1. yes, and....?
oferdesade ,   israel   (05.19.09)
so the man's a visionary? do we want to sink into "what if"s and "what would have happened if"s? i realize this is a kind of nowhere talkback, but this has been a nowhere article. have the guts to say why. what needs to be done. should we nuke them all or wait for them to nuke us? trust others? ourselves? it's a slow process, my friend. 20 years ago, the berlin wall was still up; 30 years ago, we still thought the arab israel war was a necessary state of affairs (and no, i'm not saying it can reach a final conclusion in 1 way or another). 50 years ago we thought smoking was good for us (tobacco, dammit, tobacco!!!). 100 years ago, women couldn't vote (not that their addition to the roster has changed much for world politics). soon, hopefully, the turks will manage to create an economic unity in the middle east which (like in post ECC europe) will make war unfeasible - after all, that's the only reasoning politicians and their money men understand. and then soon afterwards, we'll all run out of petrol, food, air, water and bibles, and die. some bug will uncover our remains on an archeological field trip and wonder how - given mankind's inherent stupidity - we managed to survive for so long. he'll write a thesis, and it'll be archived in some university library on tralfamadore-6 and we will all be conveniently forgotten, quite simply because of nothing articles and talkbacks.
2. The writer would prefer that Israel commit suicide
Al   (05.19.09)
to his need to be loved. Well guess what...we Jews dont want to commit suicide to be loved. I am a son of one who survived Hitler, my son was named after a brother who was murdered by your peace partners, and I am not about to fold like a jackrabbit to satisfy your need for something new and exciting. The same can be said for most Jews living in Israel..They are not about to fold and walk into a gas chamber. Grow up and realize the Jews are here to stay. If there is no peace and that depresses you then I suggest you see Dr Phil. In the interim if it gets a bit too uncomfortable for you I would gladly sell you my dive in the golus, where I am sure you'd love to hobnob with all the hazer fressers. If you are a writer in Israel and you cant bring yourself to support your government than you are more pathetic than you seem. Like they say here in North America, have a nice day...meaning... shove off.
3. To Al
Gregg ,   Haifa   (05.19.09)
Listen to yourself Al.... " I am a son of one who survided Hitler..." It's time to go out from the hospital Al... This was more than 60 years ago... so please.... it's time to move on... Everything has changed, the world has changed, the culture and the society have changed... Wake up ! Good morning Gregg, son of one who survived Hitler too BTW
4. al, you're rambling. where did he say?
oferdesade ,   israel   (05.19.09)
that we need to do anything? au contraire, the piece is totally godot. quite possibly thanks to idiots who go off on their own hobby horses before taking that fraction of a moment to stand up and let their brains breath for a moment.
5. To all you who feel times have changed
Al   (05.19.09)
you know nothing of how everything repeats itsself. Gregg you are no son of a survivor for if you were, you would not post such nonsense. Everything repeats itself including the idiots who dont want to see and understand. Best you go the way of all such fools and go where you will do the least damage. Those who refuse to honour the past are doomed to relive it. Gregg you know nothing.....
6. Status quo is better than worse
george ,   ashdod israel   (05.20.09)
This article wanders in the desert for 40 years. And like the people who did only more so, generations of folks on both sides will have to die until a new generation does something new. Until then, the status quo is not depressing, it is a viable means of survival.
7. To AL
Gregg ,   Haifa   (05.20.09)
Oh.... Interresting to see that you seem to know me better than I do... If you want to live in the past... well that is your choice Al.... Honor it, cherish it, but do it quietly. Personnaly, I live foward and prefer to cherish the present and a bit of the future... I mean, why not. So maybe, throw your computer and go back living in caves and study TANAKH Oh, and by the way.... I am indeed a son of a camp survivor... but he taught me also to always cherish what I am now.... not what I was once...
8. to AL and GREEGE
suha ,   jerusalem   (05.20.09)
you cant live without the past ..how to live without memory .. you cant live without the future ..how to live without hope .. and the present is more complicated than the memory and hope becouse you live your memory and hope as one person alone . but the present there are many than al wama-alsh
