3. Here is the essence of their dilemma:
GZ ,   NYC, USA   (05.27.09)
how, on the one hand, to assure their constituents that the goal is and has always been the destruction of Israel, and on the other hand appear to be moderate and peace loving to the Western audience. Well, so called Palestinians, have been performing this trick quite nicely for a very long time. One wonders, why they feel the need to change anything...
4. First time I've seen any sanity coming from Fatah members
Zvi   (05.27.09)
I wish to give credit to whoever is calling for an end to the obsession with violent so-called resistance. Any Palestinian movement that wants others to treat it as a realistic and trustworthy partner for peace cannot be based on violence against Israelis. Any Palestinian movement that wants Palestinian society to prosper cannot continue to pursue the delusion that it can destroy Israel if only it blows up enough bakeries and hotels and murders enough Israelis. Any Palestinian movement that wants to be more than a violent pawn of dictators - who flatter it to its face but laugh at it behind its back - must take responsibility for building a better life for its people rather than building secret bomb factories in order to murder Israelis. The reason why there was no Palestinian state after 1948 is that the Arab regimes of the time didn't want one. The reason why there is no Palestinian state today is that Arafat refused to abandon the delusions of violence and commit seriously and irrevocably to building a peaceful state, and ultimately, violence proved more attractive to him than negotiation based on the Camp David offers. The decision to remain wedded to violence has been the REAL naqba.

8. A really good place to start
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (05.27.09)
all this promotion would be cutting out the part of the charter which calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and extermination of the Jewish people.

11. This is the Barghouti the left think we can do business with
zionist forever   (05.27.09)
The US and Israels left our great president included who keeps getting showered in awards he doesn't deserve. They all think Barghouti is great and the man we should be doing business with so he should be released allowed to become the next PA president. The Prisoner Document which alot of people on the left are very impressed with and think is worth looking into says armed resistance is an option. Its men like Barghouti that proove that the palestinians are not ready for a state of their own. If we are not getting our own way politicly then used armed force to make Israel accept our demands. Respectable politicians say ok that we coudn't agree on a solution based on that plan so lets take our time and find a solution we can both accept. Barghoutis politics is the politics of a mafia protection racket ..... give us money or we break your legs. Until palestinians renounce all violence and the only option is diplomacy then this is going nowhere because Israel cannot trust them with an independent state which is in range of so much strategic territory. One of the main reasons all the peace plans to date have failed is because we have had deadlines. As long as a political ego is more important then peace ( the deadline for an agreement must be on my watch ) then you don't achieve anything because your trying to rush something than needs to be taken slow so you will fail. The Titanic was traveling to fast and so it was to late to stop before hitting the iceberg and look where it got the not to New York quicker which would have looked great for the company. They instead ended up at the bottom of the Atlantic and alot of people died because they went to fast. Until we take peace talks slowly and the arabs formerly declare an end to armed resistence all talks will sink and people will die.
12. #8 No such thing as a free lunch Sarah
Nour ,   Palestine   (05.27.09)
Are you the same Sarah that called for Palestinians to be "transferred" to Jordan? If yes then I don't see a need to change anything about the Fatah charter or violent resistance against Settlers and the israeli army. You see it's all about reciprocity. When you finally recognize Palestine's right to exist in freedom and dignity, and take practical steps demonstrating committment to that piece of paper, then Abbas would be permitted by Fatah delegates to take care of its charter and move ahead. Not before.
13. REMENBER WHO WANTED TO
HERTZEL ,   TVERIA   (05.27.09)
RELEASE THIS TERRORIST ? THE LEFTIST WERE SO ADAMENT ABOUT LETTING HIM GO...A MODERATE THEY CALLED HIM.....JUST LIKE ARAFAT WAS A BUDDY OF THEIRS.....
14. To: No. 12
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (05.27.09)
Having thrice rejected a two-state solution, having brought terror to the world on a grand scale, having lost six wars, guess what, ace? You get to go first. Without revoking the charters that call for the destruction of the State of Israel, and the extermination of the Jewish people, without open and very public declarations that Israel has an inalienable right of presence in its historical home, you get exactly what you have had for sixty-one years: not a damn thing.
