1. what did you expect, they want the money
ghostq   (05.26.09)
they over use the reprodactive organ anyway, y not make money out of it. they bring many children to the world, there is no law against the origin of the babies. I think this phenomena will spread like fire in thorns field.

7. The usual outcome of adopting a child by a childless couple
Rivkah   (05.26.09)
or having a baby by a surrogate mother as this couple is doing, is that fertility in the non-fertile mother is established after that and other children are born naturally. Going to an organics/non-genetically modified diet helps to establish fertility, too. This couple waited 12 years trying to have a baby with no results. The Patriarch Abraham waited for longer than that. After a surrogate mother had a child for Abraham and Sarah which brought trouble to the household, Sarah was able to conceive Isaac. Isaac and his wife Rebecca were infertile for twenty years before Jacob and Esau were born. I have seen so many infertile mothers have a child after adopting one or two children. It is like having a child in the home helps the mother to relax and become fertile. But there is also the tragedy of those who do not ever become fertile. A former neighbor, US Navy pilot Mike Conners and his wife, tried for so many years to have a child that his wife finally had a yard sale to sell the baby things they hoped a child would one day use. the other US Navy pilot neighbor, Eric Frostad and his wife waited four years for a pregnancy that occurred after I suggested to his wife that she go to an organic foods diet to enhance fertility. There is an epidemic of infertility I have noticed over the decades of women who take oral contraceptives before conception. A one per cent permanent infertility rate among women who take oral contraceptives is such a catastrophic outcome for the individuals affected by that, that I believe oral contraceptives should be taken only by women who are married and who have had at least one child or all the children they wish to have. But who listens to me? The young women would rather please their husbands than to worry about later conception. Among women I have known who discussed this with me, I noticed a temporary infertility rate of nearly five years among many women who stopped taking oral contraceptives. So much heartache could be avoided if people would eat better foods if they can afford to, and delay taking oral contraceptives until after the birth of children. Routinely, mothers nowadays put teenagers on oral contraceptives and that sets them up to be raped if people find out about it, which they do. That affects fertility, too, since STD's are so common among rapists and seducers who transmit the diseases to their prey. Studies in Israel have shown that if the cervix is nicked with a scapel to cause a slight wound, an inflammation and healing process at that site enhances fertility. I suggested that to Mrs. Conners and she got greatly offended for me to think she would be interested in anything that was done in Israel. There is so much anti-Semitism and that is a tragedy for the people who benefit from the discoveries and research of Jews who earn so many Nobel Prizes. They are not thankful for the gifts of knowledge the Lord imparts to the earth through Jews.

Well, at least that given that fundamentalists Jews refuse to be organ donors. Oh, and by the way, fundamentalist Moslems do not refuse to be organ donors -- there was a case a couple of months ago here at YNET where after accepting a Moslem heart for their daughter, a fundamentalist Jewish family said that they would never be donors themselves.

If she was a proper Haredi woman, she'd do it for nothing. Just to see the joy on a childless couples face.

To #8: Why not? You mean one needs a real reason?
14. #2 Yawning because we don't agree with you?
Talula ,   Israel   (05.26.09)
You arrogant Simpleton! I'd be much more impressed if she was doing it for free. She's hiring out her womb to a desperate childless couple and I find that morally wrong. If you want to do a mitzvah for someone, then do it. Don't expect to get paid for it...........because it's not a mitzvah then it’s a business transaction and there’s nothing warm and caring about that.
15. to #9 you know
ghostq   (05.26.09)
that according to judaism once blood or any other organ leave the human body it consider unholy that's y in Kosher food there is not a drop of blood, in Islam not much respect to the human body, guess how they learnd and developed surgery methods, of course dead human bodies. so go find TOTO.
16. to #11 wrong pigs and humans r

20. #15 Muslims do respect the human body
observer   (05.26.09)
Prophet Mohammed stood up out of respect when the funeral of a Jew passed by him, and recommended that the dead must be sanctified. Food made by people of other faiths is Kosher (Halal), body parts of any other faith or even pagans are sanctified in Islam. That monkey story, I have just told is a joke. Quraan would NEVER say that a human being is ape or pig, simply because God said: "I have created man in the very best image", So, it is, God forbids, humiliation of God to say the otherwise. Quraan is taken as one package; you cant accept a part and do without another part.
21. Doing it for free ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.27.09)
Why should she do it for free ? Do you think it's such an easy task that a woman has to do it for free ? Even being paid she gives a great joy to the future parents , and if i understood it well , it's the men's sperma that was used . It's HIS child , a little bit more maybe that an adopted child . What's the problem that the Rabbanim had to give their OK ? Don't forget that this woman is Charidi , she asked their advice .
22. to #12
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (05.27.09)
Of course she is doing it for the money. She is a widow, probably with other kids to take care of. Wouldn't it be better though to teach girls a marketable job skill so they wouldn't have to sell their wombs?
23. Money
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (05.27.09)
I smell a rat. Why does she get only half the money. She's doing all the work. What happens to the other half of the money.?
24. Paid Surrogacy
NYC Girl   (05.27.09)
It's somewhat unfair to criticize this woman for accepting money. There are many cases of couples in this country using surrogate mothers and the surrogates always seem to get paid. Not only that, but this woman is a widow, unlike many surrogate mothers who are married. In fact, as much as the haredim usually give me fits, I'm not sure all the criticism of this woman is warranted.
25. to #20 yeah but back in thos days
ghostq   (05.27.09)
when surgery methods were developed most muslems were secular, not fanatics like today.
26. 23 Arielush: Women who agree to be a surrogate
Rivkah   (05.28.09)
are not too reliable when it comes to turning over the child to the biological father. Adoption agencies who arrange the surrogate mother deals get half of what the hopeful parents pay. A couple in California I met a few years ago paid a fee of many thousands of dollars to each of 14 women who signed papers with an adoption agency that the child would go to the couple paying for the medical bills and living expenses for the surrogate in exchange for the child being given to them at birth. 14 women took the money and then renigged after the birth, keeping the child. The couple gave up trying to have a child. Then the adoption agency said if they would pay one more time, a woman agreed to give up the child to them. After being suckered 14 times, they agreed to pay again. The 15th try was the charm and they were given the child they named Cheyenne. Prison guards in California make $10,000. a month, so they could afford to pay the adoption fees and expenses of the mothers many times. You would think the adoption agency would have waived it fee after the first or second mother renigged on giving up the child at birth. But adoption agencies are ruthless, money mongering swine who play on people's broken hearts at being childless. So I expect the half of the $50,000. went to the agency that set up the deal.
27. surrogate

28. What did I really say
Rabbi Z N Goldberg ,   Jerusalem   (05.31.09)
Before qouting me please see what I have written in Yeshurun vol 21 pg 556 printed in Nissan 5769 where I clearly write not to rely on such a ruling !! Why am I being misquoted?!
29. Surrogacy
James A. Shrybman ,   Burtonsville USA   (06.24.09)
We have completed adoptions and surrogacies exclusively for over 30 years- www.surogacy-solutions.com. Some of our clients were from Israel. The story of the Haredi surrogate mother is touching. But it seems very restrictive to persons who qualify for approval from an Orthodox Rabbi. As a Jewish attorney I would be eager to help any Israeli to complete a surrogacy. People who are secular or ultra-orthodox can do so without approval from a Rabbi.
