, the reason why antisemitism went down after 45 in Germany was the repressive sentiment organized by the German media. For which we are thankful, of course. But was it mediated through dialogue? Not at all, the Germans did it on their own. In fact, the more extremist muslims get boycotted, and the more half associated muslim groups get boycotted, the more there will be an incentive for muslims to dissociate from extremism. The reverse happens if there are more red carpets rolled out for extremist muslims.
9. 100% sure, the Jewish groups are the ones who invited them
observer   (05.12.09)
10. #7 Lisa, this is precisely about NOT closing ones eyes.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (05.12.09)
Accepting these groups as part of the mainstream and legitimate representatives of Islam means validating them - it gives them self-importance and effectively gives their marginal stance power. The same was in Durban II - attending the conference simply gave it validity, with all of its content - Ahmadinejad's opening speech included. Sometimes you have to take a stance - and that stance doesn't have to be huggy-feely. And no, "The Jews" haven't boycotted every conference - quite the contrary, Jewish community representatives in Europe attend an endless myriad of conferences and meetings, mostly arranged by the ever-bureaucratic EU administration. It's when it becomes blatantly politicized, biased, and outright racist (Durban and Durban II are obvious examples of conferences that were derailed even before they began, having been organized and arranged by political blocs within the UNHRC in the first place) or simply a show-conference for photo opportunities that ends up giving credibility to the most extremist and violent of Islam. Boycotting this event *doesn't* weaken the moderates - attending it does. When you treat the extremists as the legitimate voice of a group, the become that voice de-facto.
11. Lisa , talking to extremists is'nt the solution
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.13.09)
Remember only munich in 38 , a peace conference with an extremist , a little bit later we had WWII . Do those extreme delegates represent the Muslims ? What's about those Muslims who say that their religion is one of peace then ? Regarding extreme views here , they are not "officials" , they are'nt delegates at a conference .
12. to #7 so you suggest doing bussiness
ghostq   (05.13.09)
with people that have blood on their hands? it's not closing eyes it's just don't let them a stage to spread hate, if people won't come or listen thos terrorist will become powerless fools when the british gave ahmadinajad stage people started to cheer him the results not much sypathy toward Israel from England, people in England don't really care what is going on in Israel and they get anoyed when it take them media headline space, and when a monkey is been given stage the british will cheer, cause it's shortcut quick way to end a nuisance without thinking on the consequences.
13. crap.
jerusalem   (05.13.09)
thats another one. first the PA says that if their members cant make it to their National Council conference due to the isareli checkpoints then they wont hold their conference this year. and now this?! what has the world come to? lots of love for "inter" "faith" here. sarcasm sat aside, i support the two organizations-hell of a lot better than secular (non-religious) fatih, secular (non-religious) mubarak for this religious meeting. why wasnt hizbulla invited? (stop discriminating b/w shia and sunnis)
14. to #13 I guess you r not aware
ghostq   (05.13.09)
on the ongoing clashes between sunis and shiis in Iraq, that place is micro cosmos of the muslem world is, very often sucide bomber explod themselves at each other mosques, only free medi is not aprochable in some muslem countries for showing the bleek reality. makes think how muslems can make peace with jews when they can't even make peace with each other.
15. to #14 how can anyone be not aware
jerusalem   (05.13.09)
of the bombings there. So what is the West's "agenda" for rubbing it in for the Shia's too? You mean thats IF they even want to make peace with the jews. so far only egypt and jordan did-wonder who's next in this new trend.
16. to #15 yet noone does anything about it.
ghostq   (05.13.09)
and let me put it this way Iran the suni and saudi arabia the shii don't like each other, and use the conflict of Israel palestinian as a bashing arena while they make things worse in reality, in this case the more is defenetely not the marier, while one suport Fatah the other suport Hamas, simple and Israel cant do peace only with Fatah, you can't do peace with half nation.
17. This is clearly the fault of the Jews for not reading the
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (05.14.09)
fine print on the back of the invitation. "While we will be inviting members of various religious beliefs, we will also be inviting violent terrorists from a misogynistic hate filled cult. We apologize in advance for this trickery but without the extremely small type we might not be able to trick the Jews into coming."
18. thats not anyones responsibility except the concerned arabs
jerusalem   (05.17.09)
I doubt that its half the nation-i'd say less. Why is it so worse-nothing is coming out of it. that is only israel's problem: cant do peace only with fatih. Should hamas stop being a resistance organization because Israel is mad and doesnt want to do peace with it?
